Must be since this roster is 23-24 season.

Edmonton declines without a 2nd thought. Ceci >> Graves, they can buyout Campbell without giving up a single asset.

While I like dumping Campbell and Ceci, Graves is of no use to us. He plays the left side which is already blocked up by Nurse, Ekholm and Kulak. We would need a top-4 RD coming back for this trade to work

It’s not for sure that he would sign a deal with y’all, and although he is good, he is severely overrated imo. Pickering could develop, and be with Pittsburgh for years to come, as Chychrun would probably just be on for 1 year, or so. For more to add, Chychrun, Karlsson would be an atrocious pairing!</div></div>
He is only an overrated prospect in the sense that we simply have an empty cupboard. If he was a prospect on a team with a deep prospect pool I’m sure he would receive considerably less attention.

Anderson for Nurse
Your fellow Montreal colleagues are constantly trading Jordan Harris to Los Angeles for a third or the equivalent, Dvorak will bring you a fourth if you're lucky, and although Edmonton MIGHT exchange Cody Ceci (who's played pretty well for them) for David Savard, Nurse, the first and Anderson have nothing to do with anything. Anderson is an expensive cap dump (I see that he's playing on the fourth line tonight) and Nurse is a top-pairing defenseman on a playoff team -- just because his cap hit is $9.25 million doesn't make him a dump.
I can't imagine that Kyle Dubas is entertaining any thoughts of trading Sidney Crosby unless Sid demands a trade.

Just know that Ottawa is the wrong team.
No matter how many times an Oilers AGM sends Ceci to Ottawa.

You aren't getting paid to take a top-4 RHD with a very reasonable AAV and just 1 year left! That'll cost you a 2nd at least.

This is correct Ceci is not a camp dump. They offered a first for a better player than ceci plus having to sweeten cuz they are our provincial rivals.

Canes weakness has been second line center for a while, why dont they put him at 2c?
Montreal wont trade their 1c and captain that is signed longterm.
trading Necas for the canes can make sense if the return is right, but suzuki is just not available.

The best way to move a guy to the middle is to put him in the bottom six and let him adjust slowly, just as Aho did. Carolina can't do that, they have Aho and 3 3C's. Why would you shoehorn a guy out of position to accommodate Necas when Necas is having success where he is? Especially because 2C wasn't an issue before this year. KK was great last year, and Trocheck was great before that.</div></div>
So basicly the reason he is not playing center is because he cant play center yet...

However, Jarvis is better defensively. So Caufield is superior offensively, Jarvis defensively and offensively this season. Overall, Jarvis is better but it’s a much closer comparison than Caufield and Necas.</div></div>
Jarvis is drastically better than Caufield. Necas is the closer comparable. Jarvis is better defensively, offensively, as a goal scorer, as a physical presence (this sounds so stupid for a dude that is 5'10, but he HAS to lead the league in hits against guys who are half a foot taller than he is) . It's not close, plus, your favorite defense, Jarvis is younger. He's on pace for around 70 points this year, which is better than anything Caufield has done.
To get Jarvis, you have to start with Suzuki. There's nothing else worth Jarvis on the Habs roster.

how to get out of cap hell
Hawks obviously decline. They aren't paying anything for JGP. And the idea that JGP at his full cap hit gets the same return as Nelson w/ retention is laughable. At his full cap hit, nobody is paying a 2nd for JGP.

Didn't see this before I wrote my other comment. This line of thinking isn't realistic at all from the Hawks perspective. They have PLENTY of experience in their room already. And after re-signing Dickinson, Foligno and Mrazak, the Hawks will have no problem signing two or three UFA's and hitting the cap floor. If you want some perspective on how a JGP to Chicago trade would look, see last summer's Bailey to Chicago deal.

Who has more value in a trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>This whole narrative of "plays a more important position" is so overblown on here.
Draisaitl is better offensively, that's it. Marner plays a complete 200ft game, is a much, much better defender, and is a key piece to both the PP and PK units in Toronto. & the whole "$2.5mil less is gonna be absolutely blown away when Draisaitl makes more than Marner in a year.
The correct answer is that they're about equal in value BUT Marner is more important to Toronto than Draisaitl is to Edmonton.</div></div>
It's not even close. Being better defensively is nice, but you know what matters more? Being better in the playoffs. Draisaitl has 21 more goals and 30 more points in 1 fewer playoff games. Leafs fans are the only ones who can't see what is obviously true lmao.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>Not even close imo. Draisaitl is miles better, and it’s not even funny. I like Marner, but it would cost considerably more if you want a guy like Draisaitl.</div></div>
I was gonna say the same thing.
Look I absolutely love Marner as a player and think he is severely overhated by fans but the difference between him and Drai in value is just so much bigger than the 24th-32nd overall pick.
Firstly Drai is a centre and Marner is a winger, Centres are just far more valuable within this league than wingers. Drai has also been a large part of Edmontons PK unit which is a hole Marner is not able to fit. Frankly the only thing Marner will be able to replace is Drai's regular season point production. To Marners credit in the playoffs he has been much better the last few years but Drai has shown to kick it to another level when needed which I just don't think Marner can do.
If the leafs did want Drai this is what the package would most likely look like
Nylander + Woll + Lilijegren + Mcmann + 24'1st + 26'1st

Leafs get their 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Obviously a huge hypothetical here, but I’d think both teams decline.
For the Oilers, this would leave them pretty thin at centre. IF they decide to move Draisaitl or had to, they’d have to get a centre back in the deal otherwise it sets them too far back.
For the Leafs, Draisaitl isn’t really the type of centre they’d be looking for. He’d make more than Marner on an extension (likely $13-$14M aav) and while it’s smarter to spend money on centres than wingers, Toronto needs more of a two way guy in the 2C spot - someone to help on the PP and PK and that’s not Draisaitl’s strong spot.
Marner is arguably more valuable to his team than Draisaitl is so I’d think Toronto would be more likely to get more in return and yet you have Toronto trading a 1st round pick as well as taking on Ceci’s cap dump for a year. Just doesn’t seem like a logical fit.</div></div>
Is this an April Fools joke? Toronto would go nuts having Matthews and Draisaitl down the middle for 5+ years.
Edmonton declines pretty easily.
