Sabres name Me as the GM
Making the team competitive with some 1 year deals which allows space to be cleared by the time eichel & Reinharts deals are up
Some big splashes in ufa on d should elevate the team to a playoff spot

Yea I've gone back and forth on the idea of having to throw a draft pick to protect Schmidt

And you can scratch King and put Connolly in if you want more speed and skill

Boyle is a left and Beags the righty
I think it would be an advantage to have that match up on a checking 4th line
Plus both are good at center or on wing
I gave VGS a 5th rounder to make sure they don't take Schmidt
I'm not sure if Copley will be ready yet either so I like Nillson at that spot

Yea I forgot about the back up I signed Anders Nillson for 1yr 1.25mil
I signed Boyle with the idea of switching back and forth between him and beags on the dot depending on right or left matchup at center
They are both very good
Career 55-60% guys

My strategy approaching this offseason was to not get mixed up in the chaos that will be this summer. I resigned my core RFAs, and then moved on to my UFAs. I tried to keep the deals realistic. No big splashes, just retooling and tinkering. With the deals I made, I feel I only strengthened the depth of the team in all areas. (Offense, defense, and also future cap space.) The players acquired were strategic moves, adding to the heavy yet skilled identity of the team. Another purpose of the moves, was to add to the team speed without sacrificing the identity of the team. I feel I did that. How would you feel with this lineup going into the 2017 NHL season?

How did you end up with Leon?
Don't see the oilers letting him go in any scenario ...

Washington Capitals 17-18 Roster (v. 1.0)
I'm sorry man but there is no way we get Burky to sign for 6 years $7.5 mil haha
And I don't think Kuzy is going to take 4 mil a season for 6 years to be the 4th line center

Lots of draft picks, cap room, and not a lot of terrible contracts left. A good mix of young and old on the ice here.

REALISTIC OPTIONS FOR HABS
That's pretty good man
I'd only say probably need longer term to get Oshie
A mid/high draft pick to ensure VGS takes Plekanec
Maybe use the extra cap space to shore up the D as well
Overall pretty solid and doable offseason IMO

Re-building On the Fly
And also it's so hard to trade Backy from our standpoint
A #1 center at 6.7 million for the next 3 years is hard to let go of

Re-building On the Fly
You make a good point
And by no means do I actually want to get rid of Ovi or Backy just giving my shot at a re-build
I have another posted mock offseason where I keep the core
Question on the cap issue?
Are you saying Montreal goes over assuming they resign Radulov, because in my mind Ovi replaces the need to resign Radulov?
Maybe we scratch Sergachev and add another high draft pick?
You should check out my more realistic post too..
A much calmer offseason lol...

Side note-
This would be my opening night lineup to spread out scoring
Can change
Move MoJo to top 6 RW
Wilson top 9 RW & Eller top 9 LW

I see your reasoning, but in my mock offseasons I have Orlov resigning in WSH for anywhere 3.75-4.25 on 4yrs. If I were to bump up the term, I would have no problem matching that offer sheet. There is definitely room under the salary cap for Orly! As for Vegas, you just have to make a trade where they receive player and you don't get anything in return. In the additional details you write "Expansion Draft."

He was just forward depth and I was trying my best to not be a homer on the trade.
