Might have to look beyond Franky at that point if that's really what it would take.

First Kovacevic Then Valimaki
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyG420</b></div><div>Since you claimed Kovacevic, you move down on the list of the waiver order. So there’s a chance someone else claims Valimaki. If no one else claims him and Montreal submits one, then you’d get him</div></div>
Not true, we get first dibs no matter how many claims we make until November 1st. See link below
https://montrealhockeynow.com/2022/09/25/how-the-canadiens-can-use-waivers-to-their-advantage-this-fall/
Edit*** Below is the key paragraph from the article
It’s also important to note that, if the Canadiens do, in fact, put in a claim on a player, they do not lose their priority to put a claim on another player moving forward. This is a rule that exists in fantasy sports leagues but is not decreed anywhere in the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement. The priority will be retained, despite making a previous claim, up until November 1.

Fair value for Bear. I don't think it will happen as Canucks will go with what they have now but the offer was proper.

Ethan bear and Horvat trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyG420</b></div><div>It's very interesting because I would personally like Olausson in Vancouver. The only question is the "fit" given our roster construction. Keep in mind, Trader Jim & Allvin haven't yet put their stamp on this roster via trade. They're being patient, my guess is due to them believing they could obtain a top 4 RD via trade - and maintain a semi-competitive window, rather than rebuild/retool (the owners would rather burn the arena down than allow another 2-8 years of mediocre hockey).
Horvat is the identity of our team. He bridges the past and the future together. He will most likely remain a Canuck. Aside from sentimental value, the guy can play defensive hockey & also show flashes of excellence in the offensive zone. Horvat would command a lot on the trade market if an extension were negotiated in advance to the move (which is the only way Vancouver would consider moving him)</div></div>
Canucks ownership doesn't want mediocrity? How about tanking? Not saying the Canucks need to do that, just speaking hypothetically

Before Game 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyG420</b></div><div>I think Hoglander's value is equal to Nils Lundqvist's. The Canucks were heavily linked with the Rangers for such a swap. But then Dallas came in at the last minute and offered more value (a 1st in a very high-value draft. Similar to 2003/2015)
If the Canucks were to move Hoglander, it would. be for a crazy high price, or a very solid young RD (under the age of 28 & signed to a +3 year deal; or, Under the age of 24 & team controlled RFA with a year or two at a lower cap hit)</div></div>
Hoglander's value is higher than Lundkvists. Hoglander's NHL experience thus far outweighs the positional difference between the two players

Before Game 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyG420</b></div><div>The Canucks don't need middle six wingers or centres. Our forward group is a tight fit as is. Hoglander is worth a lot, Pearson is not a cap dump (close to .5 PPG making sub 4M, net positive contract). The Canucks do not need Kerfoot. We need a young RD, someone like Lundqvist (minus the price paid for him).</div></div>
I've seen Hoglander for Sandin from both fanbases, I'm not proposing that but would you say Hoglander's value is higher than like, a first and a third?

What would Jim Benning do
Think the Rangers would make that deal if the pick is upgraded to 2nd round. lose a solid 2-way experienced player in Goodrow but gain a young C with potential. Rangers gain 2+ mill in cap space in this deal - will be vital for a blockbuster trade later on (such as Patrick Kane)
Rest of the deals look pretty solid as well.

Really? I wouldn't bother. We have Cholowski, Aho, and Salo fighting for the last two spots on D. Let's see what we have with those guys before trading for someone like Soucy.
