Not only would the NYR say no which has been made clear. Kakko says no to that offer.

I actually think they can get a 2nd and a 4th or a prospect that may be expendable but has potential. But I’m with you, I think in 3-4 years we will be seeing him differently.

Brannstrom could be interesting but they don’t need give up assets or overpay a bottom pair defenseman when Jones has been fine</div></div>
Ya I view him as a potential replacement for Lindy. And turcotte would be a sell low scenario which they probably wouldn’t want to do but in the off chance they would.

In year 3 we no longer have Bread or Trouba on contract so that’s 20M plus the cap will steadily be going up 4m+ so I’m not really concerned with a year of 3M dead cap

Cost and availability
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Pierre-Luc DuBois is unavailable for reasons of state and the top 6 is untouchable, but the rest of the forwards including Turcotte should be on the table. That being said, in addition to all the points accurately made by my esteemed friend PuckLuck_77, Turcotte is the forward most likely to turn DuBois back into an actual NHL centerman again, either by playing with him directly or else moving up to LW on Anze Kopitar's line to free up Quinton Byfield or Adrian Kempe to play with PLD. Plus, his cap hit will remain low even though he's coming off his ELC and Los Angeles certainly needs the cap space.
The ideal trade would be Turcotte and our 2024 first for Gabe Perreault, but I don't see you getting gulled into that. We don't need defense prospects (on either side) and your goalie pool doesn't impress. I don't really see a fit here because we need a specific type of young player, not a draft pick or two.</div></div>
Ya I think Gabe is off limits being a positional need

I don’t really support either team moving on yet but if they are willing to I would love for NYR to take the chance on either

Retention doesn’t make or break the trade, but in my opinion a first is absolutely a fair ask to eat 3 years of that contract.</div></div>
That’s fun and all but they will buy him out before paying that cost. Either a team wants him and he’s willing to go or it’s a buyout.. not a dump

SJ will definitely need to overpay Marner and Shesterkin *IF* they even become free agents. Marner will get 12.5 in Toronto and Shesty will take 9 and maybe less to remain with a long term contender team.

Remove the 5th and 7th and add Cowan and it’s a reasonable offer

Marner for Crosby who says no who has to add
I like this idea. TOR needs a cup now and PIT needs to rebuild now. Timelines work. How do you bring Crosby in and not automatically give him the C over JT and AM and MR. Due to cap hit and position and winning pedigree in SC, I think it makes up for the youth in MM. But this leaves PIT with little options at centre. Maybe if they draft celebrini 🤷🏻♂️

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>For every Nuke and Tage (who wasn't even a top-10 pick) there are countless others that either become role-players or never really make it in the NHL. Turcotte hasn't done anything in the NHL so, yeah, what of it? I get it, you like your guy and hope he turns out to be a good player but he may end up being a bust by your own definition. Take it personally if you want but it doesn't change that so, far, Kakko hasn't accomplished much as an NHL player.</div></div>
Sure, there’s a possibility he regresses to nothing. very doubtful but possible. There’s a long list of players drafted high that take time to develop. Necas is another. I’m not about to make a long list for you, hell, MacK took half of his career to break out. But as we can agree it’s not an absolute guarantee. Just very very likely
