Sens decline, a 2nd alone would only get u Brown without retention. U have to add more if u want that much retained.

No from the Isles, they need Beau not a 3rd goalie.

Brown without retention is worth more than a 2nd. With 50% retained ur looking at a 1st + decent prospect at least. Leason doesn't fit that, he'll be a bottom 6 guy at best

Brown doesn’t have term tho. A first will be the cost. IRS on year. Leason has potential. To be a guy who can play high in the line up. He played top six when someone was out.

Yeah true he doesn't have term but 3.6 is a very reasonable cap hit for him. Leason had 6 points in 36 NHL games and 13 in 31 in the AHL as a 23 year old... not sure if the potential is really there.

He is more of a defensive guy. But how much would it be with him a 3.6 mil. Regularly

You would have a full year of Brown at 3.6. Not great term but not necessarily a rental either. If he were to hit FA he'd likely get 5+ million. Saving that 1.5 ish for one season is huge in today's NHL with the Covid cap. Leason seems like a "C" prospect to me while OTT would need at least a "B" prospect back. I'm not too too familiar with WSH prospect system but I feel like fair value for Brown would be a 1st + 3rd. That trade won't happen cuz OTT likely prefers players over prospects

I think the trade has potential if the 2nd is swapped for a 1st or if the prospect is upgraded. Leason’s okay but were looking at his D+5 season right now so I’d hardly qualify him as a prospect. Likely is what he is at this point. Maybe someone a little younger with a similar pedigree?

Yeah that has a ton more potential depending on what pick Ottawa is sending back. I know the Sens have a ton of eyes on Brandon because Greig’s out there so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s someone they’d prioritize.

Brown (1.8 Retained) for WSH 1st and Lapierre would be more realistic imo

Hindsight being 20/20, Ottawa should have just kept him. They've had no depth scoring all season, and Connor Brown was a player you could set your watch to. Thought the deal was bad at the time. Felt like it was a rushed deal, and that they didn't wait for max value. Fortunately though, tucking that pick into the Chychrun deal makes it not matter at all.

It's a real shame that his season went the way it did. Was tracking to be making in the ballpark of a 5×5 type deal this summer. Be lucky to get half that now. Hoping Ottawa can make a reunion work in the summer.
