<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoachCoach</b></div><div>So you just choose to view it from only OTT's side lol thats fine. Division rivalry aside, the conversation doesn't come up.

"Kaspar would make more sense for both Detroit and Ottawa" - Incorrect. Kasper is more important as he is the 1/2 best C prospect the Wings have. Compher and Copp are "plug" or "stopgap" players, and are not meant to be the answer down the middle. They can help transition MK/ND to the center position upon entering the NHL, eventually slotting into winger positions.

Niederbach is a tier below both, and is just as likely to hit as he is to not play a game in the NHL. History would indicate he gets some NHL games in a bottom 6 role.

"Kaspar makes more sense than Mazur for both sides" - Again, incorrect. Wingers are the easier position to find. Centers are far more valuable and both Kasper (8) and Danielson (9) were picked where they were to be a future tandem for Detroit. Not to be sold off "IN DIVISION" for a future position of strength.

Second point, JC only has one year left and will require a raise with term. Detroit would be better served saving that cap and not performing cap gymnastics, while having a solid potential 2/3C core for the next several years.

- Now to your point, no it wouldn't be advantageous to send JC within division I agree.</div></div>

No read what I wrote.... I took Detroit's situation into consideration. As I said.... Detroit if they were going to make a deal for Chychrun? Would prefer the prospect going the other way to be a center. I said this because Larkin, Copp, and Compher all have long-term deals. Plus Danielson, Kaspar, and Reinbach are all center prospects and there won't be room for them all. Mazur who the guy listed as the prospect coming back is a winger. Detroit would probably want to keep the goal scoring winger prospect because Detroit is shallow on winger prospects..... understand?

As for Reinbach? Trust me I've seen him play a decent amount.....Wings fans will love the guy. He's gritty, had a creative bent to his game, and has good speed. I watched him in the playoffs last season, and he was great. He just needs a bit of NA experience. His game is more suited to North America. Like I said this is all a moot point because Ottawa ISN'T going to trade him within the division.

Thread: bye marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tmljk22</b></div><div>Don't see how this makes any sense whatsoever. McCabe is outright a more impactful defensman than Chychrun right now, while Chychrun puts up more points he is far from great on the other side of the puck where McCabe was great all year and was legitimately amazing in their first round series against Boston.

As for the Marner portion of this. Toronto doesn't even think twice about saying no to this deal. Marner despite all of his flaws is still a 90-100 point winger that is a legitimate Selke candidate, he is most definitely worth more than a second pair offensive defenseman that can't seem to stick to an organization.</div></div>

The issue is? They can keep him for one more season and he likely walks at the end of the season. He most certainly won't want to stay after how he is being treated. Marner has a NMC and will not waive it for everyone so the Leafs can get what he's worth. He earned his NMC and because teams know the Leafs will have a limited number of teams to deal with, plus his high cap hit, if the Leafs want to make cap space or add a top 4 defesneman? They have to move from one of their core guys. Don't say Tavares because in order to move Tavares? You'll be adding big sweeteners. His value is nill. I agree that McCabe was one of your better defenseman, but like I said Ottawa holds the cards in a deal like this. You can hold onto Marner and get nothing at the end of next season and roll the dice with virtually your core group in tact for one more season....But if Toronto does that and is out 1st round again? That wuill be Treliving's job right there. So you can bite the bullet, and Chychrun is a better defensive defenseman than he showed this past season. When he first got here? He was great in his own zone. It was DJ Smith who had him playing his off-side and it hurt him. He was much better when he returned to the left side.
