Ehlers

We give up a roster player and a decent prospect, and 2 firsts... with the way this team has drafted the past 10+ years I have very little confidence they're hitting on those picks anyways, the 2nd rounder we pretty much got for free in the Greene deal and we're getting back a young defenceman and a later pick along with a 1st line winger</div></div>
Resign Gusev to 4x$6 million and keep the picks, prospects.

I respect your opinion but Ehlers is a 1st line winger at 24 years of age, signed through 24-25 on a super cheap deal. He's not going to come cheap

trade with NJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>royle9</b></div><div>I mean I suppose that's fair.
But now consider that NJ has been "rebuilding" for years now and its not working. How many more times do you want to draft in the top 5, top 10 before you consider it time to move on?
Also have to take into consideration Johnny is from Jersey, lives on the shore in the off-season and his fiance lives hours away.
He's made it clear he'd love to play for his hometown, if any Jersey fan thinks he wouldn't re-sign in NJ they are insane.
With that being said any time you're acquiring a 90+ pt winger you're going to have to give up something to get him.
The 7OA pick's chance to come even remotely close to the player Johnny is is staggeringly slim. Not saying it cant happen but very few players in the NHL consistently put up those point totals.</div></div>
Have you looked at where JG is from in Jersey? South Jersey. He's a Flyers fan who grew up watching his favorite team lose to Marty Brodeur et al for his entire childhood. He's not taking a home-town discount to play with NJ when his dream is (probably) to play with PHI.
Agreed on giving up to get something back - but personally, I draw the line at the 7OA. We should be selecting a future top-6 winger (please not a Zacha repeat). I also think if they are going to move their mid/late 1sts, they should be looking to go after defensemen. Frankly, I think JG is a bad fit given the current landscape of the team.

BLM Holdouts - NBA Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bflo_Soldier</b></div><div>Choice A for both, by a mile. If you don't know they have a weapon or are an imminent threat, you're not justified in using deadly force. This should be really simple to figure out.</div></div>
You're literally talking about fractions of seconds from seeing the knife to the person stabbing you with it. Real life isn't the movies. If Blake grabbed the knife in the car with intentions of using it (I'd assume he wasn't gonna cut up a turkey dinner for them with it) it would've taken exactly 1-2 seconds for him to stick it into that police officer. He wouldn't stand there and do little tricks with it for 5 seconds like its an Indiana Jones movie, he would've ****ing stabbed him. Then that officer would be dead and never see his family again and no one would care. Were they supposed to shoot him in that 1 second interval from them seeing the knife to the knife being lodged in the officers throat? Were they supposed to shoot him after he was stabbed? And even if there wasn't a knife the officer is supposed to put his life on the line to see what this goof is gonna pull out of his car after they'd just tazed him for resisting arrest?

If I ever resist arrest and put them in a dangerous/potential life threatening situation they have full permission to cap me on site. Why should I be allowed to put their life in danger? Why is my life more important than theirs? Everybody knows the likely outcome when you resist arrest, yet we still do it... why don't we talk about that?

There's a lot more to crime statistics then what you read on the surface level, and the socioeconomics play a larger part in it than race.</div></div>
Oh I know I'm not one of those eugenics people I think it has much more to do with poverty and family structure than it does with race. Thats why I think it would be more helpful for black people to combat poverty and end mass incarceration (more black males in jail = less black fathers) than just marching whenever one of them gets shot by the police

It really isn't that hard to not get shot by the police
1. Don't break the law so the police don't have to be there
2. Do what the police tell you to do so you can get out of the situation. If you don't do what they tell you to do when they have guns pointed at you, I don't know what to tell you chief

The fact is that the overwhelming majority of Americans of all races support law enforcement. But, you'd never know that based on the media's bias and fake news. The NHL must not become a political entity. They will alienate their fanbase. We need to recognize that we all are entitled to different viewpoints. I respect the NBA's decisions, but I don't agree with their politicization of sports. Sports are supposed to be a haven from politics.
