Punishing PLD

As for Reichel/Kaliyev, I'm curious what you think is off there. Both have shown flashes but are inconsistent. Maybe LA needs to throw in a late pick, but LR has only played like 2 months of really good hockey so far in his career.</div></div>
Reichel is almost a full year younger and drafted a year later then Kaliyev. Reichel was pretty good when called up from being sent to AHL at the end of the year. Not as good as he was last season, but much better than his struggles earlier this season that earned him some AHL time.

No thanks on both Hawks trades. PLD is overpaid by at least 2 million per year with 7 years left....that kind of negative contract takes way more than the #21 pick in a realitively weak draft. Reichel is a year younger than Kailyev and the Hawks are probably a year away from giving up and contemplating moving on from him. Like exo says...a lesser prospect or pick might interest the Hawks.

Hawks aren't interested in PLD and while I'd take a flyer on Kaliyev...it won't be for Reichel. Understood he didn't have a good year, but we're not interested in trading him away. What about Isaak Phillips? Physical LD.

????? You're not punishing the PLD by trading him to the Hawks....you're punishing the Hawks. Hawks have no interest and certainly have no problem reaching the cap floor.

I know it doesn't make any sense keeping Enty around, but I really hate losing him.

What I would do this offseason
Gonna need more than a 3rd to take on the last year of Schmidt, even with retention.

Hawks don't need retention on Schmidt. What they do need is a 2nd rounder to take him.

As a Hawks fan I would be happy with that deal for Batherson, I just can’t see Ottawa making that move.

Yup I agree with all the Hawks fans above, keep Moore and the 1st round pick. I would also add that the Hawks should be all over Pesce if what is posted above is the price tag

Hawks decline. Don't see them trading Moore for a RD who's probably getting $7m plus but doesn't really fit what the Hawks want on their blue line. Hronek is a good player. Not a fit for the Hawks though - especially at that price.

Hronek is good. Like really good and he fits a need in Chicago. The thing is that Mikheyev is a cap dump so it takes draft capital or prospects to move him. Oliver Moore was a dream come true for Chicago when he was still on the board with Tampa's pick last draft. He's going nowhere. Tampa's pick this year is another top 20 and will net another top prospect. I don't see the value here for Chicago considering where they're at right now. Yes, Hronek is worth a package like that from a team ready to win now but Chicago's window is not wide open yet.

It's simple math. Hawks keep Moore, the 1st and then have about 12m to sign UFAs instead of taking on Mikheyev, and the newly signed Hronek.

Unless the prosposal has been changed....that would be a yes from this Hawks fan. When you get rid of the lower picks this boils down to two 1st for five 2nds (all lower aka not the Hawks own).

Draft
There should be much better options than Boisvert at 20th OA, and I doubt NSH would have to trade up to get him, if they really want him. Also, CHI would have very little interest in all of those players you are sending. I probably wouldn't even pay that 3rd round pick for Fabbro, honestly. Some team might, but CHI seems to be only interested in large bodied players on the backend.

If Boisvert is still on the board at #20, Hawks would probably just pick him. The value in the trade isn't bad. But the Hawks would have zero interest in Del Gaizo. And not certain Fabbro is a player they'd trade down for either.

We have the cap space. I'd say the route toward the 2nd is more realistic.

Finally some luck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>Hawks do that deal all day, but Colombus should be able to get more.</div></div>
Not sure what you mean by "more", but spending more than this would be a big risk for almost every team in the league. This already is risky, IMHO. Maybe an early 2nd would be more reasonable, given his pedigree and all that. But, if he continues to miss time, continues to massively underperform on his contract, becomes un-tradable, and just walks in two years, we will have just paid CBJ to give them $8.7M x 2 years in cap relief and $18.2M in total salary relief and received nothing in return. We already overpaid them in another transaction, no need to do it again.
