Canucks won't need the cap space. Soucy will be on LTIR, the Canucks can waive Friedman and get enough cap space where they could acquire Tanev w/retention. The Canucks aren't moving out Cole to make space for Tanev.

Why not? They've done it many times before. Or did you mean they'll waste even more assets on dmen who used to be decent years ago, guys like Brodie and Klingberg?

Canucks aren't trading Cole. Even if they got Tanev they wouldn't be trading Cole away.

Canucks won’t deal Cole. If they acquire Tanev it’s because Soucy is LTIR for a good while, which clears the space they need. If Soucy isn’t LTIR then the Canucks don’t have the cap space, but they also have enough d-men and don’t have space for Tanev.
