Fair Question Mark
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lyle_Bubas</b></div><div>EDM would want more than that, but the value isn't worth even that. Also, the whole proposal of this trade invites a discussion as to how good Matthews is vs. McDavid right? That's not an important thing to bring up?
Goals/60 since 16-17, Matthews is 1st, McDavid is 25th, MacKinnon is 29th. Points/60 Matthews is 10th, McDavid is 3rd, Mackinnon is 11th. Defensively Matthews is way better, blocks shots, tied for most takeaways in the whole league, not to mention WAY better on faceoffs
McDavid is flashier, faster, and a generational passer, but Matthews is essentially the equivalent in terms of goal scoring. McDavid is better overall and the 'sexier' player to have on the team, but I don't think it's a radical concept to at least consider keeping Matthews over McDavid, esp when it's not 1 for 1</div></div>
The main reasoning for the giveaway fallacy is the fact that McDavid is a puck possession player. He drives in 1v4 almost half the time and often gets a half-decent scoring attempt off despite those odds. Matthews benefits from this because he is a finisher, not really touching the puck unless he's firing it in.
Secondly, McDavid is always looking to pass. Only when there are no open options does he take the shot himself. Matthews is a shot attempt machine. 339 vs 504 to be exact. So you see, on 200-ish more attempts, your guy pot in, what, 5-10 more? This suggests McDavid has a very underrated and extremely UNDERUSED shot.
Anything else while I'm at it, champ?

this logic makes absolutely no sense. by that logic, might as well trade everyone then as they might walk when their contract runs out right? leafs lose this trade easily

Do SJS accept
I hate to start this conversation again, but to those that say Burns is really bad... they need to start watching some games and maybe understand the deeper meaning of the beast Brent Burns.
We all know he has the defensive liability tag, not gonna argue that. Also he had his best year in 2018-2019 and that wasn't even the year he won the Norris. Burns is much more than just a D-man, he is a hard working leader that some nights looks like a 20 year old winger with his dangles and offensive upside, and some nights he is a hard hitting D-man that never actually gets injured.
<strong>He is like a fine wine and somehow only gets better the older he gets</strong>. If you only take his last season to account, you are just lazy at seeing the bigger picture.
If Burns played for Toronto, I promise the team would be a lot better. I dare to even say that he can bring them to 2nd round or further. He has that experience with Sharks, that haven't got as good of a offence as Toronto. Its not just the points, its the experience. He is an elite for a reason.
And NO I don't want to see Burns gone. I like him as Shark and without him we wouldn't have the same success. But under the circumstances I would understand if they traded Brent Burns #88.
Sorry for the rant, but fans of other teams just see one bad season (because of a bad team) and it seems like all of sudden he is a new Dion Phaneuf in their eyes.
EDIT: Bad season meaning = 70games 12 goals 33 assists = 45points +/- = -22 (on a bad team all together)

Marner to NSH
I like the idea of trading Marner over Wllie. 1. Marner Has a big contract, but would get a big return. 2. Willie is a good center-man, fills the hole in our top 6 c when an injury happens, 3. Willie is underrated, 30+ goals last season and people don't give him enough praise. 4. we have up and coming wingers that can replace Marner at somepoint in the next 2-3 years 5. I've been a Nylander fan since the beginning, go Willie!
