i like it but i don't think blues part with him. I think Dubas can find a way to sing a 3rd for Holl in this years draft instead

Highly doubt leafs would part with both Knies and Minten.
Maybe if you have washington retain youd consider parting with both, but doubt he does this

No disrespect but it seems you forget how playoff hockey works. yes Timmins has been a great reclamation project and has been good. He started to slip before all these trades. You want to shelter him a little and give him a few opportunities down the stretch and have him be ready for next year.
Sandin was also having a few inconsistent plays. mix in him being 4th on the left side and not able to switch to the right, plus contract problems earlier, apparently his agent earlier told Dubas that he wanted to play so now he plays. Its asset management. ZAR has been a decent winger but nothing stellar. You need to keep the competitiveness in the locker room otherwise players get complacent and their play slips.
In terms of the relationships and all that, Nylander is a pro, just cause you have a buddy on a team doesn't mean you can't get over it and play hockey. these guys have more money than we will see in our lives, they will be able to see each other in the off season. Do you get sad and not do your job if your buddy stops working with you?
You look at the other teams blueline for every year that the leafs have been eliminated they have size and grit. Dubas tried the small skill route and now he has to try something new.
If you see all the moves hes done and then see that they still have all their top prospects??? thats why Dubas is getting praise. Theres no negative with having proper depth.
Would not be shocked if Dubas trades Holl with a first for a retained top 6 winger. You then go into the playoffs with 13 deep fwds and 8 NHL d men. When tampa won in the bubble i believe they used 13 d men? He's done everything in his power, now its time for the top 6 to play in the big moments

As of right now, Leafs are cap compliant activating Murray and can sign Knies. If anything, Holl is being included in a cap dump for a top 6 forward retained. Who that is? no idea.
idk why you think they don't have leverage

If Engvall gives the leafs a 3rd, a RHD in Holl in this league returns you at min a 5th

Kampf has been one of the best/consistent bottom 6 players since he got here, why would you bench him?
Would rather cut out the chicago trade and work on a Jenner trade. You'd keep Murray and just have him on LTIR. Bring over Quick retained and Jenner, send out Holl and picks.
don't need Caleb Jones or Domi.

He's just not a consistent D man for the leafs system. He will be a player that will end up going to a different team and being a solid 3rd pair guy. He should not have been paired up with Rielly last night

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boomer125</b></div><div>Jeannot is paid peanuts that's why the price was steep also younger and has term</div></div>
... he doesn't have term... hes an RFA. Tampa still has to negotiate and to be frank Jeannot could get offer sheeted in the off season to price himself out of tampa. Tampa over paid for the guy. I love Jeannot, wanted leafs to get him, thought a 1st and robertson was pushing it.. Foote was a 1st round pick himself... so 1st-5th plus a second 1st is suuuch an over pay.
the price was steep cause nashville probably didn't want to trade him but couldn't resist the package for an undrafted player

Washington lucked out huge with that one.</div></div>
He's a player who was going to price himself out of Toronto and wasn't AS good as the hype... he will be a very serviceable NHL D and have a good career, but hes not the stud everyone in toronto thinks. This trade is amazing asset management from Dubas.

First of all..... Don't know how Jeannot goes for what he does and then you sit here looking at a top 6 already established player and think this gets it done... take a lap

Kyle Dubas Heisenberg arc
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Unless they are really high on Robertson which is possible, I don't see any incentive for them doing any retention unless they are getting someone that they would really like that would presumably be Knies. Maybe they do something like 800k to 1m retention for the above package if it interests them (assuming the market for him dries up). If they can get it done as presented here, then that would be some very tidy business by Dubas. Maybe it would be possible if they flip Holl for an asset as well.</div></div>
They are literally paying more in cap space to players not playing on the roster vs rostered players. They need to hit the cap floor. Depending on the structure of the deal it could be very possible that Coyotes would only be really taking the hit on the salary cap and not actually having to pay him alot.
Leafs and other high profit teams usually front load their contracts so that when they go to move the player, its just a cap hit and not actually owed salary being taken on. Not sure how Chychrun is structured.
I dont think this trade happens but its not impossible is all i will say. I think its more likely that they trade Holls cap space and use it to bring in a forward giving them 8 quality d and 13 forwards before even counting the non-roster players

I would say the same but I also would have said the leafs wouldn't be able to make the moves they've made without parting with some top prospects, yet here we are...
That being said, I don't think they would retain 50%, but they would probably retain 1.5M as they need to hit the cap floor due to being such a poverty franchise. The market for Chychrun would also have to dry up.
