Another Drouin Attempt

Everyone and the hockey world is wrong, the stats and facts are wrong, you are right, how did we miss that.
Take off the rose coloured glasses here, he slumped for 23 games to end the season and got relegated to bottom 6 minutes when the team was trying to push to make the palyoffs. thats not 1 bad game</div></div>
Are you really this daft? He was not relegated to 4th line minutes during his struggle. One google search and you can see that he played all of 2 games with 4th line minutes and and only 8 games under 15minutes...it literally took me 30 seconds to search this.

Another Drouin Attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>Did you gloss over saying hes an inconstant offensive player, you are making my point for me.... Scoring in bunches and then going silent...thats exactly what an incomplete player does . Whens hes scoring and on, he brings a lot to the table, but with his lack of effort issues and his inconsistent scoring...when hes not scoring he brings nothing due to his lack of defensively ability
Dzingle doesnt have the upside since he is the older player but he scores the same as Drouin but is better defensively and can play all positions as well (drouin is not a C lets not pretend he can).</div></div>
No. You are mixing up incomplete with inconsistent, you are the one who is glossing over what i’m saying. Drouin is a complete player, he backchecks, gets involved in the play, but is more offensive minded therefore loses his man sometimes in the defensive zone...not everyone can be Bergeron, but that doesn’t make them an incomplete player. Are Kane, Pastranak, Marner incomplete players too? Also, Drouin doesn’t just score in bunches and then go quiet, he was as consistent offensively as most of the top 50scorers in the league until he hit a wall. The reason he hit that wall is because he trained as a center and bulked up, and when he went to the wing, probably was playing too heavy. this offseason he’s getting back down in weight to get his speed and stamina back. To say Dzingle is in anyway comparable to Drouin is laughable at best. It’ll be fun to watch people eat their words next season.

Another Drouin Attempt
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>Drouin is the same as Ryan Dzingle in terms of production. Lets stop pretending there is some giant new ceiling he could maybe hit after 5 years and over 300 NHL games under his belt . Hes getting to the point that this is who he is and you are now seeing his baseline in terms of production</div></div>
My god this is a hot take. You obviously have never seen Drouin play. He had 46 points in 56 games before he hit a wall and got third line minutes. It's not his skill which is in question (which is miles ahead of Dzingle by the way) when he's on he is the most dominant player on the ice...it's his consistency that is the issue and that is more of a maturity thing. Most of us Habs fans think he'll be just fine thanks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BB8</b></div><div>3C, Prospect D (Top AHL/NHL possibility), and 1st Rd Pick doesn't do it?</div></div>
The thing with Drouin is that his ceiling is really high, we don't know where he'll top out at yet. With his skill he should be around a 70+ point player, but he's had consistency issues. Many like myself (and probably Habs management) are willing to wait to see if he reaches that potential in the next couple of years. So Colorado would have to give up something for that high potential and a 1st round pick is not going to do it. You would have to really entice us and that player might be Girard.

The most you can retain is half...how many teams want to pay over 2M on a back-up goalie? It just doesn't make sense for most teams unless there's a major injury to their starter and their back-up is too weak to handle the load. Even then, there are much better options than Allen out there.

Habs are set at goalie, if there's no incentive to take on Allen's contract then's it's just not worth doing the trade.

Montreal trades Chariot and a 2nd for Gusev...see what I did there, now I've just set the bar higher for other teams interested. Depending on how high a team values the player it could go up much higher in a bidding war.

Kulak and Mete by committee can certainly replace Leddy and his 14pts in 74 games. I really don't like Leddy's game myself.

Buying out Alzner and running with the youth for 2021 season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaptain_Kanuck</b></div><div>So oddly, buying out Alzner next year still doesn't make sense. His cap hit in the 20-21 season would be 3.9mil if you buy him out but if you bury him in the AHL his cap hit is 3.5mil.</div></div>
The logic behind buying him out next year is that the caphit of 3.5M is in a year that we will have plenty of cap space and then it lowers to 1.96M the following year. If we buy him out in two years then the caphit will be 2.29M when we have to Sign KK, Poehling, Gallagher etc... I know it's minimal savings but every bit counts.

Romanov has another year on his KHL contract so he can't come here, and I doubt he would come over if he was offered third pairing in the AHL (unless this is your NHL D line-up?)...Alzner is a fringe NHL player and should not be on the first line with Weber. Switch Alzner and Mete, and it's slightly better, but Jack Johnson is a terrible Defenceman.

Just switch the date then lol. But if you read the description this is for the 20/21 season and the buyout period starts just before the draft I believe. With the draft positions known, I doubt that any team will give a top 5-10 pick for Petry (usually those teams are rebuilders).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Kulak's a fringe NHLer...he played in Laval last year...not sure how that means Top 4!</div></div>
LOL Kulak went from AHL to Bottom pair to Top 4 in one season (without injuries to other players). He scored 17 points in 57 games while only averaging 17 minutes of icetime. Not to mention his advanced metrics are really good. This would actually hurt Montreal more than you think to trade him. Weber is also a unicorn, consistently scoring 20goals a year while playing top PP and PK minutes and shutting down the best...I think he will be able to get to 40 years old and provide quality hockey. If not, it's no biggie, Nashville has the cap recapture if he decides to retire...either way, like I said, thinking about it now I would rather keep Kulak and let Chi worry about their Cap problems when Kieth inevitably declines.

Bergy trades with Bowman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>haha, this is such a bad move for CHI. They have PLENTY of BETTER D prospects than Kulak. He's fine, but he'd be a toss in piece and you're saying he's the main piece. He's 25 and fighting for NHL time on his 2nd team. Keith's on the same page and Weber. In fact...they're stats are essentially the same last year...and Weber actually had some help. CHI had 1 guy...Keith. Complete bias trade in favor of MTL. It's not even close to value.</div></div>
REGRESSION...it's a real thing look it up. Chi is going to have to come up with money to pay for their young prospects (jokiharju, Beaudin etc.). Kulak is a good top 4 placeholder for cheap and on a short term contract until those prospects are ready. Also, lol at comparing Kieth to Weber...they have totally different playing styles. Weber relies on his positioning and smarts whereas Kieth uses his speed and puck moving more. I would say that Weber's game is more sustainable (like Chara). Anyway, now that I've thought about it, it's much better to leave Chicago with that anchor of a contract. Montreal can just buyout Alzner next year and it would count for peanuts against the cap...we're fine either way.
