No need to reinvent the wheel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Saros isn’t a better asset than Schneider was.
Thats my baseline.
Paying Saros 8+ mill until he’s 38 doesn’t add much value in my eyes. Or we could sign him if/when he hits UFA for free.
Countless times on cap friendly you hear about players who will be traded with “extensions” that magically increase their value.
Yet it rarely, if ever happens in real life</div></div>
We’re giving up a top 10 pick we don’t need, and a RD prospect who’s blocked. Make the deal, hire a competent head coach and let’s go make some runs. No more playing around, time to go.

Yeah they’d definitely ask and understandably so but I think everyone knows Askarov is the guy after this season. Nashville has to make a deal, and we need this guy. The pick + top prospect is proper compensation and best offer they will get: Gets done on draft day I’m sure.

Scheifele and Helle deals

I would trade him for Swayman, and maybe Saros with an extension, but not Hellebuyck at his current contract ask.</div></div>
So take the risk of moving his position vs using him to get a franchise goaltender…..noted 👀

Also to note is that Daws is injured and out for half the year, so you'd need to sign an AHL goalie</div></div>
I mean we either hold onto him and he gets blocked by the core of Hamilton, Seigenthaler, Marino, Hughes, and Nemec two years from now. Or we use an asset like him to acquire a position we could use an upgrade at. If Casey as a centerpiece can get us one of Helleybuck, Swayman, or Sarros you simply have to do it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TathanOTS</b></div><div>Lot of talk here about the 1st not being enough.
If the devils trade san Jose to get back their second it would cost what? Their third and next year's second?
With our 2nd back for the amount of money you are offering in that contract to Swayman after you get his rights you could probably just offer sheet Swayman, Samsonov, or Gustavsson.
Swayman would be the hardest to get. They might match and pray Frederic doesn't win much in arbitration. The Wild don't have that much and leafs have negative that much money. They have to make a trade already and having to match that offer sheet would put them in a very low leverage position.
I'm also not a fan of the 22 man roster but that is besides the point.</div></div>
Firstly, SJ isn’t trading that pick back. It has a condition where it becomes a 1st if we make the ECF this year.
Secondly, why on earth would we want Samsonov?! He’s no upgrade on Vitek or Schmid.
Third, Minnesota has 8M in cap space what makes you think they don’t match an offer sheet?

I’m definitely inclined to agree that they will likely stick with Vitek and Schmid. I cannot see Helleybuck or Sarros being realistic given the proposed asks. If Swayman could be had for Schmid and a 1st I would definitely say it would be worth it though

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>I don't know if it would be Schmid plus a first. I'm just saying I think Schmid would have to be the centre piece as Boston would want a young goalie with good potential that can place this year to replace him. I really don't know what the end value would be but I would think Schmid and a first would get it done. Maybe fans of either teams would have a better idea as I am not.
Also I think you might want to sign Swayman for more since I think Boston easily matches that salary and then would have no reason to trade him. I do feel a dollar amount about 4M would be a bit more difficult for them to navigate but not impossible.</div></div>
Devils salary cap is tight too, but they could find a way to get to 4M I’m sure. I just see this as the more realistic option. Schmid/1st is more palpable to me than the jets thinking they’ll get Holtz/Vitek/1st for Helle.

I think Tatars number comes lower. Teams are surely very turned off at his inability to contribute in the playoffs.

Graves is going to be a crazy number. It’s going to be north of 5, which I mean good for him but that was never going to work here. Remaining three can’t imagine being too costly. Thank all four for their service and best of luck in their next endeavors!

How about we just keep Holtz and grab Sorokin next summer. The organization has absolutely no desire to move on from Holtz. They had every important person in the front office/coaching staff in his exit interview. They want this guy playing with Hischier and Bratt in the fall.

I’m a fan of Blake Wheelers game, and I think he’d be a good fit with Haula and Palat on the third line. That being said I think a buyout is imminent, and all teams are just going to wait for Winnipeg to do the inevitable

Raising Helle
I don’t think the question is if it’s doable or not. I think the right question is it worth it to make a move now, or wait 12 months to potentially sign Sorokin and not have to give anything up to get the younger/better goalie. But regardless you have to quote Mercer’s extension somewhere between 5.5-7 AAV to get decent length.

Connor Hellebuyck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devsfan25</b></div><div>As much as I’m rooting for Holtz to succeed, what has he done to justify a top 6 role? His draft slot? If getting a franchise goalie costed us Holtz, you have to pull the trigger. For what it’s worth, without a Hellebuyck trade my lineup would be the following:
Meier- Hischier- Mercer
Bratt- Hughes- Holtz
Palat- Haula- Clarke
Foote- McLeod- Bastian</div></div>
He’s performed at a PPG level when given a top 6 role in Utica. We put him on the 4th line after he was scoring on a line with Jack in the preseason. The coaching staff needs to put the kid where he can succeed; not playing with McLeod and Wood playing 9 minutes a night. I do not trade him for a 30 year old goalie. Not a shot.

Absolutely not on Sharangovich or Clarke playing top 6. Palat is best deployed on the third line.
