This is what I would do
Brad Richardson? I love the outside the box thinking here. A very underrated player imo, who would fill in admirably on the 3rd unit. It's savy really.
Not sure about the Risto deal though. Sure, a great offensive talent; but I think you maybe hadcuffing Muzzins ability there. The deal looks sound, just not sure if he is the right guy. Be more tempted to take that package to Jersey and see if you can't peel Severson now that they have Subban. Bit more of a rounded game.

Shake things up
Interesting thought but we'd need to add to the Dallas deal. I might steal your idea in my next ACGM.

Becoming elite
The fact that this team is in the Western Conference in year 1 makes them an elite team, so a deal like that isn't needed. I don't think Tatar is going anywhere simply because of what it cost the team to acquire him at the deadline and I am not sure they'd get an equal return at this point. There is absolutely no need to trade Bellemare. His contract and team-first attitude makes him an asset. I like the Tavares signing and feel they have a legitimate shot to sign him, should he become a UFA on July 1st. I've read a lot about how teams are pissed at the NHL for the way Vegas was able to go about leveraging their expansion draft for favourable trades and players. If they somehow sign Tavares, you better believe teams are going to be mighty pissed, not the least of which would be Garthy Snow. To them all I say boo fricken hooo!

Becoming elite
The fact that this is very much possible, attainable, and they have great prospects such as Glass and Brannstrom is just downright scary. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was Theodore getting shipped off to Ottawa in the Karlsson -Ryan trade. I think he's a top 4 guy but you gotta pay for a guy like Karlsson. Great post all around imo.

Keeping up the youth movement.
The coaching change in Dallas might keep Spezza where he is. That being said, he'd probably fit in well with Babcock and his production may surprise most given an opportunity with some scoring wingers.

Both teams get what they need
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy739</b></div><div>no thats the most we can do , the least we can do is take Lucic not spread both cheeks and take every bad deal Chirelli's made and make it our problem
bad deal
talbot is hot garbage we want no part of
Niemi in 19 game here was 929% and 2.64 GAA (Talbot .908% and 3.02 GAA . . . not even our back up's back up has stats that low and our system is already full, no squaters needed)</div></div>
Then you don't get the privilege of receiving Draisaitl, plain and simple. Ridiculous Habs fans like you give the rest of us a bad rep.
Talbot has ONE season left. Actually, if we want to get as finicky as you to use small sample sizes, he has performed best spectacularly as a backup.
2013-14 : 21gp, .941
2014-15: 36gp, .926
C. Talbot is a starter if you ask me. An inconsistent one with a bad year this season, but would do fine as a starter on a team with proper defense, something EDM lacked badly this season.
It's as if you also forget that EDM would be taking a huge risk with this deal, because nobody knows if Price will ever rebound due to one of chronic fatigue, concussion history, or knee injury history.
Final words: Stop overvaluing your own players and undervaluing other players. Stop looking to rob others in trades. If someone is giving you a 1C in the trade, you're not in position to spit in their face. There are 20 other teams in this league that need a legitimate 1C in Draisaitl.

IF we trade Price 100% guaranteed we will not take a Goalie in the deal as the ONLY Motivation to move Price is if Niemi-Lindgren keep out playing Price like last year .
Plus we have Mcniven , Hawkey and Primeau in the mix with our 2 NCAA Goalies in the top 1/3rd of NCAA Goalies and Mcniven our Puck Mover about 3 years away from hitting his prime .
we have tons of reasons to move Price but trying to stick us with a **** back up goalie you paid like a 1st string guy is NEVER going to happen
it would be like you trading Mcdavid for Malkin or Kesler , it just sounds stupid because it is and we are already flipping Niemi we dont got time to try and polish a turd with Talbot</div></div>
Dude, chill. He just gave us Draisaitl. The least we can do is take those awful contracts off their hands. We're not in a position to make demands. Worst case scenario, you send Talbot down the wavers and I'm 73% sure someone claims him.

Keep jvr? The next year - matthews/marner extensions
Depends. The author has Nylander on a bridge type deal and Marner on a long term one. I can see that happening since Nylander needs to ink his deal first and it's not like you're signing them in the same off season.
I think, bottom line, the leafs have the cap space to extend Nylander, Marner and Matthews to fair contracts, pay their performance bonuses, and still be able to sign JVR.
The kicker is that, if you give JVR an extension, you're likely pegging Nylander to play C moving forward (because you won't be able to afford a good 3 and 4 C)...and you're also relying on your D prospects filling the void on the back end in 2-yrs time vs trying to acquire a big name D-man.
I can see the Leafs offering him something like $6m x 5yrs and then it's up to JVR to either accept below market value to stay or go seek greener pastures as I'm sure he'll get a $7m offer from someone.

As more and more time goes on its looking more and more likely that marner will by far be the better player.

Look at what other fan bases are offering for McDonagh. Certainly comparable to what this Leaf post was. Seemingly it's only Rangers fans that value McDonagh so much. I guess he stays a Ranger. But I do agree with you, Rangers might be looking for prospects. At least Gardiner could be flipped at some time.
