Either way it would be entertaining. Either NJD destroyed their cap for a goalie that isn't worth it. Or NYR let their Vezina winning goalie cross into jersey and makes NYR's life hell for years.
I'm here for absolute chaos and I love this situation either way.

Canucks aren't trading Cole. Even if they got Tanev they wouldn't be trading Cole away.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Lmao. He hasn’t been good all year. If he can get 10 then I want him gone. He’s the equivalent to samsonov or any other replacement level goalie. If a team thinks he’s worth 10M I’m for sure moving him for that package of picks/prospects! Who do you think will pay him 10m???</div></div>
Guarantee someone pays him between 9 and 11 mil on the open market. It doesn't matter if he is just average this season and next. He has a career .930 in the playoffs, a Vezina trophy, and was top 3 in hart voting. He's built a strong enough pedigree already.
I don't know who will pay him because it is a year and a half out still but someone will.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>So I don’t think I’d move Kakko or shesty. Both aren’t doing what we expected but that just means no big raises. Right now shesty is earning himself a massive pay cut deal. Kakko will be on a long bridge that again isn’t big. Great for the cap.
I’d definitely more Lindy for picks, I’d be willing to move kreider as he would return some nice pieces. Trouba should stay because Schneider is 3-4 years away from a top 4 spot</div></div>
You are sorely mistaken if you think shesterkin isn't going to get paid. With the desperation for good goalies around the league someone will give him 9+ mil in free agency. Potentially in the 10+ range.

They seems like a reasonable deal. I think Brannstrom and Fabbro are pretty comparable but Ottawa is trading for positional need.

I can't see the Canucks adding a prospect like Raty. You might be able to get a 2nd + a guy like Karlsson or Sasson.
I do think someone else will offer up a 1st for him though.

MTL fans would you be interested in Kuzmenko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs420</b></div><div>ya I mean we would be fine with parting with Kovy, something has to give from a salary perspective. I know it would be kind of weird cause he was traded at the start of the year but pearson kind of makes sense in addition. Or we are able to fix our cap elsewhere before that trade (or a 3-team trade).</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>In this scenario, depends on the cap space, but I doubt they'd be super interested.
Montreal was in the 2021 Cup Finals, that some point isn't next season.</div></div>
I ran the trade (Kuzmenko for Kovacevic) on the trade machine simulator and there are no cap issues for MTL.
My idea is Kuzmenko is a talented player that could have real upside in Montreal either as a longer term fit or by playing well enough to be flipped next year at the deadline for a decent return.
I appreciate the insight here though. Sounds like consensus is they might take him but don't expect a big return and there is certainly the possibility that they just aren't interested in adding to the cap for next year in this manner.

I wouldn't be looking to take any salary back as Vancouver. Basically a move to clear the salary and for MTL to take a flier on Kuz to see if he can get back closer to the player he was last year.

He has another year left on his contract. So not a UFA until after next season.

I know Dhaliwal mentioned Xhekaj but I would much rather us go after Kovacevic. If we decide to move Kuzmenko to facilitate a bigger acquisition I wonder if MTL would be interested in Kuzmenko.

Nahh teams only want to trade for players that are worse than all of their current players.
