Jets Reality

Morrissey is younger, better, and a lot cheaper than Doughty. His cap his is $6.25M long term, idk where you’re getting $12M.

But there’s a problem which no one mentions
Winnipeg is a market that wont support losing. Which was a factor in the Jets 1.0 leaving town (and the weak a*s Canadian dollar at the time)</div></div>
I don’t care if they leave WPG. If their fans don’t wanna support the team, then that’s on them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Since you're flipping Doughty, don't you think that Bailey, Bolduc, Kupari, Petersen, Roy and three seconds is a little excessive for Morrissey and Appleton?
That's without regard to your complete misconception about the respective DEFENSIVE abilities of the two defensemen.</div></div>
Doughty has a terrible contract, Morrissey is a top 10 defenseman, and they’re retaining that awful contract. Not to mention they’re taking on Paterson’s contract. You have to pay for that.

Idk what you expect for WPG to get if you think a bunch of 1sts, 2nds, and young players is awful.

Doughty is worse than Morrissey and it’s not close, especially when you include age and contract. Kings would jump at an opportunity to move him, especially for Morrissey.

Move Kyrou Krug Scandella - Pick-up 1 LHD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RClay321</b></div><div>I can't stand Blues fans sometimes. Kyrou is the most dynamic offensive player the Blues have had since a young Tarasenko and everyone hates on him because he lacks some defensive consistency.</div></div>
He’s literally one of the worst defenders in the NHL and Tarasenko was much better.

Helly Read Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>That's a pretty laughable offer for a retained Hellebuyck. I know the OP is well known for lopsided offers in Carolinas favor, but this is bordering on a troll proposal. No attempt at being realistic or fair to both sides.</div></div>
He literally says its a framework

Helly Read Description
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>He's the jets Top priority of expiring ufas next year. Wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of extension talk as soon as possible. Realistic he's not being traded as a Rental as we could trade him with an extension in place. The likelihood he resigns is quite high considering the jets don't likely fully rebuild but more of a retool similar to Nashville in some ways. Nashville got futures this year for guys not in the long term plans, mind you they may be rebuilding but you don't see them shopping saros. Goalies of Hellebuyck's caliber don't come around often let alone traded mid prime with hardware. I get goalies tend to see a decreased return so I'd be content with keeping easily our best player.</div></div>
They’re almost certainly going to trade Saros either this offseason are at the deadline next season. The Preds are a fringe playoff team with no real way to become an actual playoff team due to their contract situation. They also have one of the top goalie prospects in their system. Saros is nearly certainly to be gone and he’s gunna get them a lot. It makes no sense for the Jets not to trade Hellebuyck. He’s going to be 31 and the Jest are not remotely near a cup contender. By the time they are, he will be in decline. He’s also probably gunna want 5+ years at $7M or $8M AAV and that’s just not a smart thing for a retooling/rebuilding Jets to do. The smartest thing for the Jets to do is to move him this offseason and ask for either a plethora of draft picks; like a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and another 2nd, or two 1sts and a prospect, or something. The Jets have no future with teams like Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota, Vegas, LA, Edmonton, and Seattle in their way, and teams like Calgary just having a down year. Not to mention, St. Louis and Nashville will be hot on their heels the longer they wait to commit to a rebuild. He’s a great way to jumpstart it.

Dont rebuild
And how is this proposed roster better than Carolina, New Jersey, or either New York team? Not even mentioning the Atlantic.
