Buffalo Sabres signed Marcus Johansson (2 Years / $4,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drewjenks</b></div><div><strong>Are they good players though? </strong>
Would New York trade Panarin for all 4 of them combined? <strong>(Johanasson, Dea, Lazar and Gilmour).</strong> Would they trade Trouba, Kakko or Fox for them?
The answer is a hard no in all situations IMO.
<strong>Would you agree? </strong></div></div>
Dude, we can read. You don’t need to bold half the post.

MOOOOOOOOOOOSE
I am a big Simmer fan but the guy is done! He is a 4th liner who can be useful on the PP. I would rather trade an asset like a 3rd to VGK and get 1 year of Haula if we don't think both Frost and Farabee won't make it.

Mtch Mrner COL WPG OTT ARI ANA trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roux</b></div><div>First off, hockey aside, as someone who appears to be from the Toronto area, I don't think you realize what a great city Philadelphia is and also how optimal its location is. I see no reason Marner wouldn't sign in Philly for 12.5m if Toronto can't afford to give him 10m+. Also step off the high horse. No one gives a **** that the Leafs are the Leafs. Let them be pissed if they want, business is business.
All that being said. Yes, I was questioning the Voracek trade a bit myself. The Avs have the cap space and a lot of young talent. Voracek is a fantastic hockey player who's locked in for five more years. However, if they aren't interested, I think Voracek has to be worth at least two firsts and a second somewhere. That is where we would get the picks to reload after offer sheeting Mitch Marner.
Finally, I've never been high on the idea of offer sheeting Marner anyways. I'm just playing around with some possible scenarios and getting creative as a keyboard warrior GM anyways cause its fun. I don't think I'm too far out of reality with this though. The market is very interesting this year.</div></div>
I am not from Toronto, and I have been to Philly, beautiful city. I mean as Toronto being his hometown, Philly isn't that much better of a living situation for him (if it's even better at all). And I would guarantee you if Philly offersheets Marner, Toronto Offersheets Provorov. That's what I mean as far as pi$$ing off Toronto. If they lose Marner they have lots of cap space to retaliate.

I dunno if players can legally be traded to private citizens for the purpose of analingus. But if so you can have him and a 3rd for a 7th.

Flyers Best Case
If Hayes was going to sign for under $7M, it probably woulda been done already. Flyers either give him north of $7M or he's testing free agency. & with how good of a contract Gostibehere is on, Philly should aim for more than Hoffman and a pick. If Hoffman walks after 1 year, the Flyers just screwed themselves long term in that deal. Maybe Hoffman with an extension is closer to fair value though

I like Frost, he’s good and shows great potential but he’s not a top 15 prospect. For a signed Trouba it looks like a pretty fair proposal although I could see an add from the Jets to balance it out

Rumor is a first and two prospects. There's also like 10 teams in on him so you have to outbid them if you want Trouba - it's not about what's a fair price, it's about how much you're willing to pay. The Flyers first is a bit higher than most but everyone will be offering at least one top prospect. Laughton is a good utility player who goes the other way for cap reasons.

It's a gamble but everywhere he's been and every chance he's had he's excelled in. He really only needs to be marginally above average and it'll be a huge improvement for the Flyers over the past 2 or 3 seasons.

Getting Some Size
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dmh1055</b></div><div>Why does Ottawa trade for MacDonald? The draft picks are almost meaningless. Yes he helps them reach the cap floor but his salary is actually more than his cap hit. Ottawa would look for players with higher cap hits than dollars to hit the cap floor. MacDonald is not a player they take unless there's a meaningful asset coming with him.</div></div>
I saw your last post and get what you're saying about giving OTT incentive to take MacDonald. The way I see it, I'd offer as high as a 4th rounder for them to take it. The team is rumoured to be quiet this offseason, and are in the brink of a rebuild. To me, giving them a contract like AMac, who has only a year left at $5M, gives them some veteran XP on D, good model for the kids, and you get him off the books after this year when they're ready to make some serious acquisitions. I'm being extremely positive here, I understand there has to be some incentive, but if it were to be too much (like giving up Laughton) then I'd just bury him for the year.
