Let Holtby Walk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>tavares is better? look at their stats the last 3 seasons and get back to me on who's better. and that hardly matter again bc backstrom will be a ufa and can sign anywhere for 3 years for the same money he can sign in dc for in 5 years...
backstrom literally get no respect at all its terrible.</div></div>
I mean, if we offered Backstrom for Tavares straight up, Toronto would laugh in our face.

Tavares is a better player than Backstrom and was five years younger when he signed his deal. I don’t think Backstrom would get anywhere close to 10M AAV on the open market.

Let Holtby Walk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>I assume 8.5 after the massive discount we got on the first deal</div></div>
Pavelski just got 7M AAV for three years for a loose comp. I think a fair deal for Nick would be 6x7.5M. That contract wouldnt be great in the final year or two but it keeps the cap hit lower during the last few years of our window.

If we sign Holtby to some ridiculous deal that will pay him 9M when he’s 37 I will riot. His last two regular seasons have been average and he was not good in the playoffs last year.

Blues trade
Doubt STL would go for that straight up....might have to throw in a pick. But if we got Fabbri I’d probably put him on the third line and drop Hagelin to the fourth

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>Fair enough, but you can use some of that "money" from the UFA/trade for a 3RW on his salary, or just do a 2 year bridge for around $4M</div></div>
Yeah, with the cap coming in at 81.5M I think that pretty much guarantees Vrana is getting a shorter bridge deal.

Don't think Vrana will be that cheap for a five year term.

Holtby is gone after next year (can't afford extensions for both he and Backstrom) and frankly outside of the 2018 postseason he hasnt looked great for the past two years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KVS1</b></div><div>Agree goalies are important but Caps can't afford Holtby after 19 and future (Samsonov) needs another year. Riitch part of a trade makes sense. I like the trade, love Anderson, the pick and might gamble on the Czech goalie. Not sure how Flames afford Holtby. Panarin is a pipe dream. Going to one of the coasts where he can be the big dog. Would rather resign Vrana, Hagelin, Burky and Connolly with Holtby money.</div></div>
Well DC is on the coast. And obviously he'd be with some of his Russian friends.

Trade with MIN for Spurgeon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>staytru20</b></div><div>The overage is calculated into the overall cap hit. I have added every salary up on my previous AGMs and they are always $1.15M lower than the cap hit shown at the top.</div></div>
Got it - thanks. That makes sense.
