<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>100% agree. Samsonov and Minten need to go back for Helly, but Minten wasn't in the proposal here. Here's my thinking... Helly for Samsonov, Minten and the BOS 1st round pick. Minten is more valuable to the Jets than TImmins and Voit. Samsonov buys the Jets a little time, but they will need a similar goalie to him, because I 100% believe Sammy is a 1B or 2A, not a 1A.</div></div>
I think he proved with the Leafs this year he can be a 1A. Also did so while pretty clearly being hurt through the end of the season and playoffs. I could see his numbers falling off a bit in Winnipeg though, the Leafs defence and high end chance prevention definetly buoyed his numbers early on. But that deal of Sammy, Minten, 1st is realistic.

Yea 100%, thats the only way I see him coming back to Toronto however. The hope would be after next season the cap consistently climbs and it doesn't become much of a problem in the ladder years. At minimum you're getting a steal of a contract for the first 2-4 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>Then why do SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many of the Leafs fans keep proposing him in trades for almost anything and anyone, especially Helly. It's obvious to even Leafs fans that Samsonov is no where near Helly's caliber. Arguing that would be silly / wrong.</div></div>
Well in a trade where they are acquiring a goalie it makes sense to send a goalie back the other way. Especially when it sounds like winnipeg doesn't plan on rebuilding. I also don't believe this deal gets them Hellebuyck and it would likely take another top prospect like Minten, but Sammy will be apart of any trade the Leafs would make for a goalie because it makes logical sense.

Samsonov is a backup, Timmins is a 3rd pairing, Voit is unknown, the BOS pick is okay and Murray is a waste. This is far from enough.
Any trades from TOR for Helly must include all of the following and more than Minten, Samsonov and Niemela.</div></div>
Saying Sammy is a backup is just wrong, proved this year he is a strong starter who can handle a decent workload.

MTL is the last place i'd want to see him. The deal makes sense for both sides, only problem could be if Dubois is dead set on MTL when he becomes a UFA and won't sign an extension with TML then theres a problem.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>A tiny winger that likely won't ever be a full time NHL regular, a small offensive defenseman and an okay B prospect isn't a lot and aren't what Winnipeg would target in a return.</div></div>
Minten is more on the end of an A-/A prospect, looks like a strong 2 way center with a strong shot, he projects as being a second line center in the NHL. Niemela is an elite puck mover rates as a B/B+ prospect. Robertson is definitly a project with an injury history but the talent is there. I don't think theres a world where Winnipeg doesn't jump at this deal, not to mention a first round pick on top. Again we're talking about a guy who doesn't want to be there anymore.

Honestly Niemela and Minten was a lot, Minten is a huge add for any team. Would definetly be a tough guy for the leafs to move on from

Just based on how valuable hes been to them over what was a bad season for most of the team and how young he is, probably not looking to trade him unless their getting back a first rounder in this draft

I think its just people who don't watch any flyers game don't see how incredibly impactful he is, his stats show him being a solid middle 6 forward, just under0.5 point per game. I can see why people might think he doesn't have a lot of value.

As an outside perspective this looks pretty fair, seems both sides benefit in most deals, I can see Nashville having some contention to giving up this years first because of how loaded the draft is, and I think the Flyers are pretty high on cates and likely aren't interested in moving him for Garland.

You couldn't be more wrong, those guys are fairly high end prospects who carry value, very far from being "throw ins"

U add Saros in net. This team would be unreal.</div></div>
Its a good team thats stronger on the back end and in net, but it doesn't change the fact that theres no depth scoring just like in previous years, looking at past cup champs including the teams in the final, thats what gets it done, scoring through min 3 lines.

Honestly this team would not have much success, it greatly lacks depth scoring, you have essentially put together two 4th lines that are heavy forechecking.

It's pretty bold to assume that Fantilli is going to be able to jump right into a 1c role on a cup contending team. That has never really happened before, shouldn't assume it would work now.

He’s a good offensive defenseman, but SUCKS in his own zone. I’d prefer if we used him to make a move this offseason. And I think getting rid of carter and replacing him with basically a new McGinn, and getting a fast youngish winger who I think would be good on Malkin’s wing, would be a solid deal</div></div>
You make a good point, I just wouldn't be giving EDM any help on moving yamamoto, I think this deal could get done with out giving up PO, probably a 3rd and maybe carter with slight retention, I think that would be important for EDM considering the crunch they are facing this off season.

Why would Pitt give up one of their best young dmen in PO to get back two bottom 6 players. Especially Yamamoto who EDM will likely buyout or need to dump him somewhere. The value is just way off for Pitt.
