June in normal years right after the Stanley cup is the start of the new fiscal year for hockey, but the FA signing period is first week of July, that’s means that FA are no longer employed by any franchise, however they are not allowed to sign until the FA window opens. I could be mistaken, however I know this is how the sharks protected like 4 players from the expansion draft ( they all resigned after the draft before FA began)

I’ll double check but this little clause is what helped the sharks protect like 4 extra players last expansion draft.

The expansion draft takes place 3 days after the new season begins meaning the players are officially FA however they are unable to sign until the FA period begins 1 week after the draft.

The goal tandem I want to bash but Stalock is a solid backup who has won a few playoff games, Murray I’m not high on but he’s young with two Stanley cups so who am I to judge. I think I would have chosen Lehnr over him but still a solid lineup

Your statement is fair, it’s just I can’t label anyone a bust if they have scored 50 points in a season before age 25. And it’s ok for a draft to not have a bust, just shows no one reached for a player and he failed which is good, just not normal but again I understand where your coming from.

Team Top 10 Draft Pick Bust 2009-2016
How is Strome in this list? First he’s only 23,
Last year he had 51 points in 58 games played
This year he has 38 in 58 games played
Not elite but that most certainly isn’t in bust territory.
If you combine both years he is at roughly .76 points per game or 61-64 points per full season
That’s a really good 2nd liner or decent / slightly below average 1st liner.

Montreal was good last year and got really deep this offseason. They have one of the best goalies in the league and his backup starts on 3/4 of the teams in the league. Even if they have 2-3 season ending injuries this team is still top 4

1/2 the price yes, but Sorenson is proven to be an NHL caliber bottom 6 player with good speed and a little grit for a smaller dude. I wouldn’t close the book on him just yet, and the Swedish team isn’t a good judge of his talent, but it is giving him confidence and in the end I feel it will help him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ASharksFan</b></div><div>I think all the extra forwards are signed because of COVID-19. All of the guys you want to trade, except Sorensen, can be sent down with minimal cap implications if younger players out play them.</div></div>
I think Sorenson is in for a nice bounce back season I see him being top PK option 3LW 12-14goals 25-30 points in 60 game season which I think makes him a solid middle 6 option for us.

Scouting a player those are the metrics to help what your eyes see! The game is what I love but if I’m scouting a player I watch him and see what I see on the ice then verify what I’ve seen with his metrics’s .

Don't have a strong opinion on the other three, I think it's enough of a shake up that might get them back into the playoff picture.</div></div>
Subban at only 2 years is palatable and comes off the books right when 2 players need hefty pay raises. It’s a means to and end with the vlassic deal but it’s a brutal overpay to get rid of him

I like the idea of the Lightening trade, but then there's no reason on God's Green Earth to swap out Leno & a 2022 1st round pick for <em>Strome</em> of all players. I swear to god, I'm gonna start throwing chanclas if people don't start putting some respect on the 2022 draft. Revised both the devils and the hawks trades to be a tad more fair. Is it better or still bad????
Guys you have also consider in 2 years Ferraro needs a raise, Hertl needs a raise, if Donato plays as expected he gets a bump next years, if any of the rookies make a solid jump they all need raises and melnichuyk will play next year in the nhl and in 2 years as well will need a raise, we need devil trade to free space and Subban comes off the books exactly when we will need the space most!!! That’s why I felt this whole thing worked
Plus Strome will be signed 2-3 year bridge deal and then need a raise as well.
I did these trades to make us better now and in 2-4 years.

He’s a good player, however tampa has waived him and practically said “we don’t want you” the entire NHL said no to picking him up for free so he has very few options play for the sharks or maybe 1-2 other teams who accept the trade options or play in the AHL. And I don’t feel bad for “decimating”
Someone earning 5 mil a year. Plus a lot of players play for the sharks and never want to leave, Boyle came from Tampa and still lives here Damphouse from Montreal still here Nolan, Nabokov, Grier, marleau, players love playing for the sharks.

Agree I want to also trade the 2021 pick for another 2022 pick tbh
And the Benicia to the decor trade is in 2 years when Hertl is ready to be paid we have Subban 9 mil off the books!
It’s a bad overpay I know.:. But how else do we clear up our problems and rebuild this year and for the next 3 without that trade!
I I love Strome I want him, hot about the 2021 1st and we keep the 2022 1st!??!

lol I know I just like the kid a lot! And I think he would flourish here.
Buying out Vlasic leave him on the books for 12 years
6.4 mil, 1.4 mil, 3.65 mil 1.40 mil, 4.15 mil 5.15 mil
1.65mil 1.65 mil 1.65 mil 1.65 mil 1.65 mil 1.65 mil
That’s brutal. That’s why I’m trying to trade him.
This deal opens up a ton of cap and helps us clear up a weak link and a bad contract, it’s a brutal pill to take, however one that gets us out of purgatory and sometimes you gotta make a deal with the devil to escape purgatory.

He’ll excite everyone in San Jose for maybe 15 games or so because he’ll get a couple powerplay goals, and a couple four on four goals. You’ll think you got a real steal! Then you’ll start to notice things. Laughably bad effort. Horrible positioning. Zero awareness. No grit. Just all in all horrible away from the puck. That’s happened on his last two NHL teams, and I don’t think he’s changed. The kid is KHL bound.</div></div>
His Corsi and his fenwick say otherwise both show an above average player with and without the puck, is that cause of linemates or was his coaches sheltering him?
I’m not argueing I’m truly curious cause I wana know what we’re getting.

Would you prefer Sorenson? I like Donato I’d love to keep him but we would need about 2 mil going back to level our cap
