Utah 2024 Roster Shuffle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tmljk22</b></div><div>He won't be but he also will be extremely close given that he was leading into a extremely invasive spinal surgery. I mean look at Meier or Tkachuk or even Guentzal. The deal you presented is only competitive with the Guentzal deal which was essentially pure rental at the deadline.</div></div>
If the Hurricanes re-sign Jake than I think it is closer to that than the Eichel deal. But If Jake walks I agree Marner will get a better package

As an outside party to these I would say they seem pretty equal. Although I do think you are overpaying a bit on Zegras. But Ducks fans are so high on him its crazy

Winnipeg would want someone better than Ostlund and Ehlers would instantly be a top line player for you.

It frees up cap space, brings in a younger backup goaltender for Charlie and removes the log jam we have at RHD without making us retain on Darcy

Utah 2024 Roster Shuffle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tmljk22</b></div><div>Yes, they should shake up the core but that trade may as well be Marner for Schmaltz straight up, it's no where near even diminished value for Marner. Think about every star player traded in the past and then build around those trade frameworks. Because the one this resembles the most is Eichel with Schmaltz being the Tuch of the trade but instead of Krebs, a first, second and third, its a bunch of nothing</div></div>
I can understand that point but I do not think he will get quite as much as Eichel.

I doubt Utah will be doing the same thing the Yotes were doing. Instead of constantly getting more and more draft capital for an everlong rebuild I see Utah trying to be competitive right away

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>I've long thought Washington is the team that's going to take Connelly. They have a long history of taking guys that other teams had major concerns about to take swings on upside (Lapierre with concussions, Miro with Hodgkins, Cristall with translatability, etc)</div></div>
I would agree with the idea of them taking Connelly, but I think they vet everyone they draft in the first round or two very well. If Miro was healthy and did not have that diagnosis he was seen as a top 10 player in the draft. The Capitals looked at raw talent there and saw someone they felt was worth their pick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaloverofthegame</b></div><div>Caps Trade: I don't think caps should give up on Kuemper for one bad season. Vejmelka won't help the caps anymore than Kuemper & why trade TVR? he's solid for us & they don't need to dump cap.
Leafs trade: cmonnnn, besides schmaltz, those other 5 pieces mean nothing. There has to be at least a first & top prospect or leafs will just hold imo. Quality > Quantity</div></div>
Personally I do not see it that way. I think they need to make a change and dismantle that core. Take the best offer but make something happen. Don't be happy with the Status Quo of making the playoffs just to take an L to the Bruins every single year

Give me a run down of what makes them brutal.
Caps trade: Utah moves a goaltender that had rough numbers for another with rough numbers but gains a shutdown RHD and a 2nd rounder.
Leafs trade: Utah gets another top line player to pair with Keller and the Leafs add a good top 6 winger/center option, a former 2nd round prospect in the Russian system, a heavy playoff style center to help them down the stretch and multiple pretty decent picks

The Caps do not need LHD at all. All three of their LHD are under 25 and they have 3 coming out of college that will be going to Hersey/South Carolina. Plus Hardy-Aktell is still an RFA for us. We definitely need either RW or RHD

I just put up a post. Send back Schmaltz (a good top 6 player) Fedotov (A prospect with some pedigree) Bjugstad (Someone who can be physical in the playoffs) and a package of picks

I would not trade But if I were Utah. He has intangibles that cannot be taught and he is coming into his own in the KHL. He will be a very very good NHLer in the near future.
I mean he was a teenager averaging close to 0.50 ppg in the KHL. He has some amazing potential.

Caps should take that all day, they would only end up moving back a small amount and the additions that we would receive are good. The only way they don't do this is if someone they really want falls to them at 17

Leafs fans are off their rockers thinking that a defensive liability is going to get more than Tkachuk got in return. Sure Hubby was coming off a good season but he was older and had no term.

Capitals Shake up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>Not sure if the op got changed, the way it reads now, the Sabres are trading Rosen for dowd. I think dowd is a fit for buffalo, but I don't think the Sabres would trade Rosen for him. We have too many small skill forwards coming up, I'm open to moving some, but for a rental it seems steep. Rosen was a 14th overall pick a few years ago, the amerks coach has been pushing him to add strength, and trying to develop his two-way game. Maybe that's why his 50 points in 67 ahl games this season don't jump off the page, but he still seems like too much to give up for a rental. Plus, the gm that drafted him is still here, I think adams would move him, but it would have to make sense. There's probably a pick or two that would be easier to give up.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Agreed
(Assuming we were interested)
I think it’s much more likely we’d simply trade a pick for Dowd,
as opposed to Rosen
Even though we have a surplus of young forwards,
Adams clearly doesn’t want to move any of them
At least not YET….</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>He's gonna have a busy summer I hope. Do you think the Sabres are gonna have an internal cap, or are they just leaving some runway for signing a bunch of kids to second contracts?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>I think this supposed “internal cap talk” is just a bunch of BS from the crybaby fans who need an excuse to hate on Pegula
We’ve gotta sign Byram, Quinn & Peterka after next season
All likely to significant deals that’ll take up a bunch of Cap
So i could see us adding guys like Dowd, etc
Guys who only have 1 year left on their current deals,
or UFAs to 1 year deals
That way we have the Cap free to sign our young guys</div></div>
My bad I forgot that I swapped that. Originally I had Jensen going to the Sabres but than I swapped it to Dowd because I thought they could use a good shutdown center over another defenseman

Jensen is not a rental he has term on his contract. And even than you need RHD and you have a stockpile of young forwards so I was trying to take the Young forward who is not one of the top 5 young guys up front

Without knowing what the off-ice issues are exactly, makes this hard to say whether or not he is worth moving back a round for him. If it is a mental health thing that he recovers from than I could see someone moving back to grab him for a relatively cheap price. He was a high end piece for Vancouver and couldn't find his stride in D.C. maybe its the system or maybe its what he needed to go into the NHLPA program for. Hard to tell, but i feel like if he was cleared he would make an ideal Blackhawk if he came back to form
