<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>He's the jets Top priority of expiring ufas next year. Wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of extension talk as soon as possible. Realistic he's not being traded as a Rental as we could trade him with an extension in place. The likelihood he resigns is quite high considering the jets don't likely fully rebuild but more of a retool similar to Nashville in some ways. Nashville got futures this year for guys not in the long term plans, mind you they may be rebuilding but you don't see them shopping saros. Goalies of Hellebuyck's caliber don't come around often let alone traded mid prime with hardware. I get goalies tend to see a decreased return so I'd be content with keeping easily our best player.</div></div>

They’re almost certainly going to trade Saros either this offseason are at the deadline next season. The Preds are a fringe playoff team with no real way to become an actual playoff team due to their contract situation. They also have one of the top goalie prospects in their system. Saros is nearly certainly to be gone and he’s gunna get them a lot. It makes no sense for the Jets not to trade Hellebuyck. He’s going to be 31 and the Jest are not remotely near a cup contender. By the time they are, he will be in decline. He’s also probably gunna want 5+ years at $7M or $8M AAV and that’s just not a smart thing for a retooling/rebuilding Jets to do. The smartest thing for the Jets to do is to move him this offseason and ask for either a plethora of draft picks; like a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and another 2nd, or two 1sts and a prospect, or something. The Jets have no future with teams like Dallas, Colorado, Minnesota, Vegas, LA, Edmonton, and Seattle in their way, and teams like Calgary just having a down year. Not to mention, St. Louis and Nashville will be hot on their heels the longer they wait to commit to a rebuild. He’s a great way to jumpstart it.
