I agree which is why it probably wouldn't happen lol. I think the package is fair though, Nashville plays best when they have a balanced 3 pairings on defense having ferraro would an enormous upgrade on guys like Irwin, weber, and tinordi lol. Labanc, Letunov, and a first is also a fair and fits in their cap structure which would also allow them to add guys like dadanov and toffoli if they pursue those avenues. Again won't happen because he's important to their locker room culture and community as well as being a wildly talented player. I would just love to have him on this team from a stylistic standpoint it translates well for this team.

If you're the sharks and you can do something like this you take it. Forsberg would be a great fit in terms of style of play and skill set. A right shot who I'm sure would produce much more with guys like Meier, Hertl, and Couture. I think the preds would probably be looking at a major shakeup depending on how this playoff format goes for them. I think this package is fair, addressed a lot of needs for the preds but at the same time Forsberg is valuable as both a leader and major figure in their locker room culture and community, so if they had to move anyone it'd be someone else in my mind. Won't happen by all accounts but Nashville fans what would be an adequate return for him in your opinion?

Toffoli STL EDM
I think the sharks should focus mainly on the forward group. trying to sign Toffoli for 5.5-6 mil and trading for someone like Marcus Johansson are realistic options which would help them balance the top 6 and add players who can create chances of the rush. I'd move Labanc for prospects or picks and add two depth players like Fast and Johan Larrson who can play good middle-six roles.
As for goaltending, I think giving jones another shot is worth it. No one is trading for his contract and he seems to be using the time off to recover and rest while working with Nabakov and Adam Francilia which should hopefully reflect in some type of improvement next year. In all focusing on making one major UFA add, a reasonable trade, and keeping it simple is probably the best route for this team. They're not as bad as they showed this year just seemed like injuries and fatigue over the last 4 years caught up

Labanc traded to COL
Rather than move Labanc, I think they can take a run at signing him. His underlying numbers actually suggest an improvement but his counting stats were bad primarily because the whole line-up sucked. As it comes to adding a right-handed winger at a good cap-hit, it wouldn't be wise to trade Labanc especially if they can sign him between 3-4 mil.

Adding at on the Right Side My Take
They don't have many options, factoring in their cap situation if a CBO isn't granted, they have roughly 3.5-4 mil to sign an RW. At that price, they can't any of the better players available and would end up overpaying a bottom-six/middle six player. In terms of possible trade targets, Sundqvist, Jarnkrok, Garland are the type of players that the sharks should target however the motive for St.Louis, Nashville, and Arizona just wouldn't be there as they would most likely;y favor moving more expensive contracts and retaining these guys. Anderson is expendable for Columbus and a player who'll probably sign a cheap deal plus has a lot of time rn to get healthy. Playing against the secondary competition on a line with Hertl and Meier would be a really springboard for him to rediscover his form plus Columbus adds an asset and a cheap forward they can keep of flip to replenish their system. If a CBO is granted or they can find a way to move a contract they may be able to open up some cap I can see them adding a better option but goaltending comes first and solidifying that position is where I wanted to spend a majority of the funds. I think Anderson and Fast while not inspiring signing definitely offer more than the revolving door of players the sharks played at rw this year on the second line. Who would you target in the 3.5-4 range without sacrificing too much from the upcoming draft?

Who is this guy we signed out of KHL
He's a young Russian goaltending prospect, a bit undersized but athletic. He'll need a year in the AHL by the looks of it but considering the lack of depth in the sharks goaltending depth chart he should secure some solid playtime in the AHL while working with Nabakov. Should he adapt to the North American game he could have 1B potential maybe even full-time starter potential, depends on his development over the next year though. Great signing for the sharks' low-risk high-reward gamble

I don't think I've seen much on that front in regard to any team being linked to him. However, we managed to land his teammate Pasichnuk, so hopefully, they can do the same with him lol. Plus he has a shot to crack an NHL line up while still being close to his home state. I think it makes a lot of sense for him to come here if he doesn't sign in Arizona.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JumboJoe</b></div><div>Not sure if I want Granlund in the top 6, too risky. Also Labanc on the top line isn't ideal.
Not actually sure where Soucy played in Minnesota, but I doubt it was the top pair and I think he should play bottom pairing minutes. If you wanted to, you could move Simek to the top pair, not sign Soucy, and not sign Granlund. Then you could sign someone like Toffoili and have Middleton play bottom pairing minutes.
Lehner gets a lot more, I would say around 1.5 million more.
Also, love the idea of the 3rd line even though it's highly unlikely that we sign Walker and they both make it. 2 college boys centered by a talented veteran.</div></div>
I think Granlund is due for a bounce back. His regression means the sharks can probably snag him for cheaper. In addition, his playmaking ability would fit really nicely next to two high volume shooters like Kane and Hertl. Moreover, his utility as a center also means the sharks can potentially move him around the top-9 in different roles. At that cap hit, I think it's worth it, especially because I think his style of play meshes well with the sharks players as compared to his Nashville linemates. Soucy played well, I think at his size and play he'd be a good fit next to Karlsson, from what I've seen of him, he provides good utility on the left side, good to play 15-18 minutes a night. If anything, for this build I'd consider signing heed back on a cheap deal and using the money I used on Demelo to bring in Jesper Fast for around 2.5-2.8 mil.

If the Sharks sign Granlund he'll be a top 6 winger and not a 3C, it's been established on here that he's not a center and the Sharks need a top 6 winger anyway which would make a pretty good top 6 but wow does that bottom 6 look brutal, to be fair I'm not overly familiar with those players histories so maybe there's some potential but there's not too many recognizable names.
If there is a compliance buyout should the Sharks use it on Vlasic and sign Lehner??</div></div>
I put Granlund at 3C because I think the Sharks need 3 scoring lines to compete. He's without a doubt top 6 caliber player, however, I think the sharks would be wise to evenly distribute time their forwards play by creating a balanced top 9 with the 4th line being PK'ers and utility forwards that can slide up and down the lineup. That's just my opinion though, I could be terribly wrong too LOL.

Yeah, I really liked how he was able to transition his game from the playmaking center to a goal-scoring winger. Where do you think he'd slot in this lineup? I thought 3rd line leftwing which I think would have a lot of competition though. Dahlen, Leonard, and maybe even Gregor. I think

Potential Moves
I think there are some valid points here as it pertains to our goaltending situation. All signs point to Jones getting another shot sadly. I think because of the term on his contract and the perception that the heavy workload in his years as a starter for the sharks burned him out. Personally speaking, I think the team has a decent pipeline of puck-moving defenders coming up but aging defencemen on long contracts on the main roster which won't allow them to break into the lineup. Therefore if there is any way to reconstruct the blueline around Karlsson and find a way to move burns along with COB'ing Vlasic that would allow them to integrate their prospects like Merkely, Knaizev, and even Pasichnuk if he develops into something. Having a more mobile blueline overall, and trying to rebuild the blue line around the goalie might be a better model akin to what the Islanders and Stars have done. This is one of my more "crazy" ideas but I feel like freeing up that cap is the best way to get more help at forward while at the same time attempting to get mileage out of that Jones contract and simultaneously getting younger and faster at the defense position. Of course, I also think free agents should be consistently evaluated, I am by no means saying that we should rely solely on our prospect pool because it's definitely not the best LOL.

You can't just move those contracts it'll be really difficult and more close to impossible. Better to make a run next year and at least try to be a fringe playoff team as a way to shave years of those contracts if we can't move them. If they suck in spite of that they'll be able to draft well regardless.

I think packaging Goodrow with Melker and retaining half on Melker can net them a solid return. Trading one of the best PK duos in the league can get them some decent assets from a team like Florida or Toronto who've been completely shambolic on the PK. That's the only angle I think they can create a decent trade window for those guys.

Sharks 2019-2020 v5
For the Jets, I feel this trade makes sense because they get cap relief, their RHD for the future alongside a 2nd rounder and Sorenson who scored 17 goals last year as well. Though the Jets lose a very good player the 2nd rounder and Merkley definitely gives them flexibility as they can easily resign their top RFA's while adding useful pieces they can develop or flip to address other organizational needs. From the sharks perspective, they part with some of their valuable assets but in return receive a cost control top-line winger who will instantly fill a position of need while being on an excellent contract. Additionally, for the sharks, this gives them a young core of Hertl, Meier, and Ehlers upfront which is very good too build around as the old guard ages out. Though they lose their best prospect, this gives the sharks the best chance to compete for a cup over the next two seasons before they'll have to blow it up and go through a rebuild/retool.

Trading Dilly is more about shedding salary to make room for the RFA’s.
Saku is a good player and would likely do well with Jumbo (almost anyone would) but I’d rather keep Sorensen for the existing chemistry and I love his feisty style of play. I think Marcus will put up 20 this year.</div></div>
Dillion is a good defender and someone who is very reliable and has the ability to play with high-end players as he demonstrated this year with his play next to Karlsson. I think the Rangers do this deal because they get a guy they can pair with Trouba and create a roster spot for one of their young players. I agree with your Sorenson take but I feel the sharks can trade him if they need Cap room in a pinch.

I was thinking about Nemeth over Benn and Elliot seems to perform well in a backup role. What do you think Sorenson would fetch realistically? The way I see it the sharks have 3 lines with excellent duos. Couture-Meier, Hertl-Kane, and Thornton-Labanc. I wanted to add hard working wingers to each line to help their talent blossom. I really think Tanev can be an excellent player in an expanded role and Fast is a good winger who doesn't need a lot of touches like Donskoi to be effective. Maenalanen has been a good player in regards to playing along the boards and holding possession with decent speed and agility, he's a cheap winger who has a good chance to flourish with Jumbo and Labanc.

I think that the sharks can move dell to MTL as they'll probably be looking for a backup. The pens are looking for cheap and fast wingers who they play up and down the lineup, Sorenson fits and he scored 17 this year which also helps. The Sens are looking for players to fill out their roster who they can plug and play for a year without having to rush their young players in so Melker makes sense there. Guessing that Pit moves on from Jhonson they can use Ryan as a cheap LD so I think that move makes sense for them. As for Acciari I think you're right but that's a depth move more than anything. If they don't get him they can pursue a 4th liner like Fehr. In regards to picks I think reasonably the sharks would only get one 3rd for Sorenson and overall I think these scenarios are fairly reasonable for the teams involved but that is just my opinion

Personally, I think we're better off elevating DeSimone and acquiring a blueliner like Nemeth who can defend the cycle well. Bringing Heed back provides them another cheap righty who can move the puck and has a cannon of a shot. Simek is an awesome defender and brings a good physical element to the blueline as he returns from injury. I think that this blueline coupled with bringing more firepower up front will ultimately be better than having a guy like Karlsson who has been compromised from a health perspective too often. As for Dillon, we could keep him but I'd rather we flip him for picks because his role on the team doesn't justify the price and he's cost us with his lack of mobility. He'd be good on a blueline that needs more physicality but it can really be any team for picks in this case. I chose Vancouver because he's from there and it would seem like a move Benning would make. At the end of the day, it's just my opinion and probably not likely to happen but that's arm-chair for ya!
