https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfS38Mi4VevuLNAaTJRyAn_elf-vec2ndp29_xPaIfoXYp2Dw/viewform?usp=sf_link

This is time sensitive. Bog voting will close friday at midnight eastern. I expect all 32 gms to vote as this carries significant weight.

Team Swapping Ends at the same time bog voting does.

Bog list with gm spots was made using most recent team assignments. If the gm of the team is not correct on the voting form due to more recent team trades I went off the most recent version I had.</div></div>

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Given the above information, with both BOG voting AND team swapping officially closing Friday Sept 24th at Midnight EST here's what I can propose to everyone.....

1. Allow the new BOG to be announced Sat during the day

2. Allow the FINAL team list to be completed Sat as well

3. I invite everyone to create their new team page, but please still DO NOT PUBLISH until Saturday evening (ie. AFTER 9pm EST)
This will allow enough time for me to get home from work and prep myself for the barrage of mentions coming my way.

4. At this time (and this could change) I still do not have confirmation of a new game forum being created, so here's my plan as of now...
Un-sticky all the v4 teams in our current game forum
Move all new teams into this current forum and sticky each thus creating essentially the new v5 game forum
All current threads related to v4 will be closed and possibly deleted so new ones can be created when the time is right and after having a chance to consult with the new BOG (as long as they allow me to be a special guest in their private club, or unless I somehow get voted into the group itself)

5. Most of you know this, but as a reminder and to let any new GMs know, when you are given the go ahead to "publish" you new team page, AFTER you click "publish" you must go back in and comment on your page to tag me so it's simple for me to find it.
So to repeat, create-publish-comment-tag <a href="/users/flamesfan419" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@flamesfan419</a>
I've cleared my mentions so I expect to see 31 mentions only starting Sat night (yes 31 because I'm not tagging myself)

Most importantly, even though pages will be moved and start filling up the game forum, PLEASE DO NOT START MAKING/POSTING TRADES until the entire league has been given the OK from the newly formed BOG.
They will have some work left to do before announcing an official start date for v5.
Your enthusiasm is great, but patience is all I'm asking for at this time. The end result will be more than worth the slight wait.

Thank you, this now concludes my TED Talk. You may all now resume your regularly scheduled program.

<strong>V4 Season 2 Playoffs

Stanley Cup Finals</strong>

<strong>#4 Tampa Bay Lightning at #2 Carolina Hurricanes</strong>

The Lightning won series versus the #13 LA Kings, the #5 Calgary Flames, and the #1 Colorado Avalanche on their way to their 2nd consecutive GM Game Finals. Also returning to the Finals are the Carolina Hurricanes, who swept the #15 Vegas Golden Knights, toppled the #7 Ottawa Senators, and beat the #3 Toronto Maple Leafs along the way. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the game this season and thanks to all GMs who voted for the playoffs.

Game 1: Tampa scored a couple quick goals on the road and didn't look back, taking the first game of the series in decisive fashion. The young goaltender of the Hurricanes looked a little shaky in his SCF debut. Shesterkin stopped just 18 shots and the Lightning were able to frustrate the Canes shooters by keeping everything to the outside and away from danger. TBL wins 4-1. Arvidsson with the GWG.

Game 2: The Hurricanes lost home ice after game 1 so they really needed a response to avoid falling into a big 0-2 hole in the series. Game 2 looked very similar to the first matchup between these sides, with the Bolts securing an early lead and taking advantage of their counterattacking opportunities as the Hurricanes had to push for more offense. Conor Garland's opening tally proved to be the game-winner as Tampa won 3-0 on the back of an Andrei Vasilevskiy shutout. The Canes were in trouble, down 2 in the series and looking for a spark as they headed into enemy territory.

Game 3: Enter Jordan Binnington. The streaky goalie that wound up as the backup in Raleigh was given the net for game 3. And he did not look nervous. As Darren Pang put it best, "Binnington stood on his head and spit out wooden nickels" all night long, frustrating the defending champs into over-passing and missing their marks. Still, the Hurricanes couldn't find any chinks (sorry Justin) in the armor of the Lightning's Russian goalie. This one went to overtime as a 1-1 tie. With 8 minutes left in the first OT period, Alex Goligoski found ice on the weak side, received an area pass, and made no mistake burying into the top corner over the glove of Vasilevskiy. The veteran defenseman's 8th playoff goal was the biggest of his career. The series was heating up - the Bolts had a 2-1 lead heading into a huge Game 4.

Game 4: As the Little Giants put it, "it looks like Mr. Momentum may be changing his address". The Hurricanes were firing on all cylinders in Game 4. The ice had tilted for the visitors. They applied waves of pressure and made the nerds that read the "deserve-to-win-o-meter" very happy. Sebastian Aho scored a goal in each period, finishing off a hat trick with an empty netter to seal the game. Canes win 5-2, Aho's 2nd period goal was the game-winner. The away team won each of the first 4 games of the series. All eyes on Raleigh, North Carolina.

Game 5: As you would expect, Game 5 was the tightest-checking affair of the series. Neither side wanted to give anything up; the team who scored first had won each of the first 4 games, so both sides understood the importance of defending their net. Minutes into the 3rd period of a so-far goalless affair, Roman Josi was sent off for 2 minutes for sending a puck over the glass and Steven Stamkos capitalized on the ensuing power play to give the Bolts a 1-0 lead. The Canes had to make a push to get the next goal, and thanks to some slick passing from Adam Fox and Ryan Getzlaf, it was Chandler Stephenson who provided the answer halfway through the 3rd. Game 5 went to overtime and early in extra time Pavel Buchnevich found room between the legs of Vasy. The shot barely snuck over the goal line. The Hurricanes had now won 3 straight and had the defending champs on the ropes. Canes win 2-1 in OT.

Game 6: The crowd in Tampa did their best to rally their team to force a game 7. This game had everything. At one point, the game was so chippy that each team was playing with 3 skaters on the ice and a small crowd in each penalty box. There were goals, too. 9 of them, to be exact. The Hurricanes tied the game at 1, then 2, then 3, but ultimately a power play marker from Nikita Kucherov in the 3rd period gave Tampa a 4-3 lead, and 2 empty netters sealed off a 6-3 win for Tampa.

Game 7: Stanley Cup Finals Game 7. Binnington vs Vasilevskiy. The showdown to determine the 2021 v4 Stanley Cup Champions. It all came down to 60 minutes... or more...

Carolina had control of the game early on, forcing turnovers and putting the pressure on the Lightning defense. The Canes found an early lead thanks to a point shot that was deflected 6 feet in front of the goalie, who had no chance after the redirection. The Lightning scored the second goal of the game to level the score, one apiece. With 12 minutes left in regulation, despite Carolina owning a majority of the scoring chances in the game, the Lightning scored a huge goal to take a 2-1 lead. Eight minutes stood between them and another cup ceremony. But Carolina didn't give up. Immediately following a timeout, with the extra skater on the ice, the Canes found the back of the net to tie the game. The crowd erupted. Game 7 was going to be decided by sudden death overtime.

There wasn't much happening in the first overtime period until a blue line turnover quickly became an odd-man break. The only man back went to the ice to take away the cross-ice pass. The puck carrier held on as long as he could to find an opening before firing a beautiful wrist shot. Mika. Zibanejad. Overtime Hero. Canes win Game 7 and win the Stanley Cup.

Thanks again for a great season and thank you for reading! Congrats to the Carolina Hurricanes.

<strong>V4 Season 2 Playoffs

Round 3 Results</strong>

<strong>#4 Tampa Bay Lightning at #1 Colorado Avalanche</strong>

The Avalanche made a late push to capture the President’s Trophy and haven’t had any problems advancing into their third round series against the #4 seed Tampa Bay Lightning. So far, the Avs’ impressive depth and elite top line has covered for their riverboat gambling defense and their wingers slotted into the center ice position. The Lightning convinced the GMs that despite being a 4 seed, they were the stronger team, winning 55% of the vote in the series. Game 1 and 2 went to the away team, with game winners coming from Stevie Stamkos and Tony Cirelli. Asking Colorado to travel into enemy territory and capture two wins to even the series was a tall order, but thanks to OT winners by Nate Mackinnon and Mitch Marner, they were able to do just that and set up a pivotal game 5 matchup. With time winding down in the 3rd period, Mikael Sergachev received a puck off the draw, dangled to the middle of the ice, and beat Philipp Grubauer with a wrist shot into the top corner. Game 6 was the end of the road for the top seed Avalanche. A stellar performance in net by Vasilevskiy and a couple clutch goals from short kings Brayden Point (who else?) and Connor Garland propelled Tampa to the Finals, 4 more wins away from a historic GM game repeat… who is gonna stop them? <strong>Bolts in 6. </strong>

<strong>#3 Toronto Maple Leafs at #2 Carolina Hurricanes</strong>

Carolina took home ice into the semifinal matchup against the Leafs from Toronto. The defensive group for the Canes is the best in the league, would they be able to keep the potent Leafs offense from advancing to the finals? Game 1 set the tone for the series, with plenty of scoring chances, punctuated by Jakub Vrana’s electric snipe early in the 3rd period, which turned out to be the game winner. Game 2 was a back-and-forth affair, finished off by a slapshot off the stick of Ryan Pulock. Controversy in game 3 thanks to a surprise pre-game interview on the TV broadcast with Dougie Hamilton in which the former Cane ripped management for trading him, complained about a lack of museums in Montreal, argued that the first round series between Montreal and Edmonton was “rigged and unfair”, and cried about Tampa having a chance to repeat despite being $18 million over the salary cap. On the ice, it was Pavel Buchnevich that took a feed from Seb Aho and deposited the rubber behind nice-guy Jack Campbell, who apologized to Zach Bogosian despite the big man’s clear incompetency in defending the play. Game 3 game winner, good night. The series was sliding away from Toronto in game 4, and game 5 ended the series thanks to a colossal performance from Sebastian Aho, who led all scorers with 8 points in 5 games on the series. Ladies and gentleman, we have a Stanley Cup rematch. Bolts and Canes. 4 wins away from eternal glory. <strong>Canes in 5.</strong>

<strong>V4 Season 2 Playoffs

Round 2 Results</strong>

<strong>#9 Edmonton Oilers at #1 Colorado Avalanche
</strong>
The Oilers, led by Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, were going to have to knock off the top seeded Avs if they wanted their playoff run to continue. The series started in Edmonton, where the Oilers supporting cast helped them out to an early 2-0 series lead. The Avalanche showed a little rust but as the series headed to Denver, their big guns on the top line were able to even things up. Mackinnon had the GWG in game 3 which capped off a hat trick on the night. Game 4 was all about Mikko Rantanen and Mitch Marner, who actually did something in this virtual playoff series. After they tied up the series at 2-2, it was the Avalanche who took the next 2 games in decisive fashion to advance to the 3rd round. 8 down, 8 to go for the top seed, but this will be where the going gets tough. <strong>Avs in 6.</strong>

<strong>#7 Ottawa Senators at #2 Carolina Hurricanes
</strong>
All eyes were on this titanic matchup between two serious cup contenders. The Senators were riding Semyon Varlamov all the way up to the #7 spot in the final rankings, but he started to sputter in the 2nd round matchup and the Sens quickly found themselves down 3 in the series and in need of some magic. Game 4 was a classic, capped off by Miles Wood burying the GWG off of a bad Carolina change near the end of the 2nd period. The Sens held on for dear life in the 3rd, with waves (storm surges?) of scoring chances coming from the Canes. The Senators staved off elimination for a second time in Game 5, this time in Raleigh, and the series was still alive headed back to Ottawa. Mika Zibanejad scored the OT winner in Game 6 for the Cardiac Canes, who will be headed to the 3rd round thanks to their elite center depth and endless brigade of top pairing defensemen. <strong>Canes in 6.</strong>

<strong>#6 New York Rangers at #3 Toronto Maple Leafs
</strong>
The Rangers got the bounces they needed to move past the best team in the league in the 1st round; were they going to carry that puck luck through to round 3? In their way sits the Toronto Maple Leafs, who can only make it to the 2nd round in a fantasy game where nearly all of the actual players were traded away. The GM vote gave a pretty significant edge to the Leafs. They jumped out to a 3-0 series lead thanks to some stellar play by their top pair of Pelech and Pulock. The Rags season was on the line in Game 4, and they pulled together to get the W behind a power play marker from LA Kings legend Brayden Schenn. Game 5 was the Auston Matthews show - 2 goals and an assist led the way to a Leafs win and a spot in the semifinals. <strong>Leafs in 5.</strong>

<strong>#5 Calgary Flames at #4 Tampa Bay Lightning
</strong>
The Bolts entered this series with the eye of the tiger. They looked hungry to get their names on the cup again, and a back-to-back was starting to look like a real possibility. But the Flames weren’t going to hand anything to them. The simulator, thanks to the GMs that voted heavily toward the Lightning, pegged the Bolts as heavy favorites. But that didn’t stop the Flames from giving everything they had to keep this one close. This was the third series out of the four in round 2 to start out with a 3-0 leader. The Lightning were looking to sweep, but the Flames came roaring back and tied it up, 3-3. In game 7, the defending champs flexed their muscle and sent the Flames home… but they had a lot to be proud of after grinding this one out. <strong>Lightning in 7.</strong>

<strong>#16 New Jersey Devils at #1 Colorado Avalanche</strong>

The Devils made a late push to get themselves into the playoffs, but any hope they had of advancing was quickly dismantled by an Avs team led by their lethal top line of Rantanen, Mackinnon, and Marner. The GMs gave a 74/26 edge to Colorado, and despite a couple of strong efforts, the Devils were sent downlike a big pile of snow falling down a mountain. Avs in 4.

<strong>#15 Vegas Golden Knights at #2 Carolina Hurricanes</strong>

In a surprising midweek interaction, the Vegas GM seemed to verbally concede this matchup between the re-tooling Golden Knights and the Canes. If it was a puzzling move then, it shouldn’t be puzzling anymore, as Carolina absolutely gobsmacked the Golden Yikes. Fans spent more time arguing about who the number one defenseman is on the Canes than debating who will win the series. The voting in this series was the most lopsided of any in the 1st round, 79/29. VGK got some puck luck in games 1 and 4, but ultimately failed to come away with a single victory. Canes in 3... err 4.

<strong>#14 Vancouver Canucks at #3 Toronto Maple Leafs</strong>

Only one team would advance from this heavyweight Canadian matchup. The Canucks made a late-season push after playing the rental market like a fiddle and coming away with a shutdown 3C and the greatest goal scorer of all time. But the Maple Leafs were consistently strong all season and weren’t about to be bullied in round one. The voters set this one to be a pretty tight matchup - 53/47 for TOR - and the Leafs jumped out to a 3-0 series lead, so naturally their fans went white with fear. Vancouver took the next two games thanks to clutch goals from Brendan Gallagher and TOMAS TAATTTAAAAAAR. Game six ended on the stick of Oliver Bjorkstrand thanks to the mustache power of his linemates, Fil Forsberg and Papi Matthews. Leafs in 6, good series.

<strong>#13 Los Angeles Kings at #4 Tampa Bay Lightning</strong>

Just like in the real world, Tampa was able to make a big addition to the roster for the playoffs as the former MVP Nikita Kucherov recovered from his offseason surgery with perfect timing that could be nothing short of coincidence. The Kings meanwhile, suffered a massive hit when their top line center Dylan Larkin was lost to injury before the series. The GMs did not vote particularly tight on this matchup, and Tampa used that 75/25 voting advantage to win the first 4 games of the series and advance to the 2nd round. The Lightning cited Cody Ceci as the key cog in the series win. Coach Jon Cooper said “Caca Peepee is a gamer, he competes, gets pucks deep, wins battles, and can be trusted in all situations.” Bolts in 4.

<strong>#12 Dallas Stars at #5 Calgary Flames</strong>

If March Madness has taught us anything, it’s that the 12v5 matchup is built for upsets. The Stars entered the series with some new faces after their GM had a busy few weeks leading up to the trade deadline. The Flames made some moves of their own, including a move that sent center Bo Horvat to the Stars in exchange for Roope Hintz. Horvat, centering Swiss model Kevin Fiala and Dallas’ new sniper Patrik Laine, was out for revenge on his former team, but it was the Flames that prevailed in this close matchup. Calgary, voting favorites at 53%, took the series in dramatic fashion, winning on a game 7 overtime goal from Matt Tkachuk. Flames in 7.

<strong>#11 Winnipeg Jets at #6 New York Rangers</strong>

The Jets searched for a gamebreaker to add before the deadline, but their GM ultimately decided to move a couple of upcoming free agents and focus on the future. Still they entered the playoffs with a high-octane offense led by 2 of the top 7 goal scorers on the season. The Rangers have a strong veteran core and spent a lot of time near the top of the standings, earning the #6 seed. This was the closest series of the first round - the GMs actually gave the #11 seed Jets a 50.5% edge. No surprise to hockey men everywhere, the defense and goaltending became key factors, and the Rangers were able to edge out the high-powered Jets. Rangers in 7.

Detroit made a huge push at the outset of the season, and again at the deadline, to get themselves into a contending window. The Senators did the same thing, moving prized prospects for proven stars. The Wings suffered from no.1 d-man Aaron Ekblad going down to injury, and the Senators star forwards took full advantage of the opportunity in this series. Drake Batherson was the most noticeable Sen on the ice at times, and with teammates like Patrick Kane, Mark Stone, and Sean Couturier, this is extremely high praise for the youngster. <strong>#9 Edmonton Oilers at #8 Montreal Canadiens</strong>

Edmonton and Montreal, another Canadian matchup with great teams and loads of talent. I wish we could’ve seen this one played out in real life - McDavid and Draisaitl versus Crosby and Malkin. The voting was tight as expected. Montreal received a 52% voting share and with home ice advantage, entered the simulated series with a slight edge over the underdog Oilers. The Oilers stole a game in Montreal, but the Habs returned the favor in Alberta. What would a playoff series be without a Nazem Kadri suspension? A high hit to teenager Ryan Nugent-Hopkins resulted in a suspension to Kadri for the remainder of the series. With a 3-game set to determine the winner, it became the Connor McDavid show. The clear MVP choice was just too much to handle in this one, and Edmonton pulled off the upset. Oilers in 7.
