Thread:
Ottawa Senators signed Jake Sanderson (8 Years / $8,050,000 AAV)
Its certainly risky, but its about par for the course in the modern NHL. You pay for what you think a player will do over the term of the deal - not what theyve done so far.
Clearly they like him. I'm not totally convinced myself though.
Edit: I think I'm going to vote yes for the same reason I voted No on Miro's deal.
OTT sucks, so there is little opportunity cost lost by locking him up compared to bridging.
Still don't see how he could have gotten much more if they waited a year though, and that would have helped lower the risk a tad

To a certain degree, sure. But the Wings did not have young franchise players like Pastrnak and McAvoy when they had to enter a full rebuild.

They added Nino and McDonagh, plus resigned Forsberg... and still have 4M left to spend! Must be nice...</div></div>
What don't you like about Saros?
<img class="for_img" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FRdv7BjXwAEdv6P.jpg:large" alt="FRdv7BjXwAEdv6P.jpg:large">
I'd put him in the conversation in the top 5 goalies in the NHL right now. Ingram looks like a very good cheap backup and they now have Yaroslav Askarov over in NA. That looks pretty legit to me
This is a dangerous team

Thread:
(FLA/MTL) - Smilanic, 1st, 4th for Chiarot
Yeah Florida paid a steep prize for him for sure.
But out off the pieces that were out there I think they got the one they needed for win-now mentality.
This trade got basically tampa-series written all over it.
With Chiarot out there its less likely Perry, Maroon and Killorn hack the rebounds in without fear of bodily harm.
Florida needed grit, we are so soon to forget the refs are about to change their calls again come playoffs. Its the time for those "slow and takes too many minor penalties" guys to shine.
If this gives Bobrovski more space to see the pucks, more slack for dropping a few juicy rebounds etc. it just might be worth the, admittedly hefty, prize.
Once again looking Tampa: Hedman, Sergachev, Cernak, Bogosian.... comes playoff their goal front is not a nice place to be by any means.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Andrei Svechnikov (8 Years / $7,750,000 AAV)
I had Svech at 8x7.5m so it's a good deal for both sides imo. He showed elite talent in his sophomore year but the 20/21 season wasn't as good for him. There was also no shot he was going to make more than Aho.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DongLord23</b></div><div>Why are people saying this is good?
This was like worst case scenario. Now it's either a bigger contract next year or just go to arbitration and walk in 2023.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil1122</b></div><div>My guess is that they trade Fiala for a cost controlled center after this year</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>They'd have to give him a raise next year when the buyouts are even more expensive.</div></div>
I guess this isn’t the best contract
I will change my vote to no

They were all UFA’s. Heiskanen got about 8.5 and Makar got 9, I can’t see Hughes having more leverage than both of them.

Columbus Blue Jackets signed Zachary Werenski (6 Years / $9,583,333 AAV)
I'm a cbj fan who tries to avoid being bias but here's my take
- third highest amount of goals for dmen since he came into the league while playing for ....torts.
- buys 5 ufa years and has him expire when he's 30
- if this is the "columbus tax" I'm fine with it. Its 1.5-2M more than it should be but if it gets a young star to stay here and rep the city, ultimately its worth it.

(ANA/CAR) - Hakanpää + 2022 6th round pick for Fleury
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>INeverPlayedHockey</b></div><div>People who voted for Anaheim winning trade don’t have a clue of what Hakanpää has been doing all season. It’s scary how much Carolina defense improved. A very solid move by Carolina.</div></div>
You also need to point out that Hakanpaa is going to likely be one of the cheapest re-signs on the UFA market because of how under-the-radar he is. Good player, though.

They have like six top-4 defensemen and more in the system. Sakic is as good a GM as he was a player.
