<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>steveospeak</b></div><div>Why would the Pens consider this deal?
It clearly makes them weaker for a Cup run this year and going forward. Dadonov is better than Brassard, but he's only under control for one extra year. ZAR and Maatta have a ton of extra control, and the loss of Maatta would be a big blow to the defense, one that isn't replaceable in house.</div></div>
I am not high on ZAR at all and i am not crazy about Maata's game, he is slow and weak along the boards. I am a real big fan of Dandonov so perhaps it is a slight overpayment. Plus we also have cap space to add defensive depth.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>riles23</b></div><div>Why does moving a centre for a winger make any sense? I am not comfortable with Sheahan as 3C</div></div>
The line of Guentzel-Sheahan-Kessel was very good in the limited games. I think it makes our line-up much more potent. Having Guentzel-Kessel or Patches on a 3rd line.

i agree, the cap situation would probably be too tight. MTL could probably get more but it is rental for rental, both positions of need. Both could at least have exclusive negotiating rights for a year, to work out something of term.

Slow Day
I think this is what the opening night line-up will look like pretty much. I think Jarry only gets about 750K though, still i think you have the players right.

Antoine Roussel?
I was surprised as well. was looking at the LW options Yohe through out there and his numbers really stood out. Not sure we will be able to get him under 2M though. Plus Dallas has no state income tax so we have to compete with that as well.

Minor moves
I think they are high on ZAR, i am with you that i believe that Kunitz brings more to the table in terms of leadership, etc. Not sure ZAR will amount to anything more than a bottom-six forward he is not at an age where players generally take a step forward.

I can't see us going this direction. I think Bozak and Vanek are both defensive liabilities. Good bottom six adds just not in our situation.

I hope you are right. Makes no sense to add that much cap to bottom pair either.

Like the moves but Sheary is much better than ZAR and Kunitz right now. 41 goals over the past two seasons. 3rd in 5 on 5 goals on the team last year. I would think ZAR sits in this scenario. Like the overall team though.

Maybe 1M too much for Kunitz but I like the players and pretty realistic. Maybe take the Million from Kunitz and split between Moore and Nash.

Think you are a little light on the Rust, Kunitz and Sheahan contracts but like the signings. Not sure what Grabner gets, i think it will be north of 3M.

I might do the Kessel deal if it were for the 2018 1st round pick and a 2019 2nd round pick. I wouldn't use up all of that cap space on Mike Green however. I think we would be better served adding a higher-grade wing to replace Kessel.

Pens Post Draft Team
I like the players you added. I don't think signing other teams RFA's is an option most GMs pursue. You would most likely have to trade for their rights. I also think Beagle is going to cash in a bit, i think someone over pays and gives him 2.5-3 somewhere. i would also re-arrange your lines you have some guys out of position. Sprong plays RW exclusively.

Kessel is not a Torts player. He even snubbed him at Olympics. Plus if they deal Panarin i would think it would be to a non-Metro team.

Kessel - Minnesota
Maybe. Greenway is a top prospect and Coyle is a solid two-way player. Also frees up a great deal of cap space to add other players that you could not add under current situation.

Kessel - Minnesota
Because Coyle is better he had 21 goals and 18 goals the prior two years and can play center, he only played 66 games last year and had bit of a down year. You can't have two good players on your roster? Mike Green has solid advanced metrics, good at zone exits and entries. One-year 5 million to take a shot at a cup why not? we want to play top-pair less.

Minor forward shake up
You are probably right. I think ideally i would like it if they swapped out Sheary for a two-way forward that could kill penalties. This way we don't have to play Kuhnackl. Throw in Sprong and a healthy Brassard and we should be fine.
