They actually have lots of depth at C.......they lack depth on the wings. If they had Wingers, they could have McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, down the middle.

Crazy Trades
you rave about Kassian being tied with elite players like Malkin, Barzal etc 5v5 but look who he plays with. Kassian, Chaisson, Maroon all had success with McDavid but that does not make them comparable to the likes of Malkin and Barzal. Kassian is overpaid and has too much term. Holland made a blunder with that signing.....as I am sure you agree since you are trying to move him

how much should kassian be paid
I think 2x2. Sure he is putting up good numbers but he is playing with McDavid and Draisaitl. Remember last year Chaisson put up career numbers also playing with them. Basically 97 and 29 helped Chaisson and Kass hit career highs. Chaisson went from a PTO to a big payday, no need to go crazy with Kass either

I think Holland has done a great job this off season. He never made a mistake of signing UFA's to overpriced long deals. He also got rid of the Lucic contract. We will not see Holland's true team until next season where all the Chia bad contracts except Koskinen and Russell will be off the books. At that time we will see what a Ken Holland team actually looks like.

No Dzingel - WTF Holland
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Who wants the Oilers to overpay? Have you not been following? This whole thing started when Carolina signed Dzingel for LESS money and LESS term than was predicted. Panik, Dzingel, Ferland, Connolly - all signed for less than was estimated, all would have contributed to an improved roster over last year.</div></div>
the guys signing for less money and less term are not coming to edmonton. That is just a reality. The only way to get a player under a decent term and cap hit are via trade and the Oil are not deep enough to do that. If they wanted Ferland or Dzingle, they would have had to overpay to make it happen. That is why I am ok not overpaying

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>They do not need complimentary pieces...they have a terrible bottom 6, terrible goalies, and a bad D core. Fix that first</div></div>
if the Oil had any production from the bottom 6 last year and if the goalie made some saves, they would have been pushing for a playoff spot. I am ok with the moves made so far. Short term deals for bottom 6. Do not make ridiculous overpayments or guys who are barely a 2nd line guy. Bakersfield has some great options but most are likely a year away. Stay the course and see what we have this year. Chia is getting destroyed by everyone saying he was the worst GM ever but these same people want the Oil to overpay again. It might suck but keep drafting and once there is more cap space, spend wisely. Nurse will be looking for a raise next year. If he is asking for north of 6.5M like other dmen are now, I would move him too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafboy101</b></div><div>but marner when he played without tavares in 2017-18 he was still the leafs leading scorer playing with different people every few games, draisaitl wont be a 50 goal 100+ point guy if he plays on a line were he is the star, i put $100,000,000 on it he will not perform as well unless he is with McJesus</div></div>
I am not saying Draisaitl will play as well without McDavid. You were saying 8.5M he better be the star of his own line. Look at other players around the league and the new contracts that will be signed. 8.5M is a steal for 50 goals 100 points. Who cares who he is playing with, as long as he puts up numbers. You are ok paying Marner 11M to also be a winger who will not even reach 100 points. Draisatl will have a much better contract value than Marner. 100P for 8.5M vs potential 100P for 11M. Also.....Marner will never be as complete as Draisatl. The Oil still use Draisatl for a lot of face-offs and he scores more than Marner. Now if the leafs paid 8.5M for Marner than maybe it is more comparable but on another one of your posts, you were signing Marner to 11x6 so I assume you think he is worth 2.5M more than draisaitl

but you're ok with Marner being a winger at 11x6, next to another 11M centre. What is wrong with Leon being a 50 goal, 100 point winger for a steal at 8.5M?

Cap issues solved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>& I think you don't know what you're talking about. There's 0 chance he gets over $11M. He's not better than Kucherov or Stone or Kane. His best comparable is Kane and his deal coming off ELC. Kane's second deal was a cap hit percentage of 11.09%, against an $83M cap next season that works out to $9.2047M which is right around market value for Marner on a similar 5-6 year deal. What has he done that says he's worth almost over $2M more than Kane if you're suggesting he deserves $11.325M? There's no logic to that amount and anything over $10M is an overpayment.</div></div>
How do you feel about Nylander making more than the big 3 in Boston? Salaries have gone crazy the last couple years. Only a short while ago 6M per season was a big number but now teams can have half the cap used on 1 line

TOR fans - RFA signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>IMO, highly unlikely Holl sees regular minutes next year and Liljegren is probably still a Marlie. So your team posted, Leafs are three players short on the roster....that's at least 3m, and 1.5m. ever the cap.
Where to find 4.5m? My suggestion trade 7m Nylander and find his replacement for 1.5. That leaves 1m in cap space. A retired Marleau solves most of the cap problem, but we'll just have to wait and see.</div></div>
I agree if Marleau was retired it solves a lot of problems but I doubt he hangs them up when this team is such a contender. He wants to chase a ring. Trading Nylander is exactly what needs to be done but many TOR fans go crazy with that suggestion. I am just wondering how else do you plug in a defence and sign everyone unless he is moved
