It's gonna take a 3way, and then some, to get this done. Put your thinking caps on.
My crazy proposal:
Marner to LA; Marner signs extension
PLD bought out by LA
Montreal sends LA something to incentivize the buyout so they can sign PLD as a UFA (ie Dvorak for LA's 3rd)
LA sends ______ to CBJ
CBJ sends Laine to TML
It's gonna happen.

Even if they didn't get that strange bounce, Pastrnak was 1st to the puck and he would have gone around the net & fed a wide open Geekie. That was probably the play they drew up.
What more can you say about that series. It went almost exactly as predicted, except the animosity and open ice died down as it went along. Boston barely beat a them despite their injuries, and the physical defensemen Treliving added helped them out quite a bit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>Leafs will be matadors.
Bruins have 3 shots total their last 2 first periods. Haven’t won a clinching game in a hot minute.
The Bruins will be visibly over aggressive to counter those trends, and the leafs will Ole them, converting counter strikes.
It’s never helpful when the thing you’re gonna do feeds directly into your opponents strength.
The game will be over in the first intermission. The rest an awk passing of time, occasional slow pan of the bruins bench makes you question who remains on the squad next season.</div></div>
They choked away the last 2 chances to put the series away, especially considering the crazy disparity in special teams. But game 7s rarely have anything to do with the previous 6 games. It's almost always about mistakes.
All Boston has to do is get 2 sog in the first period and they've already had a better start. All the Leafs have to do is score a PPG in the 1st. All Florida has to do is lick their chops and get Bennett healthy.

Hot take: Lohrei and Jarnkrok put themselves in bad positions. Especially Lohrei.
But considering Reaves is playing, the odds of him taking a bad penalty are high. The Leafs have a lot of players that could take a dumb penalty due to nerves. I have to give game 7 to Boston tonight.

In that case, go Leafs go

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #5: The Final Stretch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>There's a widespread belief that the Leafs will look to trade Mitch Marner if they lose in the 1st round again. This would be one of the biggest trades of the cap era, so where do you guys think Marner will wind up?
I think New Jersey makes sense, they have a surplus of very elite defensive prospects that will be enticing to Toronto (Casey 👀), and also some good young players like Mercer. They also have the 10th overall pick which will likely be a defenseman, which is of no use to NJD. Wonder if that is in play.
Nashville also makes sense to me, I could see something revolving around Tomasino + Askarov being a solid base.
Utah could also make a lot of sense, they have so many picks and prospects while also having a desire to compete.
It'll be an interesting offseason</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>Anybody have a guess on Chychrun’s trade value and next contract?
Revisiting his last trade, he went for a sub 16 draft pick (unknown at time and top 5 protected), a 2nd, and a 2nd 2 years later.
I’m finding him very comparable to Vince Dunn and his 4 year, 7.35AAV, and acquiring him gets you next season at his current aav of 4.6.
I wonder if Ottawa gets back “more” than they paid, primarily because Chychrun played all 82 games this past season, and the acquiring team would be extending at the time of trade. I think they can flip him for more.
I dunno if my blues would be involved but the left side of our d is going to change eventually, one way or the other.</div></div>
Since the cap is going up, he'll want 7M+ for an extension as you said, plus a 10 team no trade that kicked in last summer... he seems like he'll have less value this time.
In the end he's worth whatever a GM is willing to pay in a bidding war.

Not a fan of this trend of PBP guys who call the game like it's pro wrestling. What are we going to do when Chris Cuthbert retires?
And is it just me or are goalies getting hit in the melon on a constant basis this year?

A player that's willing to stand there and get punched in the face to draw a penalty is just as important as a player that's willing to physically stand up for their teammates. Seems like something you can teach, though...

yay game 1 overreactions lol. Obligatory 'you're only in trouble when you lose a game at home' reminder.
Brace yourselves for the Marner proposals (spoiler: an extension with LA is the only team that makes sense, after they buy out PLD. Unless Blake gets fired).

They basically got a **** tonne of depth at forward and blue line and u can just have a field day creating lines
Gonna be a very interesting matchup with DAL who matches them well forward depth wise especially at C.</div></div>
Deboer cost them the series last year by playing Suter, Miller & Benn so much. He's a great Xs and Os coach, but damn is he stubborn.
Here's to more stubbornness.
Hertl's got great hands in tight so that should help against Robertson Hintz Pavelski who are some of the best clutch scorers around the blue paint.

I think OP was wondering if there would be a dispersal draft. Any Coyotes player that sees a new owner giving the GM the green light to spend will buy in 100%.
