Thank you! I understand what you mean with Jones and Sundqvist tbh. The trade for Gilbert was just based on the idea of the Rangers looking for another defensive defenseman. I wouldn’t mind the Rangers holding on to Zac though.

Maybe they reunite with Tarasenko or Vatrano? I’m hoping Wheeler has a better second half, although it seems like he usually has slow starts each season for some reason

In all honesty though those rangers teams were soft but now it feels like there’s no direction. Why are they paying Trouba 8 mil to do nothing more than pretend to be the hulk?

Honestly I think it has more to do with the Rangers liking him in his role on 4th line and as utility player. They could buy him out and actually gain 200k so im not sure what other reason there is for keeping him 🤷♂️

Yeah I actually am concerned about that like what are they trying to do? I guess miller must be going to arb bc that’s the only way they buyout Goodrow I believe

This isn’t exactly what I’d want for the team but I don’t think they’re getting rid of Goodrow since the buyout window and draft already passed. That forward group needs work though.

Assuming Miller gets offer sheet, Rangers next coach wants a familiar player (both Hynes and Laviolette know Sheary), San Jose wants one of its center prospects playing full time next year, and the smoke in NY isn’t getting to my head

If only they had kept Buchnevich. For now, though, Kakko and Laf will probably take Kane and Tarasenko’s spots. They want more playing time anyways, and the team was unhappy Gallant didn’t give them that.

Pacioretty grew a huge Rangers fan, btw. He’s from CT. It’s why I’d assume he may consider joining the team.

Did you get a chance to read the description? I’m no fan of seeing the Rangers buy him out, but that seems to be the only option because of the cap. Very unfortunate, he’s a good player

Yeah honestly him signing for that little is the best-case scenario. There are some projections showing it's possible given he has limited negotiating power, though

I'm still confused as to who would fill those spots, though. Laf seem to be getting at least 3 mil and Miller 3.5. If the team only goes with 20 skaters, there won't be anyone to call up for replacement when someone's injured

Trivigno, Korczak and Lindbom are most likely not ready for NHL action. Berard might have an outside chance at making it, as with Robertson, but they probably wouldn't be regulars. I think relying on Harpur to play top-4 minutes is a huge risk, as he looked shaky this past year and hasn't really gotten that kind of playing time in the past. Lafreniere and Miller may not have the ability to fill a role the way Goodrow can, but they're still impactful offensively and could contribute more points than him (Laf and Miller scored a combined 82 points compared to Goodrow's 31).

The Rangers have two young/cheap LHD in Robertson and Jones. Would including either of them in the trade make it more manageable (if Fleury isn’t a long-term answer for the bottom pair)?

It’s not his fault, but the cap would make it impossible to keep him. Most seem to think he’d have to be cap-dumped to be traded anyways, and it wouldn’t be worth giving up on someone like Lafreniere or Miller to keep him.

Realistically, no; I would have to agree that the Rangers could make many other moves beyond trading Fox. This was just more of an experiment, but one of the few ways I could see the Rangers getting a solid top-6 RW and top-4 D this offseason (beyond Kane maybe... maybe re-signing on a discount)

Didn't know this, thank you for the info! I had thought that as long as the contract went past a player's age-27 season they'd be able to have their NTC included on the contract for the entire duration of it.

Unthinkable Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>I think you are forgetting about how Fox ended up on the Rangers in the first place. Whilst Francis was gone when the Hamilton trade went occurred that sent Hamilton and Fox to the Canes, he was certainly paying attention to the situation. Fox only wanted to play for the Rangers, and whined his way into a trade to get out of Calgary and Carolina. Francis knows that, and he isn’t going to pay for someone he knows won’t want to play there.</div></div>
It was a thought of mine while making this, but Fox did weigh some other options before going to NY (particularly Chicago). Seattle may be anything but close to home for him but it's definitely not a bad destination considering they're contending and the city isn't as remote as some others. If Fox were that determined to stay where he is, I would think he'd take the opportunity to sign a NTC. Other than that, so long as he's getting paid 9.5 million to play it would be strange to see a player stop competing out of protest for not being where he wants to be.
