Add Goonie McGoonGoon to the Jets trade and you've got a deal.

I could see CHI having interest in Palmieri only if NYI are giving a huge discount or paying in order to move his cap hit. They aren't paying a 2nd for him.

McGoonGoon is a sneaky good pick up. He's really underrated.

Unlikely the Hawks give up a 2nd for Palmieri. Not to say he isn’t worth one, just doesn’t fall in line with the game plan.

Or the Hawks just keep all 3 of their 2nd round picks and sign a free agent instead. Hawks would not spend a 2nd for one year of Palmieri.

He will most likely get 1st + 3rd and a prospect/roster player
Lee is still good, not great but good and at 50% retained, I could even see us getting 1st or most likely a 2nd + but he will have takers at 3.5
Arizona obviously says no
This is going to be the most interesting offseason in a while, I personally think we should either do a quick rebuild and trade Nelson, Palms, Pelech, Pulock and Lee or just ride it out one more season and rebuild through free agency</div></div>
At half retention, I agree.
At $7M x 2, he's not pulling you **** as an aging guy who ain't gonna crack 40 points in all likelihood.

Palms isn't a negative asset in the sense of him costing a pick to dump. He might only get FC but I honestly think we can get a 3rd or 4th for him. Also Mike Riley doesn't get that much

post draft retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>CHI declines. CHI will deal with teams that actually want to pay for their cap dumps, they aren't a dumping ground. General rule of thumb for Kyle Davidson should be to take on contracts that actually bring quality assets into the rebuild. We don't need anymore mid to late round picks. The only way I could see him doing this is if he is confident he can flip him at the deadline for a 2nd or better, but another rule of thumb for KD is that he should not be making trades based on POSSIBLE future transactions. If it's a cap dump you pay for it, if you don't want to pay for it, find another team or keep the contract. I don't care how many goals Palmieri has this year, he will be 34 next year, is very expensive, won't put up those kinds of points on a bottom team, and likely won't garner any interest at the deadline. He has been in decline for years, one year isn't going to change that trajectory, only he can change that trajectory and I wouldn't bet on that happening. So, again, pay for him like a cap dump or find someone else. We aren't handing other teams $5M in cap space for what essentially amounts to nothing.</div></div>
Jason Zucker was worth a 6th at the deadline. He had 9 goals when he was traded, and has only had one good season in the last four years. If he's not a negative asset then neither is Palmieri. Chicago doesn't make sense as a destination, but Palms is not a straight cap dump.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Wahlstrom isn't worth enough to take Palmieri's contract.</div></div>
That <em>is</em> a terrible trade, but for the opposite reason. Palmieri is a 20-goal scorer on a reasonable contract with no term beyond next season - basically a one-year middle-six rental. The Isles aren't going to get a massive package back for him or anything, but there's no way they'd have to pay to get someone to take him.

Ottawa accepts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Yeah Ottawa won't be taking that deal. The best piece would be a solid 1st rounder, and that would have to be unprotected. Bolduc, & Wahlstrom are older prospects that don't look like much. Ottawa has no need for JGP... Even with salary retained. Ottawa for sure passes on this deal. Sucks for the Isles because they don't really have a lot to deal.... But need pure talent, but have a strong enough team to not be where you pick the elite talent in the draft.</div></div>
1 + 2 + 3 is a very solid base.
Pageau at 2.5 AAV x 2 years is also good, brings experience and solid defensive play. Nice insurance policy to cover for Norris injury situation too.
Bolduc is 6'4 and only 23 y/o, never have enough D-men with size.
Wahlstrom is cheap and only 23 y/o, don't think he has much value left but would still be a better player than Kubalik was this season, for example. But with ZERO risks and cost.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Ottawa was there for years until we went into complete rebuild.</div></div>
There would be a lot to say about this but quickly, but Ottawa was relatively successful during that transition phase after being serious contenders for a decade (98-08). After the semi-rebuild on the fly in 2009, they made the playoffs 5 out of 8 seasons and won 3 rounds, almost made the SCF in 2017, which is much more than the Leafs did in 20 years, for example.
I say this because the way you word it is "thankfully we were finally able to fully rebuild"... but that doesn't account that we had terrible ownership and just as bad management. We did a lot more during "these years" than during the current rebuild. We don't even sniff the playoffs with Dorion's rebuild.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>athrin</b></div><div>JGP is a non-starter for OTT, they could spend that 2.5M on a younger and way better p[layer, the prospects are meaningless and do nothing for OTT. this is a deal OTT declines quite easy</div></div>
Disagree.

Idk why Sens fans have this preconception that Pageau is garbage. He’s still a good player and at 2.5 mil retained he’s easily worth a 2nd if not more.

I take this deal. Let’s say the pick is somewhere in the 15-20 range, I’d look to maybe dangle that out to Boston, Calgary and Nashville for one of Ullmark (likely won’t waive but might as well try), Markstrom or Saros. Then some extra picks and some players. JG half retained is really valuable as well! Honestly it may be too much but I won’t complain about that lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>Honestly, if we did this trade we could trade Norris somewhere for a RHD then have this center depth:
Stutzle
Pinto
Pageau
Kastelic/UFA

I doubt Norris will get much value right now because of his injury history and length of his contract.
