The Trade
This is an Oilers fan's Fantasyland trade. 🙄
This is what happens when you come up with a trade and then keep tweaking.
What if I add this to the Oilers side? What if I add that? What if I subtract what the Habs get?
I applaud the effort though. I'm sure it makes sense to you. It's just too 1 sided. 🤣

Your likely, not getting a retained Lindholm for that
If you look at the Cap Space area you will see why Schmidt needs to be included in any 2C trade proposal</div></div>
Jets also have less than zero need for Stanley...why not get someone who is actually physical for the playoffs for basically nothing?
I think the Lindholm offer is competitive but if retention is the issue, I simply wouldn't do 50%.
The cost to move Schmidt scares me. If it's reasonable, then pull the trigger, but I am not moving him for a 1st or something like that.

But i can’t see why we’d take Samsonov
He’s playing like crap & you’re offering us nothing to take all that Cap off your hands
Just doesn’t make sense for the Sabres

Agreed, there are a lot of Leafs fans here and most of them place absurb values on the players they want to trade away.

On the Rocks
A 3rd line winger, a bottom pairing RD and a late 1st rd pick isn't getting Noah Hanifin out of Cajgary. This offer is easily beat by better teams with better prospects.

More creative swing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>A 70-point guy in a system actively hampers him has less value than Byram Bowen... really?</div></div>
He’s hit 70 points once (barely) and other than that he’s been a 40 point winger and he’s on pace for 60 points this year.. calling him a “70 point winger” is a bit of a stretch.
A young stud defenceman that’s signed to a contract past this season is worth more than a second line winger who needs a new contract in a few months. Any day.

Tolvanen and Larsson
Jake Muzzin without retention cost a current first plus Carl Grundstrom and Sean Durzi when he was traded with a season plus left on his deal, so I think that you're a little optimistic on Adam Larsson's price when you're asking retention on him. But this may be in the ballpark. To me, the issue is whether Seattle would feel a need to trade Larsson at all; he was an original Krak and then they signed him to a long-term deal. I'd be surprised if he's actually on the block even if Seattle is out of it by the trade deadline. But we'll see!

Marner Trade
Once again, you've mis-represented our position so egregiously that I doubt it's unintentional. What <a href="/users/palhal" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@palhal</a> and I and many others have said is that one season plus of Marner isn't worth two seasons plus of Kempe, especially when you factor in the indisputable fact that it will be easier for the Kings to re-sign Kempe than it will be to re-sign Marner, for both numerical and affiliational reasons.
But thanks for the shout-out.

I was glad that the Rangers got him and not some mid or bottom team. I would like to see him win a cup this year, if the Jets doesn't ofc 😁</div></div>

Winnipeg says no to all.
The Jets don't need a bottom pairing PP specialist, so Barrie is out.
Insane overpay for two rentals in the Calgary deal. When have rentals ever returned that much?
The Jets don't need bottom pairing defenseman, so they aren't trading a contributing bottom sixer for one from CBJ.
They Jets can't afford to trade one of two RD they have for a winger they don't need with a bad contract.

Winnipeg Jets signed Nino Niederreiter (3 Years / $4,000,000 AAV)
Good for Winnipeg to lock up a top 6 forward and provide some stability for the franchise going forward. The AAV is really good for what he provides; I'm sure the last year or so will be a little high but the cap increase should offset that easily; but it's low for now so evens out.

A lot wrong with this for me. Levi isn't for sale, that's problem one. If you look at the Sabres current build- their top 3 defensemen are all left handed, signed long term, and only Samuelsson is defense first and somewhat physical. What they don't need is undersized offense first defensemen. If it's me, I'm looking for right handed physical defensive d that have the ability to play in the top 4. Our defensive zone is still a breeze for the other team to play in, the front of the net is a safe place to play, and an aggressive forecheck leads to high danger chances galore. I understand that young goalies are voodoo, I'm absolutely sticking with Levi to see where it goes, and Spence and a second does absolutely nothing to make me reconsider.

Jets dream deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jets12Kozy</b></div><div>Salo is shutting down top lines in the SHL at 19 years old.</div></div>
Change "SHL" to "Liiga" and you're describing Robin Salo, who was drafted #46 after his age-19 season. He's played 31 NHL games to date, and it's been almost a full calendar year since his last appearance.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jets12Kozy</b></div><div>Lucuis has looked filthy everywhere hes played <strong>barring injury</strong>.</div></div>
Emphasis mine. Lucius is back on the ice now, but for how long? I don't doubt the talent, but he's had an inauspicious start to his professional career.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jets12Kozy</b></div><div>A "proven commodity" on pace for 0 goals and 11 assists this season, Boqvist was a dime per dozen mobile Dman putting up ok numbers on the pp.</div></div>
What Boqvist is doing now is hardly relevant to how his value was perceived at the time of the trade. When he was traded, he was 21 years old and had already been given playoff minutes and been trusted to be the PP QB on a team that still had Duncan Keith. Acting like he wasn't a desirable trade chip after the 2020-21 season because he's struggling in the 2023-24 season is revisionist history.
I also stressed the proven commodity idea because the Islanders have *not* proven all that well at developing mid & lower-tier prospects. Going back to 2016 (so all of Lou's drafts + the 2 years before that, since those were all U21s that the Lamoriello regime inherited & developed), the Islanders have had a grand total of 4 players drafted after the 2nd round (out of a potential 33) actually appear in the NHL. And even though they've had 9 of their 13 1st+2nd rounders get NHL time in that span, the general consensus is that any player not named Noah Dobson has been a bit of a letdown. This is why, if I'm entertaining the thought of trading the only draft success story this team has had since Mat Barzal, I would be looking for something more concrete than guys with red flags like Lucius and Salomonsson.
