<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JenniClayton</b></div><div>For sure, it’s totally debatable. I think Veleno looked better last preseason, had a better WJC (given his role), a better regular season and has looked better this summer. I totally agree that Zadina played much tougher competition last season and his 16+19 in the AHL is more impressive than he gets credit for. That’s a really tough league and a difficult adjustment, especially given it was only his second year in NA. My opinion is that the body of work over the past year has been more robust for Veleno and he has looked better side-by-side this summer, IMO.</div></div>
Well that was a very reasonable response. IMO I think putting up decent (but not eye-popping) numbers in the AHL for an under-20 player is usually the more impressive feat as opposed to seemingly scoring at will in Junior. Best time to compare them on an even playing field would have been at the WJC but that Czech team wasn't particularly strong whereas Veleno had a lot more support on team Canada. I didn't tune in for a moment of the rookie tournament so I won't speak to eithers performance (I also don't put a lot of stock into those results either) but both should get a long look during the preseason.

JFV 7 goals in the tourny and looked amazing, I get what you are saying! Unless he destroys preseason though I bet he starts in grab rapids to get him used to the pro life and schedule. JFV, seider and Pearson had a bomb of a tournament

Deadline maneuvers - NYR-PIT-COL-DET - input requested
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JenniClayton</b></div><div>To me, Glendening and Brown are similar type of players.. I prefer LGD over Brown and Brown has a higher cap hit. I also prefer Jensen to Ohziganov. So to me, there is negative net value coming to Detroit between those two player swaps, which is why you added the second - to even the value, which I can appreciate. I do not think a second round pick, however, is not enough to close the value gap for those player swaps. I know LGD and Jensen are not high-end players, but they are core players, important to the culture in Detroit which (artificially) drives up the asking price. I think Detroit would do something around Liljegren, Connor Brown, Ohziganov and a second or third.
Would Toronto even want a guy with Glendening’s contract? My understanding is that they plan to cycle players on their ELC in the bottom six moving forward. Not that $1.8M AAVis a ton of money, but it’s only $300k less than Brown, who seems destined to move this summer because his cap hit is too high.</div></div>
For me it's more a matter of finding a 4C. I actually prefer Brown to LGD but that's just a matter of opinion. You're right though, ideally I wouldn't want anyone on the 4th line making over $1m especially given the offensive talent we have on our top 3 lines...it's just frustrating for me every time I see the Leafs' 4th line go out there with Gauthier and the wingers are creating scoring chances that just go by the wayside with him there...not that a 4C needs to be great...it would just be nice to see a little more competence there. The reality is that his $675k AAV is his most attractive feature.
I'd guess the leafs would walk away from an ask the includes Liljegren unless there's an impact d-man coming in and/or a major salary being moved out.
Either way...I think it'll be a seller's market this TDL since so many teams are within 3-4pts out of a wildcard and there might only be 3-4 teams truly out of it.

My line-up prediction
Agreed just swap 2nd and 3rd line locations. I think it starts like this for first 9 games and zadina goes back to GR with chevy coming to play 4th line minutes and abs/helm moving up until goose is moved at the deadline then he comes back up

Agree, and Kronwall has highly restrictive NTC, doubt if Montreal is on his list of "move to" teams.
The usual too high trade value for Patches.
