I think Bouchard over Broberg, and Carter Savoie should be on the list.

I don't think anyone can think he's a center and Buffalo tends to not play guys on their offwing even if they've played there prior. Olofsson and Skinner both played their offwings before coming to Buffalo and now they're on the left side.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OilFan93</b></div><div>We may be biased as Oiler fans but there is a lot to like about both Bouchard and Carlson. There are also a few similarities, starting with elite vision and passing ability. After following Bouchard since his draft year I'd be willing to put money on the fact that he will certainly by top 4 within the next year or 2. Ultimately, I think the point Nhl_oilers is trying to make is that even though Carlson is an elite, top-tier D-man, it wouldn't make a ton of sense for the Oilers to trade for him unless they decide they are going all in. All in all, I think everyone can agree they are glad this wouldn't happen.</div></div>
I am mystified every time the OIlers don't go all-in. I think most teams, if they had McDavid and Draisaitl taking turns with the scoring lead, might try to make some noise.
I think if you called Ottawa, the 14th overall would let you dump Neal's two years. Detroit would take Russell for Puljujarvi, and maybe give you a 4th for the difference. This boils down to Carlson for Broberg.

I don’t like that Capitals trade. Broberg is a very good prospect one of our best, 14OA is very good could get a good player out of it (Askarov, Mercer, Holloway etc). Then you throw in Puljujarvi. Puljujarvi I’m my opinion is one of our best prospects. Probably our best forward prospect if you consider him a prospect or not, and if you consider Yamamoto a prospect still or not. With that being said, it would be a dream to dump Russell, and Neal as well, but not at the cost of that. Now if you look at our prospects we have Bear, and Bouchard on the right side. Bouchard is going to be playing top 4 in a few years, so we won’t need Carlson. That’s just my thought process on the trade, and on how much I dislike it.

You're paying too much for Jost. 14OA and 26OA is a big difference in this draft class.
Toronto doesn't want those players. Khaira would be like 3rd line on the Marlies. Benning would be the 7th D but costs 2M just on his QO.</div></div>
Russel is a legit top 6 D, and only 1 year left at 4 mil. He would Comand a 3/4 at the trade deadline as a rental.
Toronto has been linked to both those players and both would play. No 3rd line ahler

I think there's a GM or two out there that still values what Russell brings to the table as a 6D, and given he's an expiring contract owed only 1.5M in real dollars, I'm not convinced EDM would need to give up a 3rd.
Jost is only 22 with potential, regardless of what he's shown in the NHL. Maybe the Avs add on a 3rd or 4th but I don't think I'm too far off in value.</div></div>
The Colorado pick is #24.
Colorado accept this (so do i since i was the one who initially suggested that trade lol)

How much would Jost cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>So Jost. Avs 16-17 season everything that could go wrong went wrong. Injuries, bad luck, coaching change 2 weeks before the season all resulted in a debacle of 48 OT season. Expectations weren’t particularly high for the 17-18 season for the Avs and Jost having signed his elc in the spring was expected to develop and be given every chance in the top 6 that season. Then Duchene is traded, MacK becomes MacK and they are fighting for a playoff spot. Jost should have been sent to the AHL but because of lack of talent particularly in the bottom 6 he stayed with Avs bouncing around with different line mates showing promise but because they were in a playoff chase he wasn’t given prime minutes, was mostly relegated to the bottom 6 and some 2nd PP minutes. 18-19 was suppose to be different but he was short leashed, got sent to the AHL for a couple of weeks where it was obvious he was to good to play. But at the end of the season and into the playoff he seemed to establish himself actually as part of the 2nd line w/Colin Wilson and finding his stride. 19-20 Avs get Kadri Burakovsky and Donskoi effectively forcing him back to the bottom 6. He shows flashes during the season including a hat trick against TBL. But never has continuity in a role and linemates he even is killing penalties. Ultimately that brings us to where he is now. Value, honestly a 2nd rd pick and another later pick because he has some obvious skills. Imo if he is given a regular spot with regular linemates on the 2nd line he is a 40-45 pt player who can contribute on special teams. In your trade I think the Avs do that.</div></div>
Really well put. Jost is frustrating because he does a lot of the little things right. He works hard, he’s good on the forecheck, he digs pucks well and does a good job cycling in the offensive zone. And he has plenty of tools - skating, very good hands, good shot, pretty good hockey IQ. His defensive game has also improved steadily, and he’s added penalty killing to his repertoire. The skill definitely flashes. But he hasn’t been able to put it together offensively. Just like you said, I think opportunity has played a big role. I also think it was a mistake to bounce him around between center and wing. But I think part of it is on Jost too. For all the tools he has, he doesn’t get himself into positions on the ice to produce offensively. The weakest part of his game, in my opinion, is his ability to be effectively offensively without the puck.
Personally, I think it’s time to move on. Get value back for him while you can, and if he turns into a legit top six player elsewhere then the Avs shrug their shoulders and know they at least got something back.

Yeah, it's not like anyone on McDavid's line have to pull their weight as a traditional 1st line winger. Just be intelligent enough as a support player and be able to handle the even strength minutes.

Who should stay and who should go
I like Kassian and he's done well in Edmonton, his toughness is a needed element but that contract was a mistake, the Oilers have so many easily replaceable players taking up cap space that could be better used to sign a much needed winger in free agency.

Simple, trade all of them for McDavid.

Don't see Montreal having any kind of interest in there. As you've said it's a deep draft and last year Montreal declined a trade to trade down two spots for a third rounder, so why would we take -yet another- bottom six winger and give a mid second for it when this year's a deeper draft? It'd make sense if you were at 12 but trading up only to leapfrog Toronto would basically mean Montreal wants Schneider at all cost.

Ya. I like the idea and if it wasn’t just entering flat cap situation it might be worth really going for but financial headache rather avoid don’t really need him would be a huge luxury. I agree would be fun to see him and jp together throwing mcdavid in the middle is like the icing on the cake.
