Yeah, but rn we're 3 injured centers away from having a competent and complete roster, no harm in throwing him there and seeing how he does at this point.

Joshua Roy is untouchable
Love Roy, love his game, his play, his compete, wouldn't trade him for anything less than bucket loads of picks and a-b prospects, but realistically he's not untouchable. It was a steal to get him in the 5th round and he's developed into a player I can see staying with the team until the end of the year, but he's still unproven. I'd give him the chance to prove himself before I'd trade him, but right now, today, if someone said Roy for Zegras one for one I'd do it.

What next
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>The next step is continued patience.
The only pressure point right now is unladening our surplus of LHD, which preferably involves adding a potential scoring forward.
Newhook and Anderson will have their opportunity to assert themselves on the 2nd line next season with a healthy Dach.
This will likely be Anderson's last opportunity to prove he can be an effective producer in this team's system.
Newhook will have a longer leash, but will need to start showing whether he is a top 6 contributor or more likely to end up as a 3rd liner.
Those opportunities won't be there if we add an NHL ready top 6 option immediately.
If the right deal comes along for an NHL ready top 6 winger, you can add them to the competition for a 2nd line spot, but there's no rush for a Zegras or Johnston if it's going to cost us a higher end asset like a top 10 1st or Hutson.
As much as I like Struble and the possibility of Engstrom becoming a staple, our offense needs a threat from the back end and we have to determine if that is Hutson before we even consider moving him.
Same for Barron. We need to stick with him until we can confidently define where he fits, even if it means he doesn't make it and loses all value.
When we move Monahan, Matheson, Savard, Harris, etc., we will have expendable assets towards targeting a forward without dipping into our high end prospects/picks.
I'd take Johnston, but there are a few players that are a hard no to moving and Hutson is one of them.</div></div>
Your first line "Continued patience" perfectly sums up what Montreal needs > What the fans want

Marner the Hab V2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Where did the "he's not a playoff performer" narrative come from? The Leafs are bad in the playoffs, true, but Marner has put up good points his last few playoffs:
14 points in 11 games
8 points in 7 games
Seems like a superstar delivering in the playoffs to me...</div></div>
It's less so the stat's and the overall strength of play that gives him that reputation. Even Matthews come playoff time is willing to throw the body, take a hit. Playoff's comes down to players who put their bodies on the line for the team, Tkachuk for example last year with the broken sternum, played through it until he physically couldn't anymore, I hate the Tkachucks but respect. Nylander a few years ago had a really ****y play during playoffs, was lazy chasing down a puck that would've been icing if he had put the effort in. He's a really talented player but that one weak play in a close game infuriated all my leafs fans friends for months afterward.
Marner panics, he's a little soft, purely on points he's had more bad playoffs than good ones. So yeah imo he hasn't figured out how to play postseason YET.

Just don't think Marner is a good fit for Montreal. And before I hear "wHO DoSeN'T WaNt A HuNDrED PoINt PlAYEr?" I mean that he costs too much from a rebuilding teams perspective (The offer above is still a little short imo), he's not a playoff performer he just doesn't have that grit, and at 8th Overall Montreal can get a really good core piece for the future.

Montreal discussion after 41 games read bio
So to start with the trades, I agree with almost everything, all the players in the gone by TDL this year is fine, I don't think we're going to get a huge return for Gally (Or Anderson unless he continues to step it up), Gally doesn't have the value required to get a good return, he's too old at too much cap hit. That being said, Gally should retire a Hab, or even if he'd like to resign for pennies and play 4th line for a few more years after this contract is up.
Where I mainly disagree is your understanding/opinion of who constitutes the core. Evans/RHP (or even Barron IN THE RIGHT DEAL) can be traded if the right deal comes along.
For the trades I just don't see the team trading Wideman, he's spent the entire year on LTIR, he's on an expiring deal, and he'd be a contenders 7th or 8th D, even for a 7th round pick he's just not that player anymore. What he is however is a room guy, Caufield, Dach, Slaf, Dvo, the dressing room seems to really like him.
For the Edmonton trade I feel the value is off for Montreal(But I will hear the opposite shortly so whatever), Montreal doesn't really need more LHD, Campbell's contract is too awful to pickup, and Holloway is just kinda meh. Not great for a 2/3C, a 2nd pairing shot blocking monster, a solid 2G a depth D, and PEZZ.
Too much given for Zegras imo, Beck and a 1st would be my initial offer, and I'd only add Harris if that was refused. Plus Anderson doesn't actually help Anaheim, no one wants him right now.
Matheson is worth more.
And finally Lindstrom despite being ranked at 8 is likely to go much higher, even potentially 2nd depending on how the draft goes.

Realistic
Montreal says no, not enough value for Monahan (Montreal doesn't need LHD, we already have way way too many. Torgersson is being outperformed by the Defenseman in Montreal's system, let alone our actual forward prospects. That leaves an unproven goalie and a 4th)

24-25 Idea
Montreal says no, not breaking the bank in a rebuild for a Zegras, not showing enough potential to be worth two firsts (The last person to trade two firsts was Tampa for Brandon Hagel, both of those picks are less valuable than a potential 6th overall on a rebuilding team)

That being said, fans are pissed about Berube being fired. A lot who don’t understand the process of turnover blame Armstrong which there is blame to be had there. So Kyrou making a seemingly pointed remark rubbed a lot of people wrong.
It’ll blow over. It wasn’t pretty tonight. But it’ll be water under the bridge soon enough</div></div>

I think Anderson could honestly work with Matthews. Having Knies Matthews and Anderson on 1 line would be a pain in the ass for the opposing team lol</div></div>
The great part about Anderson (When not in a terrible slump) is that he can play anywhere on the lineup and drive play, I'd hate to play that line tho, Knies and Andersons physicality plus Matthews' goalscoring, no thank you.
Montreal is over stacked with D prospects at every level so if there's a forward or goalie prospect you think would work as well that would probably be what Montreal would ask for in a real trade.

Anderson at his best is worth a first, decent point production, good physicality, etc.
Anderson right now is worth a first to get rid of.
Meet in the middle, include the retention, and say maybe a B level prospect and a 3rd-5th rounder

Kyrou's answer being "He's not my coach anymore" just to me at least came off as him remaining very very neutral/ matter of fact-ish on the subject, like he can either be "I hate this decision" and have management be mad at him, or he can go "I love this firing" and have the fans be mad at him. So he just stayed neutral and the fans are still mad at him, like maybe he could have said "He was a great coach but now its time for a change and I am focused on being the best moving forward".
