LVGK - mostly 25 and under
Trying to stay young and keep it realistic. Barrie, Brodin, Ellis and other top D will not be available despite what auto protect says. Those teams will make moves, or side deals with Vegas, to keep the guys they absolutely don't want to lose for nothing. Building with youth, under team control for a few years is the route to take. Grabbing older, maybe slightly better players with a year left on term isn't smart for a team trying to start from scratch. The few I think they do draft ( in this scenario - Stempniak, Hansen, Schenn) will be traded off to stockpile picks and prospects. Just my opinion. Like all of you, I'm not a professional GM so go easy on the negative comments. :cool

If they stay at 14, depends on who goes before they pick, but Fabbro if he is there (I doubt it), maybe Stanley or McAvoy if they go D first which I think they will. If they choose a C, Bellows should be there at 14. I'd like to see them trade the pick in a package and move up to the 5-8 range for either Logan Brown Tkachuk or Jacob Chychrun.

Red Wings Only Thing Needed
Well done! I was lucky to see him play several times when I was a kid. Nice tribute, onicapla.

Goalie Idea
If Calgary was looking to trade the 6 pick for a goalie, I'd call Stevie Y in Tampa and ask about Vas. He'd be a better help than Rask long-term.

Canes 16/17
I would love to see it work in Quebec but I agree with you, long term, it probably will not. That is too bad because the league needs more teams north of the border IMO. The league is greedy and will probably move them to QBC just to collect the relocation fee knowing that the team may fail within 10 years and have to move again. Kind of like expanding to Atlanta twice and watching both teams leave there for Canada.

CBJ Cap Moves and No 1 Center
I totally agree Marco. For whatever reason, maybe I left the page and didn't put it back in, but, the Johnson trade was supposed to bring back an additional pick, I think I had a 2 or 3 in there originally.

CBJ Cap Moves and No 1 Center
I was looking at a few moves here and moving Johnson was strictly a cap deal to 1) make the RNH trade, and 2) have the roster flexibility to bring younger guys in (Milano, Rychel, Werenski, Puljujarvi). In two years new deals will be needed for Milano, Rychel, Jenner, Atkinson and Murray. Somebody with a large cap hit and no NTC had to go. I would've tried moving Tyutin or Hartnell but not knowing who they would list as a team they'd go to made it hard to include either of them in either trade.
The RNH deal may seem lopsided but consider that EDM will shake up their roster and trade one of their top young picks from the past few years to fill holes and add character to their team. They get a good top 4 D, a young 3rd line C who could play his way up the lineup in a few years, a good 3rd line F (Calvert) and a young D-man with good size who can crack their lineup in 2 years.
It's all subjective anyway, I'm trying to create deals that are fair both ways but not everyone will agree. That's why we are all making these imaginary deals from our laptops and not actually running an NHL team. Appreciate all of the feedback, good and bad.
