OK, I agree, he is not a long term solution, how about a 2 year solution? That is the length of his contract. IMO, Botterill is a very astute GM, I do not see him just cutting Bogosian lose, on the other hand if he did, it would really show what a sad excuse DATM was as GM, a 2nd and 4th for Kane and Bogosian. He gave up a boat load for those 2 and that is all we have when we trade them away. The local sport writers had such bromance with DATM that none of them will write that he is the real reason the Sabres are last over all. DATM brought in losers and unfortunately I think it has contaminated the rest of the team.

JVR is about 1 million under paid....I have no idea what Stastny will get. His stats show that $5m is fair...but the weak C market may inflate that significantly.
Bogo is an interesting case for me. He seems to be everything you want in a D-man...just can't stay healthy....might be able to find a taker without giving him away as a cap dump. Certainly worth a 5th rounder straight up for a team with cap space</div></div>
See, you as a Leaf's fan know more than most Sabre CF GM's. Your analysis of Bogosian is what I would have expected. Your analysis of this post mirrors mine.

I think the Arizona trade is off just because I don’t see them giving up that pick when their such a young team.
I could see someone like MTL who drops into the top 5 giving up that pick to get ROR.
But this is a much improved team with a lot of young pieces that would exciting to watch

OK, here is my opinion on all trades here. You made a huge change in the Sabres, some I think are great others I would not make. That is your vision, not mine, your vision may be better than mine. I looked at your final product and I think it is good and that is all that mattered, we all take different roads to get to the same destination. IMO WAS and ARI would want more, but maybe they would accept it.

Any post that trades O'Reilly gets five stars from me. I like your rebuild, I have a different plan but this is a good one as well. :applaud

Ok, thanks for the reply.
The two teams are built pretty similar so see why it's not an attractive trade partner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mittelstudt37</b></div><div>There’s one thing though that no one realizes.... the guy leads the league in draws and would be an immediate boost to your center core and draw winning %60.5 on draws and 60 points and can play all three forward spots is well worth that 7.5 million, and probably save money then from when you have to resign nylander who will more than likely want north of 8 mil</div></div>
I think the question has been answered. There’s no deal to be had. Thinking ROR will get you marner or nylander is way too far of a gap in perceived value.
Clearly no one actually read my description.
I do recognize how valuable ROR is in the draw. Bozak is the leafs’ best faceoff man and we are likely losing him. So I targeted ROR.....who....btw....between him and Johnson painted a dim picture of what’s going on in that locker room. I’ve never heard guys speak out like that. ROR is good...but leafs probably wouldn’t give you marner for eichel at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigBeardBurns</b></div><div>I dont know why u trade Toronto’s good prospect G for a washed-up prospect D. Also, y do they want injury hazard Myers? Dont resign JvR (and especially dont resign him to that much). Nylander will want 8 year extension worth 6-6.5, but he’d want more money for shorter term. (And I’m sure he’d rather go long term, anyway.)</div></div>
In my description I mentioned that Sparks is unlikely to make it thru waivers again. So trade him for something you can stash with the marlies and might have some upside.
I feel the opposite is true for Nylander. Less money on a shorter term or more on a longer.

Ellis will probably have more value since he is a very cheap top 4 defenseman. Poile I think said that he was not interested in moving his top 4 at all too.
