habs fans need a reality check
"Chicago basically gave leddy away for a reason. He isn't that good. He just plays top two minutes so his points look like what a top 4 would have. Galchenyuk is worth way more than leddy. Bergevin wouldn't trade gallagher for leddy because he isn't stupid."

Ya but the thing is both those trades would be bad for mtl. I mean obviously one is closer but if islanders gm offered the second trade to bergevin, he would hang up the phone and block the number</div></div>
if the islanders offered leddy and beauvillier for galchenyuk bergevin would personally drive galchenyuk to ny and pick up leddy and beauvillier and would then go into hiding because he would be wanted for theft.

hahaha fair but yeah also saw it on twitter a bunch and it was just so crazy to me just wanted to try and help inform some of the fans that seem to just not get values of players in the slightest.

How NYI will get Galchenyuk
Why are people thinking galchenyuk is valued so highly?? It makes no sense the guy has been told by two different coaches that he isn't and can't play center. This is the same guy who was dropped down to the habs 4th line on a team that wasn't too good offensively. His highest point total is 56 which for a winger is not worth sending a big package for at all especially when you could get eberle or jvr for what appears to be cheaper(which probably isn't the case at all considering how the habs clearly want him out and that its just the fans who for some reason think hes a superstar). I do understand he was a high pick and does have talent but the islanders especially aren't in a position to take on another guy like that they need someone who is a top 6 forward no questions asked. Galchenyuk is basically another strome with a little better of a track record.

Either Kane would either tempt him or piss him off.</div></div>

avs/oilers
Chiarelli offered taylor hall for hamonic last year and garth snow said no, you're gm clearly thinks hamonic is a very good dman just like he thought of larsson when others didn't (and was right), so garth isn't giving up a 3/4 dman with a very good contract and one more year than eberle's contract which is an overpayment. That first rounder is also late in the round in a weak draft class.
As for the duchene trade nelson and strome can both become expendable if you got eberle and are getting a forward back especially for cap reasons and again mid/late 1st round picks in a weak class paired with a prospect should also be expendable in order to significantly improve you're team especially when the team is trying to convince tavares who wants to win to sign long term.

I'm pretty sure it was more Kane fighting against the whole team. Ladd never really had a problem with him, it was Kane thinking the whole team was out to get him and pointed out the leaders of the team as a reason why he acted the way he did, saying nobody backed him. I do think that being around a new group of guys including Ladd could change things but who knows, it's also a business and I think Kane is starting to realize that more and he's gotta conduct himself in a more positive way and I think a change of scenery could help. But who knows I'm just tossing out a what if and Kane has been linked to the Isles for a couple years and according to a few reporters Kane seems to be on the Isles radar.</div></div>
you may be right on that but i do know that i think it was an interview from last year where kane was asked if he could fight anyone in the league he would want to fight either wheeler or ladd so something like that seems not worth the isles risk

well you aren't getting duchene for something cheaper and the isles are desperate for a serious #2 center...kovalchuk trade would be giving up two players one of which would 100% be picked by vegas so instead of losing one for nothing you lose both for a player much better than both, and while doing so you could then convince vegas to take a bad but not overly damaging towards vegas contract in clutterbuck by giving a pick and two depth players who aren't of much need to the team..nice try though

Not Duchene. Not Eberle.
why do you assume duchene has a low chance of resigning the guy has expressed that all he wants to do is win? also a legit #2 center is needed now not 2 or 3 years from now when barzal is ready, he could be eased into the role and when the time comes if duchene is still on the team he can move up and play with anders and JT he has played and produced at wing before in his career...as for eberle one postseason and you're ready to say he'll never perform in the playoffs? he has performed well in big games playing for canada before. and how can you say this team comes up clutch in the playoffs? they have won 1 playoff series...also eberle has 2 years left not 3

Flat cap-trade with kings and lightning
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rmay50</b></div><div>Don't know why in every Islanders armchair GM I see the same 3 guys for a proven player. The value is definitely there in the trade, not complaining about that, (I COULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG ON THIS because I see the Islanders play 2 times a year, obviously when they play the Kings) but I don't know if Dal Colle Nelson and Strome would help the Kings in the now as much as they would like. Again I could be completely wrong about this. But good job on the trade the value is definitely there for both sides.</div></div>
i think this move would def be more for the future for you guys but i don't think it would absolutely kill you in the now as nelson is going to get at least 20 goals and 40 points and strome who was a high first rounder hasn't had the production most would hope but he still has tons of talent and has shown it can translate as he put up 50 points his rookie year..also dal colle is a high 1st rounder who should be nhl ready at some point later in this year and vonde sompel is a solid d prospect.
From an outsiders perspective i think the kings desperately need some more depth to their lineup but don't have much cap room

However, if I had Nylander on my roster and someone wanted to trade for him, I'd demand overpaymeny too.
If you ask me, all we need to target this offseason is a #2 Center. Let the prospects develop; we're so strong at every position, we'll be a powerhouse in a few years if we just maje adjusting tradea until then.
But those are just my opinions. This is all just fine for what you're attempting.</div></div>
Unfortunately, your premises bank on John Tavares resigning with the Islanders, correct? In my honest opinion, short of a Stanley Cup next season, I am not sure there is much NY can do to keep him around. And to answer what I am sure will be your follow-up, no, I do not think Tavares should or would sign any deal with the Leafs if he became a UFA.</div></div>
he has stated so many times that he wants to be here long term and wants to play for one team in his career it's ridiculous to me that ppl still are convinced he's leaving via free agency, the guy is extremely loyal and i could just not see him lying all this time and leave to go elsewhere to a team who is likely to be just as good or worse than the isles are considering teams that are much better probably won't have the cap room for a 10 million dollar player

The answer is No, Yzerman wants a top pairing D man for Drouin so you would need to include Hamonic at least in any deal for Drouin. And besides De Haan has only been linked to Detroit not any other team.</div></div>
I mean, sure de Haan has only been linked to Detroit, but what kind of site do you think this is?
Sure, Yzerman wants a top pairing defenseman back for Drouin, but since when has a player's RFA right been worth that much? Especially to a team that everyone knows has to make a cap dump soon.
Yzerman will likely have to settle for a different offer, or he will go the way of Sakic: demanding overpayment, refusing to budge then end up getting nothing.</div></div>
A team as cap strapped as tampa will not be able to get a true top pairing dman and de haan is coming off a very strong year as a 2nd pairing dman and also just played very well for team canada. Would be getting a top wing prospect back in dal colle and a good defensive prospect in vande sompel and a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder..a team that limited in cap room is going to need players on elc's and would still be getting a good young dman..hamonic is still probably valued higher but does have a little bit of an injury history and if he was included over de haan the package would not be as large going back to tampa.
