Sad truth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>I don't know what <a href="/users/Wqrrior" target="_blank">@Wqrrior</a> was going to say but he is right. Gusev is unproven at the NHL level. Most teams will protect themselves from that. Couldn't imagine anyone giving up a pick higher than a second without conditions on performance.</div></div>
That is why Vegas ends up signing him

Sad truth

The report the Knights were asking for a 2nd and a prospect were not accurate, Granger (who reported it for the Athletic) clarified that it was what other teams were offering, not what Vegas was asking for.

trade for gusev
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>chrisgoalie39</b></div><div>Maple Leafs reply with an offer sheet and get him for a 2nd round pick and keep Bracco. Silly Vegas fan.</div></div>
sadly, Gusev is one of the players that can't be offer sheeted. other's that can't are McAvoy and Boeser I believe.

This is it for Vegas Holden and Eaves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PhillDaThrill</b></div><div>What is the rational for Vegas to do this terrible deal?</div></div>
agree, the only reason Vegas is even entertaining trading Gusev is because they want to limit losing more roster players. If they dump Reaves and Holden there is no need to trade Gusev and Schuldt

New look
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lilebroer</b></div><div>Most likely not. But C. Miller would be a good player for them. He’s been in the league for a while now, on a pretty good contract, could put up 30-40 points a season, given the minutes.</div></div>
Oh yeah for sure he would but Norris was one of the central pieces the Sens got in the Karlsson trade, can't see them moving him already and I don't see Miller being a fit for a rebuilding team.
Vegas should keep Miller and move Pacioretty.

What about
That is 3 lines of power, you kept Eakin and Engelland. You sir might have done it line wise, can't comment on the trades

Karlsson would need at least 7-7,5M... so you need to shred +/- 10M$$$$
Send Reaves back to StLouis with a 4th round pick for a 5th.
Eakin could be sent back to Dallas as Spezza will be off the book.
MTL would take McNabb & Haula for couple of youth unexpensive player like: Thompson as 4C, Juulsen + 2nd. (NO SUZUKI, NO POEHLING, NO BROOK, NO 1ST) it is to accomodate both team.
D would look like:
Schuldt- Schmidt
Theodore- Miller
Merrill- Holden
Hague & Juulsen in backup.
F: Glass would take the 3rd C

2nd try - EK65
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>DeMelo was 3rd pair last year, and an unsigned UFA until just before the trade. He's good, now, but he was a throw in. Miller was a top 50 offensive defenseman last year, although mostly with power play points, and he plays 2nd pair. This year he's slipping to 51st. It's not the same value, but it's more than half. I think Miller's worth summer '18 DeMelo and one 2nd, but not two? Meanwhile, Karlsson is slipping to 20th, potentially slightly lowering the price (except that Burns won't be top ten forever, and keeping EK in reserve is a strong move for SJ, especially if a low point total dampens his contract demands).
What about adding Ship and Gusev? If they are done with Vegas, the clock is ticking to get something for their NHL rights. It's still not the best offer, but it's closer. Maybe throw in Haula if you really want to get SJ motivated?</div></div>
If Karlsson signs an extension with Vegas, then it'll be Haula, Miller, Leschyshyn/Coghlan a first, second, and third. That's essentially what SJS paid for EK last summer. But Karlsson is a rental unless he signs an extension. So if it's just a trade where maybe he'll extend, maybe not, then I'd make it Haula, Miller, Ben Jones, and a conditional first.
