I don't recall any substantial offers being made for Dubois. Also 2 2nd round picks and Drouin is not a bad offer. It's not a great offer but not a bad one. 2nd round picks are very valuable.

Jake Allen is worth a 2nd.
Why trade Anderson and a 1st for a 3rd line winger?
Petry is worth more than that.
Colorado don't have the money for Gallagher.</div></div>
Salary dump that's why. Jake Allen isn't worth a 2nd. Petry is is not worth more. Habs need cap space.

If Colorado is trying to acquire Giroux and strikes out Gallagher could be a plan b. If Colorado can make the money work for Giroux they can make it work for Gallagher. He would be very useful in the playoffs for Colorado.

I don't see a trade where Edmonton wouldn't have to retain any $$$ on a Russell deal. I'd be easier to just buy him out. Less than a million against the cap I'm fine with plus $3mill in cap savings and opens a spot for Jones.

The only reason I picked Arizona is cause they are know for taking other teams bad contracts for picks / players. I still believe in JP could become an elite scorer in the league.

The trade sucked but it's done now and there's worse defenseman then Larsson out there, just leave Hall in NJ.</div></div>
If you read the latest news about Hall he's not signing an extension with NJ. So no I'll trade for Hall rather than him go to another team. Oilers have plenty of other good prospects.

If you think buying him out will make them better it won’t.</div></div>
No one is taking on Russell's contract fully and I'd rather buy him out than retain money on his deal. Oilers have practically no dead money if you looked at it at all. Pouliot at just over 1 mill for this yr and next and gryba at 300,00. Buying out Russell and replacing him with a younger faster dman is in the Oilers better interest.

It's been well known that during last season Benning and his staff discussed a Lucic for Eriksson swap but that was before Chirelli was fired. Who knows what'll happen now with Holland. I added the 2nd round pick as compensation for Goldolbin.

Makes lots of sence for the King's as they are trying to get younger. That's why I added a 1st and Ethan Bear. Also Milan loved it in LA still has a place there and his old coach Todd McClellan is there now that could be a huge factor.

Cap Space and Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YvanF</b></div><div>As mentioned above. Vegas has to rid themselves of like 10M of cap space to sign their UFA's/RFA's. There si no chance they go for this. That being said, Russel could easily be traded for minor pieces to numerous teams that may need to get closer to the cap floor (Ott).
I don't mind the Lucic/Kovy swap. But I highly doubt LA goes for it. I doubt Kovy would waive for Edmonton BUT... if her does...it would be sweet. Kovy may have a higher cap hit but has 2 less years on his contract and his NMC expires at the end of next season. Which means he does NOT need to be protected during the Seattle Expansion draft (which Lucic does). Kovy's last year also does't have any signing bonuses therefore can be bought out. Kovy could bring more skill and realistically play top 6 minutes... even though he is dreadfully slow. He was barely playing 3rd line minutes in LA, therefore he may be open to waiving his NMC to come to Edmonton if it gets him top six minutes. His start was very rocky in LA and who knows, would may be open to a "fresh start". That being said, the fact of the matter is, it all depends on LA and sweetening the pot enough to convince them the terrible Lucic contract is worth taking over. Maybe a 2nd round pick instead of a their would do it. Or else a D prospect.</div></div>
Keep in mind LAs new coach is Lucics old coach from Edmonton Todd McClellan who loved Lucic. Kovy fell out of favour in LA and McClellan being there may just be enough for LA to pull the trigger and swap two underperforming players. Plus LA gets the draft pick as a sweatener and Lucic would most definitely bwaive his NT to go back to LA.
