D upgrades but super young bottom 6

Plenty of cap room on this ACGM to bring in a 3rd string tendy

Agreed for sure, Lindholm’s number in UFA will be steep I think likely an overpay for the player as his numbers this year don’t reflect what his ask will be

Liljegren should play over Schenn, "big hits" are fun but getting hemmed in and being all together slow as mud hurts the team too much. I think Schenn makes Rielly worse as well. They need someone who can skate better with Rielly.

That's a lot of cap still for STL to take on.
Half the ROR retention, half the Tarasenko retention, then the Holl cap dump, then the Engvall cap dump.
Plus the 3rd rd pick might not be enough for a team to retain two separate contracts, given that retention slots per team are limited to 3

That defense and goalie are still extremely questionable. Up front, could be best in the league but they D and G , to be brutally blunt, is barely playoff calibre

Kane trade
I do think CHI accepts this, so long as Kane waives his NMC. More money does need to go to CHI though. Not sure how to make that work cap wise for TOR. If we take on Mussin and you keep Kerfoot and Holl, thats a net savings of around 500k for TOR. Sandin+Knies+2023 1st is the package CHI is after anyways, although that may leave TOR too thin at LD

Nope only 11.5. How offersheets work is that if the contract length is over 5 years, its divided by 5 no matter what. So 11.5×7/5 is 16.1 so thats how its calculated

It's definitely interesting but Marner is the best player in the deal and I'm not sure the return is enough with our first and Sandin heading the other way maybe something like Hamilton and 2nd OA for Marner and a prospect like Kral or kokkonen and forget the devil's second and leafs first.

True ... Not sure what they do this year with the UFAs, but an example would be Carolina ... it feels like they always have an endless line of D depth in their system

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BlackwoodForVezina</b></div><div>they could just overpay for garbage UFAS</div></div>
I don’t really get this line of thinking. The coyotes. Should have two goals over the next few years: 1. Acquire future assets. 2. Be bad.
They have to reach the cap floor, so why go on a spending spree if you’re trying to be bad. Shouldn’t a sub-goal be to maximize the value of their retained contracts? To the end of being bad, wouldn’t using some of their cap floor space to pay someone to play for another team be the best way of doing that? I guess you could argue that locking up one of those three retained contracts for four years might not be ideal, but if the return is good enough, i think its a no brainer.
Lets say the price tag for Chychrun is two firsts, and any prospect the yotes want, which i think is fair. Does full retention add another first? If it does, I think thats a good idea for the yotes.

Such a tough spot to be in. I feel bad for the leafs. They should be in the position to mortgage the future. This should be their time, with the core coming into its own, and Tavares still very good.
But then there’s florida, and tampa, and boston right there. Even if these players could be acquired, i still think tampa speed bags them. And if somehow they get out of the Atlantic, the best case scenario is they get Sidney Crosby chasing one last cup. Worst case is the buzz saw that is Carolina. Just very very tough timing.

Instead of that asinine first statement you might as well just mash your hands against the keyboard and press send like this: skjhgfsfhdssfcbedvnmhhg
By that logic Olli Jokinen was a bust at the time
At Liljegren's age he just had a 16 point season
So many players peak 24+ it's absurd to ignore that
Clearly when a team is contending for a cup they let their prospects mature while giving old Zach Bogosians the 3rd pair role: it's very common
Liljegren has had elite AHL numbers for his age
He looked very very NHL ready in preseason
And yeah he just turned 22 last April like...
It's just such a waste of everyone's time here to post malarkey like that especially when so many players disprove your statement *ahem* Jack campbell
Edit:
Typo.

That's a really poor return for Rielly... Puljujarvi's stats are boosted from playing with McDavid just like Kassian and Chiasson's were.
Dougie gets more. Seth Jones got 9.5Mx8. Hamilton gets at least 9Mx7.

Position switch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oiler3535</b></div><div>He had 1 year of elite offensive production. Only the one. Otherwise he's been just good. But I'm not talking 1 game sample. He has never been good in his own end. Not one year has he had a defensive war in the positive.</div></div>
I tend to agree with what you say. Reilly is just average when actually playing defence in his own zone. He's very good on the PP. But the he has never been a go to guy on the PK.
At his best at even strength, when he able to transition with puck from defence to offence.
Not saying the first place Leafs will do as you suggest, but it's an original creative thought. And I agree with you about Dermot. He's the guy who been hampered with poor partners for years, but is worthy of more respect for his play by CF followers.
