Bogus take. Yeah he’s having a down year in Calgary but he’s still playing like a top 4 Defenceman. He was playing like a top pairing guy in Florida. 6.25 mill cap hit for a top 4 guy is pretty standard around the league

He's still young, has become wayyy more responsible defensively, and is a great option to slot up in the lineup if Chabot or Sanderson get injured.</div></div>
Just don’t see the long term upside in keeping brannstrom even if he’s become a solid 3rd pairing guy. The bottom 6 forwards are terrible, Kelly has like 1 goal, Joseph 3, Gambrell 1 etc, and a player like Trent Frederic who could score ~15 goals would be much more impactful than brannstrom. JBD would be cheaper than brannstrom as well.

Not looking good
Ik you flames fans are hurting rn but that trade with Ottawa is one of the worst I've seen in a while. Norris had 35 goals last season, Pelletier and Tanev wouldn't even be close to enough to get Norris, let alone with OTT adding a solid young 4th liner along 2nd and 5th...

As an OTT fan, I'd take that trade. Would prefer to not add a 5th or change the 2nd to a 3rd but not bad value wise.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sens_Sicko</b></div><div>Decent Roster Sim for a bozo, I'd say trade jarventie and some picks for marino instead of weegar. Pit is over the cap after signing Geno, and marino is younger + on a better deal. Would help us save about 1.1M which can be used to give jimmy and decrincat if needed. Jarventie's game doesnt translate to bottom 6 like a Boucher or Sokolov's does so I'd rather insert them. Pretty solid overall tho</div></div>
I think weegar is more of a stud than Marino. Weegar can be a 25 minute+ a night guy/1st pairing D compared to 20 mins a night and a 3rd or 4th defenceman. I think it would also take less to get Weegar because of FLA cap situation. Definitely agree about the cap space but maybe Weegar would take a hometown discount on his next contract. Jarventie doesn't have the skill or production so far to justify him immediately jumping into the top 6 or even 9, also no room for him there. Can agree that Boucher would fit a bottom 6 role better but I don't see him being NHL ready at the start of the 2023 season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NDoody</b></div><div>Formenton and Jospeh are similar and that is part of why they would work so well together on a line, Especially with Pinto who is a great passer and faceoff wizard.
I see it like this, they will come in at decently low AAVs, then that third line with their speed will get some great secondary scoring because of the line matchups they would get. Also, Formenton and Joseph together are probably a top 10 PK unit in the league. Huge value when they have to get extensions done in a couple of years and the Sens are in their window. I would lock both up now for +4 years and hopefully below 3 AAV.</div></div>
100% agree with that. However that top 6 is taking up a lot of the cap space and I don't know if you have room to pay both of those guys. I would like to keep them both but Pinto could have a great season and get more than 2.5 million on his next deal making it even harder to keep both of them. I also think the contracts I signed were pretty accurate like Stutzle at 8.25 and Debrincat at 9.150.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NDoody</b></div><div>I like the forward-thinking on the D line up there.
I would not be too fast to move on Formenton, keeping him on the 3rd line and PK would be a huge bonus for the season moving forward now that Brown is gone. and he will come in at a good AAV.
Also, i would say take Jarventie out, more Kelley back to LW which is his natural side, and bring up Boucher, Sokolov, or Crookshank</div></div>
Wouldn't be surprised if they moved on from Brannstrom after this season but he'll likely sign a 2 year deal this off season.
I don't really want to move him either but him and Joseph are very similar players and my roster above is already 250k above the cap.
I can agree with Sokolov over Jarventie but I don't think Boucher or Crookshank would be ready for the NHL in one year ish time.

Brown is 50% retained in that trade. Connor Brown at 1.8 million cap hit + a 3rd would get it done I think. I'd still make the trade if it was a 2nd or no trade at all, but I think the 50% retention with the 3rd would be good enough. FLA clears 1.45 million in cap space as well by making that trade.

Finally a non delusional leafs fan. Didn't know those existed. TOR needs to clear Holl's contract and they're also getting a 2nd and a 4th for Murray with a 3.125 cap hit. They're only losing 1.125 million in cap space by making that move.

You would have a full year of Brown at 3.6. Not great term but not necessarily a rental either. If he were to hit FA he'd likely get 5+ million. Saving that 1.5 ish for one season is huge in today's NHL with the Covid cap. Leason seems like a "C" prospect to me while OTT would need at least a "B" prospect back. I'm not too too familiar with WSH prospect system but I feel like fair value for Brown would be a 1st + 3rd. That trade won't happen cuz OTT likely prefers players over prospects

Yeah true he doesn't have term but 3.6 is a very reasonable cap hit for him. Leason had 6 points in 36 NHL games and 13 in 31 in the AHL as a 23 year old... not sure if the potential is really there.

Brown without retention is worth more than a 2nd. With 50% retained ur looking at a 1st + decent prospect at least. Leason doesn't fit that, he'll be a bottom 6 guy at best

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>athrin</b></div><div>Fiala is better and more consistent and did not cost remotely close to this.</div></div>
Keller is better than Fiala. Fiala's points were inflated due to riding shotgun with Kaprizov, Keller is the man in ARI and is their main offensive weapon. Fiala was also an RFA and Minny couldn't keep him because they couldn't afford him. They had no choice but to trade him, ARI and Keller aren't in the same situation. Keller is signed for 6 more seasons at a very reasonable cap hit, almost a million less than Fiala. He's also 2 years younger. Fiala essentially went for two 1sts. My Keller trade is essentially 2 firsts, a 2nd (JBD) and a 3rd. I think that's going to be the cost if he were to get traded

You think ARI turns down 7th OA, another 1st in Brown, a former 1st rounder whos developing well and a third? That's quite a haul for a player who has never hit 70 points and is coming off a bad injury. EDM is apparently asking for a 2nd rounder and yeah maybe PIT declines, but I think the value is there and it's a fair trade.
