no idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>I would love Oleksiak. Definitely exactly what they need.
Remove the retain on Muzzin though. Don't love the 750k retain for next year.
Place Holder on 4th line, I would really like ZAR. Hits, plays hard, physical and great defensive numbers.
I also feel like we need 1 more NHL D ahead of Mete and Benn on the depth chart. A Subban type.</div></div>
Yeah I was unsure how the retention game would work and what Seattle would be okay with. My first idea was retaining a bit more on Kerfoot because it's just for one year anyway. Also yeah ZAR would be a great fit.

2025-26 season stars learn from mistakes and take paycut and mcdavid superteam
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Lol, this isn't happening. They would all be super underpaid, the top line 2 players would in a couple of seasons have similar contracts to guys who would be in the top 5 and top 10 best players in the League.
If they are taking paycuts it would be taking similar contracts to what they already have, or slightly less.</div></div>
Agreed. Matthews alone is gonna command closer to $12M. Same with McDavid and probably Marner (even though I don't think he's worth more than $10M.) Also that's an expensive 4th line. No way you pay Engvall $2.5M to play on your 4th line. Plus he'll probably want more than that considering that's close to what he is getting now. Also I would not want Sorokin at $7.5M for 7 years.
Anyways.. :)

I get that this is purely for fun but parts of it could.. and I can't stress this enough.. COULD work. I do find it hard to see Tavares on the first line at his age. I see him like Giroux playing second line. Maybe second line centre with Matthews and McDavid kind of like tandem centre switching off on the wing with Marner for your first line. Second line is Maybe Bunting-Knies-Tavares. Knies will definitely be at second line level by 2025-26. Skip out of Teravainen unless someone like Bunting walks or Tavares retires at the end of his contract.
This is fun to look at though. Leafs fans (myself included) can only dream.

Big Zona Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DangleCat</b></div><div>I feel like Zona can pretty easily find a team for Chych without having to retain half...so you are gonna need to really overpay for them to do that IMO.</div></div>
agreed. I feel like you either a) don't trade for soucy and play the waiver game with Muzzin and use that money to take on chychrun at full price. or b) include sandin in that deal to incentivize ARI to maybe retain 25%. That way you don't have as much of an expensive 7th Dman. Plus Seattle would need incentive to take on muzz. I prefer option a) as I feel like it's easier to play the waiver game with muzz over getting a team like Seattle to take him on at his cap it. Cheaper too as far as futures go to not have to lose anything.

Deadline Deals Maybe
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Not even a 1st? lol No where close on Huberdeau. The thought that you think it might be an overpay is mindblowning</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>emoprettyboy</b></div><div>did you just call a B+ prospect and Alex Kerfoot an “overpay” for Johnathon Huberdeau? Flames counter with Zary and Backlund for Marner</div></div>
I would like to clarify, as per the description on the trades, that the random picks and prospects I have are placeholders for what I would think it would be. I agree that Huberdeau would be closer to; Kerfoot, an a-tier prospect, b-tier prospect, a 1st and another top pick (depending on what else is in the deal) to make it work. Looking at it now I shouldn't have used the 'placeholder' scenario because apparently it's too hard for some people to read and wrap their head around it.

My Attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>armer918</b></div><div>I agree with the Kerfoot part, outside of getting Sandin signed the Leaf's can start the season with what we have and move forward with a 20 man roster like we have over the last few seasons.
Only real for that could be forced is sending Holl out for Sandin and that's fine if no team will offer a pick we waive him and a team will claim him as we have witnessed in the past teams love the Leaf wavier guys.
Getting nothing for Holl sucks but better than paying a team to take him like others have suggested it take.</div></div>
I agree with you on Holl. If no team is willing to give up anything for him I say we just waive him and see what happens. The other option is to send him to Ottawa as the "future considerations" from the Murray trade.
