He is mesmerizing. Gets a half decent move then turns around a poops all over it - over and over again.

As a yotes fans this is good for them cause obviously we are cheeks and got some assets, but man this helped Panthers build what looks like a nasty lineup. Should be a fun team to watch, hopefully they make a run.

Potentially freeing up cap space to sign Suter?
Suter - Ekblad
Forsling - Weegar
That'd be a pretty good top 4, depending on the contract/term.

Any cap hit that is south of 9 million is good for the Stars IMO.
His career as an elite NHL defenceman is just beginning.
I voted yes :)

So many people here seem to think one year of Nick Pual is more valuable than a 9th overall pick (the $ no big concern) which is really astounding like wow 😳
The prime of one of
Kent Johnson
Chaz Lucius
Cole Sillinger
Fab Lysell
Mason Mactavish
Is 10x as valuable as a year of Nick Pual
Naturally

Would you rather Petey on an 8x8 contract, or a 5x2y then a 11M+ x 5 years?
The 2021 picks are kind of a crap shoot because a lot of the prospects didn't play/were limited/scouting was difficult due to travel restrictions.
You could still bridge Petey/Hughes then get someone big from FA, or make a splash and get another capable D/Forward with the 7M saved.</div></div>
Na man. It’s simple. They can get by without dumping players with picks.
And I disagree. The draft lacks a generational talent but the top 12-15 are NHL players and these kids have been scouted for years. I don’t buy your argument and neither does the OP or they wouldn’t be suggesting getting the pick.

Vancouver should take that deal in a heartbeat. Paul is a high energy player, fantastic Penalty Killer, and has really good speed for the Bottom 6. And you take 9M off your cap which allows potentially longer term deals for Petey/Hughes if they are asking for higher AAVs.
I was going to say that was an underpay for Paul. But I'm pretty high in him as a player.

Not too far off IMO... Amirov over Liljigren though. If Nashville is going through a rebuild theyll be looking for prospects thatll be ready in a couple years not now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KANYE_IS_KING</b></div><div>I didn’t think about that. So you think maybe it’s be easier going after Granland? He’s cheaper and expiring next year so maybe Nashville would be willing to retain half on him for a lot less?</div></div>
Yes, and Dubas is on record that unlike his strategy in previous years, this season it may make sense to go after a UFA as his primary target. Granlund as the forward allows Toronto to go 8 and 1 for Seattle, exposing Kerfoot and Engvall as the qualified forwards and Holl and Dermott on the back end, thus assuring that 5 of this season's 6 primary defensemen (plus Sandin and Liljegren if not traded) return.

My issue isn't about the value of the respective trade elements but the entire Forsberg-Ekholm strategy. With Forsberg, you have 5 forwards you have to protect in the expansion draft and with Ekholm you have what seem to me to be 4 defensemen you'll want to protect. So how do you resolve that conundrum short of an expensive side deal with the Kraken, thereby adding to the cost of the acquisition?
I like the oft-suggested Granlund-Ekholm alternative much better. I wonder who proposed it first?

That is a great question. I'm no Nashville fan, but I'd imagine if they were packaging their two best assets with that much retained salary they'd probably want Sandin. He's got a higher ceiling than Liljegren. But some TSN people have said that he's close to untouchable, so I'm not sure.
But my guess is Sandin has to factor in there.
