I heard it's his shoulder that's an issue. Must be from carrying the team the past few months.

Boqvist should be our 13F. But he has his games where you can see it, there is a quality player in there trying to get out. Then, he disappears for week.
McLeod has been fine for the role he plays. Least of our worries. But I think Wood needs the upcoming break more than anyone. He has clearly tired as the season has progressed. I am guessing it’s from taking a whole season off last year. The legs just aren’t there. But it could just be the injuries have slowed him. Either way, he doesn’t have that speed anymore.

I think break-up the bottom two pairs. Smith & Okhotiuk could not get the puck out of the dzone
Palat -- Hischier -- Bratt

Tatar -- Haula -- Mercer
Wood -- McLeod -- Bastian

Somewhat agree on Wood.
Somewhat disagree on McLeod.
But now that Bastian is back...I'd give the BMW line some time to be that effective checking line from first part of season.

Fiala went for Faber and 1st. Meier shouldn’t be much more than that. Mukhamadulllin and 1st, maybe little bit more.

This is the ideal return for Meier. In fact I think take out the fourth and add SJs 3rd (via Carolina) going to NJ.
But overall, a 1st, Holtz, and Mukh is the return that I would feel really good about. You can even make it a 2024 First instead if thats what makes it happen

Meier to NJD
Devils get their top 6 scoring winger and Sharks get a future top 6 scoring winger. Meier is basically everything that the Devils want Holtz to be. Two similar players that fit into different time frames one for a rebuilding team and one for a contender. Let me know what you sharks/devils fans think.

The lines last night were perfect. Once everyone is back to speed I’d go:
Ovi - Strome - Wilson
Milano - Kuzy - Mantha
Sheary - Backy - Osh
Mojo - Dowd - Hathaway
Could flip Milano, Mantha, or sheary between those three spots. Could also keep shears up top.

Zetterlund and Holtz sitting for last few games is not how I expected things to go.
But the one thing has been consistent with Lindy's lines...he doesn't change them after a win.
So I think we will need to see a "L" before they return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icedragon4405</b></div><div>So you do have a point but my problem is ok they don’t want these guys but don’t lose them for nothing, the vrana trade was awful even if Mantha would have kept performing the way he did in Detroit it still would have been awful that trade was really bad and Vrana was good same with Sprong look at how he was with the caps during the short season and how he is now with the Kraken and all they got for him was rental Mojo who is often not doing much and then just randomly shows up. If they don’t want to utilize those high skill one-way players that’s one thing but they need recognize their value when they give them away</div></div>
Obviously Bmac knows more about Vrana issues than we ever will but moving him out and a bad contract was worth it to him to take a bit of a loss. I like Mantha and just hope he stays engaged more which is what he has struggled with over his career but he fits in fine with this team.
I don't have a strong opinion on Sprong myself. I am glad we got Johanssen for him because he is always in position, is a real smooth skater, is very good at keeping possession and making the right plays, can play effectively on the PP, and can carry the puck in on said PP. He has fit in perfectly on this team and is having a good year also.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markykins1</b></div><div>I agree with what you have here but a thought just occurred to me: Are they keeping Eller in to keep his value up so that when it in fact does come time to trade him March 1st, then they can get the most for him? Otherwise if he is often scratched and sitting in the press box all the time it might give teams the impression that he's not worth trading for?...maybe it's a stretch I don't know...</div></div>
If that's the case, I would think they should trade him now. I can't see his value improving from now until the trade deadline, so I think they would try and deal him now in case they can receive any more value by having 40ish games left instead of 20ish games. As much as we want Eller gone to improve the team, I think MacLellan fears breaking up the locker room by trading Eller, so I can't see him getting traded, and the best fans will probably get will be having Eller possibly scratched.

That line would be fire with Oshie tenacity plus Backstrom passing between him and Mantha, high skill.

Slight nit-pick would be keeping Gustafsson and Carlson away from each other, since I don't trust either one of them to play consistent defense (amazing offense though, I'll give them that). Otherwise, these look good. I like the idea of trying Kuzy on the PK.

First off, I like Eller. I think most here appreciate his good 3rd line play and PKing over the years. We all know that this might be his last year here. He shouldn't be in or remain in the top 6 for long but I think Lavs is sending the strongest signal that he can to Mantha and his low intensity play. To raise that intensity up and keep it there consistently. Lavs has said he will get back in the lineup and I think it will be pretty soon. You can see now that the trade between the Red Wings and Caps was one loafer for another as both have had struggles. I think if Mantha simply can not float as much (only Ovi is allowed to do that on this team), he will be a solid contributor soon and for the playoffs because he can make a difference and have success here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Smitty426</b></div><div>Holtz on the bottom line is useless. Zetturland's heavy play is suited much more for the 4th line.
I think they are in a weird spot. They have depth which aloud them to win in Car. But also they need some more heaviness to them. I think if they make the playoffs this will become very apparent. Next year Haula is gone, I think Tatar too. I think All of your scratches are used for a trade for a power forward. I think Blackwood is moved or allowed to walk.</div></div>
I agree heavily on Holtz. He's setup to fail on that 4th line. He doesn't play anything like the other two. I too would much rather see Zetterlund on the 4th line and Holtz on the 1st and let him either prove to be a thing or a bust, but don't just walk him into being a bust by expecting a big time shooter to be a two-way guy on a counter attack fourth line...
As much as I did not like Zacha, the 3C spot is the most crucial to me to become a deeper group and get that line going (that being if you consider any McLeod line the 4th). I just am not confident in Haula enough to be satisfied, but I don't know if Mercer is a 3C as much as love his grind. We have been relying on Boqvist there and it's be disappointing UNTIL last night.
