Jeez, however could an 8 year-old figure out this site ... but I'm glad to know he thinks flexing on a 13 year-old would be fine, you know, because of TOS.

That's a valid point. I would hope no one is out here trying to flex on a kid.

1. Saros has been better for longer
2. Toronto is acquiring Saros in this thread. Can't imagine them wanting to lose him for nothing to Seattle if they just traded for him.
But could protect Campbell too. My point was if this trade was made, it's messing with the expansion plans too much. It's just not worth it and needs to be considered in deadline deals this season.</div></div>

Everyone has their own things. There's millions of forums on the internet with plenty of people posting regularly.
I really don't see the issue in someone pointing out to this poster that this proposed trade doesn't make much sense when the future is considered.
Doesn't take an expert to see that.</div></div>
Maybe.
Of course, what some adults might think is apparent stupidity isn't quite so apparent to, say, an 8 year-old just trying to screw around.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TrueCanuck</b></div><div>That's not a smart way to operate and that's not how GM's are doing things. You make a deal like this and it's counter productive.
Protect 7-3-1:
Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Forsberg, Hyman, Kerfoot, Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Saros ... then you lose either Ekholm or Campbell
Protect 8-1:
Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Ekholm, Saros ... then you lose either Forsberg (likely) or Campbell
& don't come back with "make a side deal with Seattle" .. the price for either of those situations starts with a 1st and a top prospect. & You've traded away both 1st round picks in the next 2 drafts and 2 top prospects. It'd likely start with Robertson and Liljegen plus a pick. So you can essentially add those 2 players to this trade do.
This idea is weak. No thought behind it. You have to keep the future in mind as well.</div></div>
Why are we protecting FA Rielly? <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TrueCanuck</b></div><div>That's not a smart way to operate and that's not how GM's are doing things. You make a deal like this and it's counter productive.

Can't believe a top-notch mind like yours isn't in the NHL. Maybe take a screenshot of that brilliant analysis and send it to teams.

Nowhere do I indicate an LTIR placement automatically results in a gain in cap space.
The quote leaves open the possibilities that the gains in cap space take time to accumulate or that certain criteria must be met for the gains in cap space to be realized.
I know what you are trying to do but it's not working.
Try a little harder next time ;)</div></div>

Here you go, sparky.
"Leafs will only gain cap space from this trade if Riley Nash is placed on LTIR.
A quick glance at https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/mapleleafs shows it hasn't happened yet.
Until that happens, no cap space is gained."

You don't automatically get cap space because a player is on LTIR, so I have to question your understanding of the CBA then.

Hilarious reading all the other Leaf fans acting like Dubas is some genius and was the first to discover this, and all the other fans whining that the Leafs are the only team to "circumvent the cap".
There have been many other variations of this trade, including earlier this year when Tampa traded for Gaborik and Nilsson.

Really? You think Joe Thornton is deserving of minutes on a contending team? He should be rotating in and out at the very least. Barabanov played very again tonight. And how about Dermott's horrendous D-zone coverage on Perry's first goal? You can't imagine an upgrade there either? Gotta love the fan bois that think there's zero room for improvement here ... :smirk

They could definitely lose out and still be a better team, and a more attractive place for FAs to sign, than Buffalo. Especially for the hometown players.

Don't you know we have the best defensive unit in the NHL? There's no one we could bring in to upgrade the starting six. Besides, that's just, so, like, disrespectful.
