It's definitely close, I think Broberg has more potential but I could understand the arguement for Bouch. Also was debating over Maksimov vs. Savoie, I'm really looking forward to see how Savoie does in the NCAA this year.

My thoughts
Well done. Obviously not everyone will have the same mock, but you've made a case for most. I too am of the belief that if the Leafs don't trade their pick, they'll take the BPA. I agree at least one Top-5 talent will fall, just not sure it'll be Raymond given his hot start in the SHL.

I think if you called Ottawa, the 14th overall would let you dump Neal's two years. Detroit would take Russell for Puljujarvi, and maybe give you a 4th for the difference. This boils down to Carlson for Broberg.</div></div>
I'm certainly not saying this is the best approach, but it seems the most likely. Given the long playoff droughts and horrid moves, I'd love to see Holland push all his chips in, but it's not too likely. He's already said he probably won't trade the first unless it's to trade down. I also think he truly believes in Broberg to become a top 2 Defensemen. Just my 2cents.

He’s on a great contract lol you are delusional</div></div>
We may be biased as Oiler fans but there is a lot to like about both Bouchard and Carlson. There are also a few similarities, starting with elite vision and passing ability. After following Bouchard since his draft year I'd be willing to put money on the fact that he will certainly by top 4 within the next year or 2. Ultimately, I think the point Nhl_oilers is trying to make is that even though Carlson is an elite, top-tier D-man, it wouldn't make a ton of sense for the Oilers to trade for him unless they decide they are going all in. All in all, I think everyone can agree they are glad this wouldn't happen.

Give AA Another Chance
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafs_and_Sens_Fan</b></div><div>Russell will cost a 3rd to move.
You're paying too much for Jost. 14OA and 26OA is a big difference in this draft class.
Toronto doesn't want those players. Khaira would be like 3rd line on the Marlies. Benning would be the 7th D but costs 2M just on his QO.</div></div>
Khaira and Benning have been linked to the Leafs for a few years now. Dubas might not give up picks for them, but it doesn't mean he's not interested.
I think there's a GM or two out there that still values what Russell brings to the table as a 6D, and given he's an expiring contract owed only 1.5M in real dollars, I'm not convinced EDM would need to give up a 3rd.
Jost is only 22 with potential, regardless of what he's shown in the NHL. Maybe the Avs add on a 3rd or 4th but I don't think I'm too far off in value.

How much would Jost cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>So Jost. Avs 16-17 season everything that could go wrong went wrong. Injuries, bad luck, coaching change 2 weeks before the season all resulted in a debacle of 48 OT season. Expectations weren’t particularly high for the 17-18 season for the Avs and Jost having signed his elc in the spring was expected to develop and be given every chance in the top 6 that season. Then Duchene is traded, MacK becomes MacK and they are fighting for a playoff spot. Jost should have been sent to the AHL but because of lack of talent particularly in the bottom 6 he stayed with Avs bouncing around with different line mates showing promise but because they were in a playoff chase he wasn’t given prime minutes, was mostly relegated to the bottom 6 and some 2nd PP minutes. 18-19 was suppose to be different but he was short leashed, got sent to the AHL for a couple of weeks where it was obvious he was to good to play. But at the end of the season and into the playoff he seemed to establish himself actually as part of the 2nd line w/Colin Wilson and finding his stride. 19-20 Avs get Kadri Burakovsky and Donskoi effectively forcing him back to the bottom 6. He shows flashes during the season including a hat trick against TBL. But never has continuity in a role and linemates he even is killing penalties. Ultimately that brings us to where he is now. Value, honestly a 2nd rd pick and another later pick because he has some obvious skills. Imo if he is given a regular spot with regular linemates on the 2nd line he is a 40-45 pt player who can contribute on special teams. In your trade I think the Avs do that.</div></div>
Thanks for the clarity! Not the first time we've seen this with prospects lol. Not sure if Newhook/Bowers will play C in the NHL but if so it seems like Jost is more than expendable.

Pretty well done IMO. I'd love to see Ennis back with the team as 3LW, but if not I could see Neal slot in there, with Nygard/Benson as 4LW. Personally I'd love to trade for a LW that can mesh with Connor, maybe Johnsson or Hoffman. 3C is definitely something Holland will have to acquire, via trade or FA. I wouldn't mind seeing Haula or Turris (if traded for Neal). Assuming Jesse signs, I'd love to see a JP - Yamo - Kass - Arch down the right side. As for defense, I agree Russell has to be moved by next year. As much as I like Benning, his 2M-plus salary might be steep as a 3rd pairing D, and him leaving would give Bouchard a chance to shine. All in all, should be an interesting offseason!

Possible Moves with Explanation
Well said ColonelX. Once you get to the playoffs anything can happen (as we've seen). But if MB wants to get the Habs to that top 5 tier of elite teams, I think being patient would be the best route. I've been following this years draft quite a bit and am really hoping Holland can add a few more picks in the top 100. It seems like there are so many guys ranked in the 30 - 100 area that could be hits down the road. With that said, Montreal should be in good hands.

I don't see Kenny letting AA walk. We could see a sign and trade, or a short term deal to stay with EDM, there are lots of players on the roster to move for cap. There were a few suitors at the trade deadline that wanted him, and it's pretty tough to judge him only based on this year due to injuries, a terrible DET team, and a tough situation with the pause.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ColonelX</b></div><div>Don't see Montreal having any kind of interest in there. As you've said it's a deep draft and last year Montreal declined a trade to trade down two spots for a third rounder, so why would we take -yet another- bottom six winger and give a mid second for it when this year's a deeper draft? It'd make sense if you were at 12 but trading up only to leapfrog Toronto would basically mean Montreal wants Schneider at all cost.</div></div>
You raise a good point. Looking back at the order the trade would probably be better suited for the 18-22 pick. My thought process was that MTL has a ton of picks, and Chiasson is pretty capable on the PP. Either way it'll be interesting to see what MTL does with their plethora of picks

Agreed it might be a stretch but a lot of the forwards in that 10-20 range have similar perceived value, and with Quinn being an older player I think there's a chance he falls. I'd be happy to have him on the Oilers but if Jarvis is there I think Holland goes with him due to potential.
