I don't want anything to do with brian elliot... if you watched any tampa games, his games were pretty much automatic losses. would rather have the Ebugs than him

you realize that Sammy is an RFA and is going to arbitration?
His number is like around 2.2 million. Team has full control over his contract.
So leafs will buy out murray or will trade him with an asset but will have samsonov for 2.2 this season and then have the ability to work on an extension later when the cap goes up.

25 26 Leafs
well Knies hasn't even played a full season - we don't even know if hes a 8 million dollar player let alone even a 6...
Liligren hasn't played as a 6 million dollar player - hes lucky to get 4 and term at this point (alot would have to improve to secure the bag)
Matthews is looking for 14/14.5 for 5 years, likely signs 13.5/14 for 4-5 years
Bertuzzi is currently making 5.5, why would he sign for less? hes about to play on a line with Matthews and Marner, he will be a 6 mil player if not more with the cap going up (someone will pay)
Woll hasn't even played as a starter and we are jumping to 5 mil? goalies are a crab shoot and rarely get long term deals unless they are a franchise player (see campbell or even freddy)
Nylander isn't signed because hes demanding north of 10
Tavares will likely still be on this team as a 2.5-3 mill player
Alot of these one year players leafs currently have are banking on putting up numbers this year to go and get over paid somewhere else when the cap rises.
your team needs to consider bridge deals and smaller/more realistic cap hits

Peace out Willy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DJP1117</b></div><div>So Thats not enough for Sammy even on a 1 year deal. thats just above what he was just paid and he had a really good season. He deserves min 3M on a 1 year deal and will get it or asked to be traded.
Thats to much coming back from Calgary. Toronto would grab this deal and run , Getting Lindholm AND Hanifin? PLUS a PICK? Plus theyre taking on TImmins 1.1M ... This is just to good to be true. it would have to be either or of those guys to make it worth it take one of them out.
EDIT: AND I just noticed you have money retained on Lindholm as well... youre a crazy person!
I like the top 6 better with WIlly in it for this year. If worst comes to worst they can always just sign him to the 9-9.5M now and hope he pots 40-50 then trade him next offseason. They would be foolish to trade him now. having such a team friendly deal with a guy making less then 7M that can score 40+ you HAVE to keep him in the lineup this year. EVEN if it means he could potentially walk. You have to take that chance.</div></div>
just working backwards on your comment
1. willy is wanting 10.5, leafs can't give that to him. Look at what brad did with Tkachuk last off season. I blame coaching and goaltending for calgarys playoff miss
2. 50% retained is for next season, add a third party team and a pick for leafs. the principle would be leafs having retained lindholm. Calgary is in the same trouble with these guys and can't lock them in long term at the moment. it's not too far off for the leafs to capitalize on this. Hanifin i'm sure will go somewhere else but i also wouldn't have guessed Calgary would have been able to get Weegar and Huberdeau a first and a good prospect for Tkachuk.
3. Sammy is an RFA, his arbitration is 2.1M, leafs have full control of him
Edit
Main take away from this is that leafs can flip willy for two pieces and spread depth. It would be a top 4 D and a top 6 player. Timmins has shown growth and with further development can be valuable - he is secured as an RFA so he can be flipped if Calgary doesn't want.

no disrespect but the problem with this is that Willy is looking for 10.5 according to Chris Johnston. If he was willing to do 8X8.8 leafs would have already signed him
also, calgary would take this and run, you have a little too much value on the leafs side.

Lines Without Matthews and Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iBeLeaf</b></div><div>I admit that I oversimplified the situation with Kerfoot as Keefe believing he is a top line guy over Bunts and Willy. I agree Bunting needed the demotion to figure things out, and hopefully he has or will soon. His game-tying goal against the Devils should greatly help his confidence going forward.
I also agree with what you said about spreading out the top guys when Matthews is healthy and loading up the top line when he's not playing. Hopefully Keefe sees it the same way.
I wish I had the same faith in Kerfoot as you do that he will eventually score soon, but he's been snake-bittten all year with a career low shooting percentage and missing wide open empty nets, fumbling breakaways and 2-on-1s, not scoring on penalty shots, etc. I feel bad for him because he is trying his best and working hard to do all the little things right and just isn't getting a lucky break, but with all of the grade A looks he's getting, he NEEDS to bury those chances! Would you trust him to score in a game 7 right now? And let's not forget his brain fart drop pass in game 6 last playoffs. Nice guy and great teammate but 0% finishing ability this year. He needs to sit in the playoffs but probably won't.</div></div>
You realize Kerfoot is like one of our top producers in the playoffs over the last few years right?
Playoff hockey is different. You'll see

Lines Without Matthews and Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iBeLeaf</b></div><div>This is what I originally wanted to do (and what the Leafs SHOULD do if both Tavares and Matthews were out) but I was trying to get inside Keefe's head and unfortunately his current logic is that Kerfoot is a top line guy over Nylander and Bunting...</div></div>
No his logic isn't that - Kerfoot may not be putting up points, but his game has been better than bunting. Bunting plays with emotion. Before last game, he was shifting from his game, was getting pissed and arguing with refs for non calls. The demotion is to get him to figure it out. He did last game. when assessing Kerfoot you need to look at his game from a non point production aspect sadly. He may get paid too much but he does alot of the little things well. He will score soon, he's doing everything else right.
Nylander is second line because when matthews is healthy you spread out the top guys. when your roster is this depleted, you load it up

UFA swap
lol earlier TSN insiders said Flyers looking for a 3rd round return.
I can see them trading Holl and a 4th for him 50% retained. Philly would then be able to flip Holl. Leafs would at a late pick to montreal to retain some too if they want flexibility
Not to mention Murray is probably coming off LTIR for tomorrows game

Leafs would rather have the cap flexibility for Bunting, Nylander and Matthews renegotiation. Let alone attempting to resign O'Reilly. Again, 5mil is too much for a bottom 6 guy

Just because leafs shouldn't touch him at 5 mil doesn't mean Vancouver sells and retains. 4 years is sooo much term for retention for a team that let their captain walk because they couldn't sign him
