Fantilli or michkov is pretty good too. And honestly, they’re good enough that we could probably trade up if we had a top 3 pick. There’s not much I wouldn’t give up

The Kawhi Move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nrs82</b></div><div>Kane is significantly better than Nylander, and also brings a boatload of playoff experience -- for however much that counts. Using Kane on Matthews wing allows them to free up Marner to (hopefully) squeeze a bit more out of Tavares who appears to be on the decline.
Most importantly, this roster also provides you with a third line that can score, along with a bit of offensive pop on the 4th line.</div></div>
Kane is not significantly better than nylander. Maybe slightly better offensively, but that’s even debatable. Plus he’s a liability defensively, nylander isn’t, despite what some older leafs fans might think. Nylander is a better shooter and had more goals. Kane isn’t what he used to be. Both of them had a 2.2 WAR according to evolving wild, with Kane’s GAR only .02 higher than nylander’s. Lateral move for the leafs, and doesn’t really make sense for the hawks. Going after debrincat makes more sense, still unrealistic though

The most crucial part of a tank is having bad goalies, so it doesn't look that realistic for us lmao. Martin might be too good. The marchement signing was for the future, underrated player still, and I think that contract could be a steal. I want them to be somewhat competitive for the 23/24 season. I like Schenn too much to trade him, plus He's a decent partner for Hughes if need be. If they can get something good for him the definitely do it. The only reason I didn't trade Pearson and Myers is cuz I didn't think anyone would actually want them, and I didn't wanna give up an asset to get rid of them. It's not like they're that good anyway, still gotta ice a team.

La wins that imo, I was just thinking of getting him off the team while the value is high strictly so we can lose games. They should probably ask for more since he's on a decent contract

He was probably the best backup in the NHL last year, on par with Hellebuyck on a Winnipeg team that is terrible defensively.</div></div>
I thought it was weird cuz Logan Thompson definitely deserves an nhl spot

Bc of the reasons I just said. Cizikas would be fine but apparently he wants like 5 mil, way too much for bottom 6.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CEO</b></div><div>Pearson still has some 2019/2020 Pearson in him. Last year his line was deployed terribly, mostly because the bottom 6 couldn't take tough minutes. Hence lack of production. But I think he will compliment Motte's game and Wennberg will too. Really how bad is a Pearson-Wennberg-Motte line for you?</div></div>
Ideally our bottom 6 is more defensive, or atleast can play a two way game to allow the top 6 to thrive offensively. Motte and Dickinson are the only ones who can, wennberg and Pearson are defensive liabilities. Benning also said he wanted to add grit, so I doubt wennberg will be his guy. If they want grit hopefully they get tough guys who can actually play, and play well.

The Return From Mediocrity
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tbristow</b></div><div>Outside of injuries, Tarasenko has still played at a relatively high level and before that he played at above an 85% WAR percentile (via @JFreshHockey on twitter). The Devils won't be giving up too much in this deal and can afford to take on his contract. We can't keep waiting around for young guys to develop. I think the best way to develop guys like Hughes and Smith are to finally start winning games.</div></div>
You’re right, he used to be good, although topdownhockey’s war model isn’t the best. There’s no reason for the devils to give up assets for him, chances are he won’t bounce back, and the devils still probably won’t make the playoffs. It’s better the have mother bad season and get another top prospect, hopefully wright

6th percentile in GAR, 44th percentile in WAR (on a steep downward trajectory) plus he’s horrendous defensively. Miller should be in the top 6, leaving Pearson at the 3lw position, he just isn’t cut out for that role. He’s never repeating that 19/20 career season, he was over performing, and even then want that great.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CalvinKlein</b></div><div>Rush the rebuild?? It's time for the Devils to ACTUALLY start improving the team instead of chasing after "loaded drafts". They're $11 million under the salary floor, they got to spend that money somewhere, so why not go after Hamiltion and take a chance on Tarasenko.</div></div>
Bc patience is the best way to build a team. Hamilton is fine cuz he’s good, but why go after Tarasenko? He’s a net negative player

Benning wanted grit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moneybanks</b></div><div>He actually played pretty well all year. I watched every game. He was playing in an awful defensive system. He's a versatile player who can play on the right or left side and can be matched up against top lines. Those players have immense value. The contract isn't a problem right now and any team in win-now mode that lost out on Jones, Suter or Hamilton is going to drool over him.</div></div>
Dude Schmidt sucks, he had one good season. His last season on Vegas wasn’t that great. Apparently teams are interested in him, so we’d be able to dump him without giving up assets, but I’m being optimistic thinking we can get Clifton for him. Just because you watched the games doesn’t mean you can see all the little details in his game, that’d be impossible. You’re watching the Canucks play, not just Schmidt. Look at his analytics.
