OTT - EDM blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EatMyScoobySnack</b></div><div>Korpisalo would probably bounce back on an good team like he did when he have been trade to L.A so is less an dump then Campbell who is not even able to perform in AHL league.</div></div>
Campbell has a SAV% of 0.911 which is tied for 16th place out of 49 goalies with over 1020 minutes played in the AHL.

THE OIL DONT NEED A FREAKIN FORWARDTHEY NEED JACK GONE AND A REAL GOALIE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Campbell has sucked hard in the AHL. Oilers will either have to buy him out, or they pay whatever asking price is given, which will more than likely be around 2 first round picks. Broberg and Lavoie don’t have as much value as some people seem to think, and whilst Merzlikins hasn’t been great, he still has somewhat decent numbers for a bad team.
Edmonton isn’t going to want to retain on Campbell, so any team thinking about taking him on would have to 1) have the available cap space to take on his 5mil AAV for the next 3 years, 2) be willing to pay the penalty for either burying him or buying him out, 3) be willing to let Campbell potentially take away playing time from their own goalies they would be trying to develop, and 4) be a team that isn’t on his 10 team no trade list. Considering there might only be 3-4 teams that might be willing AND able to take on Campbell, assuming they aren’t on his list, Edmonton will have to bite that bullet or just suck it up and deal with it. They have no leverage in this situation whatsoever.</div></div>
Campbell has played 18 games for the Condors: 10W 8L GAA:2.91 SAV%:0.909

I'm guessing you're a gigantic Bouchard fan, losing Campbell can't be what has you so upset.

swap of bad contracts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Campbell has 4 years at 5 mil left, Armia has 2 years of 3.4 mil left, Broberg offers nothing of value to the Habs since we already have waaayyyy too many LHD, we traded Kulak because we didn't have a spot for him and Xhekaj isn't available unless you want to send a 1st back. So basically we are denying you a good vet goalie, eating 15 mil ish in cap (difference between Armia and Campbell) and only getting back Bourgault, easy pass from the Habs. You are <strong>at least</strong> 2 1st's short.</div></div>
Kulak was a LHD for a LHD (Xhekaj) that balanced cap hit.
If this was proposal was presented to the Habs, a counter offer with an additional draft pick (1) would not be surprising however the math used needs a little tightening:
1) (4 x 5)-(2 x 3.4)=13.2
2) in the minors, Campbell's cap hit is 3.85, 4 x 3.85 = 15.4
3) finally, the proposal has 45% retained on Campbell, 4 x (3.85 x 0.55) = 8.47
The proposal has Armia at NHL status therefore his cap hit remains at 3.4 mil.
Broberg is 22yrs old in the last year of his ELC, even if he is playing in the minors, he is an asset with value.

This leaves Edm. with 18 roster players and only $662,500 of cap space, which is not enough to bring anyone from the minors.
With 2 goalies dressed that would mean all the skaters have lots of room on the bench!

I think you could work around the software limitations by having SJS send Karlsson direct to Edm. with the $2.8M retained and have Van. send OEL to SJS with $2.8M retained. This should give the final cap totals you wanted and the traded players listed with their new team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>So what exactly does San Jose get for Timo Meier? They just giving him away at $3 mil?</div></div>
So you're suggesting that Karlsson is worth everything on the 'in list' ; three 1st rd., one 2nd, 4 NHL players including one of the top PP QBs in the league and two 1st rd. picks that are still RFAs, all for a 32yr. old D-man with a $11.5M AAV that is having a career year after going 0.5pt/game the last two years and only a year ago was considered "unmovable" due to multiple injuries??

Who wins Who loses
San Jose may feel that way based on the reports of their initial ask for Karlsson, (3) 1st rd. picks / or prospect equivalent(s) with 18% retain ($2.07M), but in the current market that was very unrealistic.
Currently there are 6 playoff teams that are not LTIR, Minn has the most cap space at $11.5M however their Dead Cap increases by $2.0M next year and Boldy starts a new contract where his cap hit increases by $6.1M.
Following that is: Winn at 6.34M, LA at 2.54M, Sea at 1.78M, Dal at 1.14M, NYR at 1.13M.
The Sharks are starting a huge rebuild under a new GM who is under considerable pressure to reduce the cap hit and start generating draft picks and new prospects.
Karlsson and Meier are the top scorers and have generated a lot of interest.
If they are kept past the trade deadline it works against the Sharks who will win more games with them than without them and end up with a later draft position that currently is at 5th overall.
It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens but the teams trying to acquire Meier and Karlsson will only do so if they feel it helps them in the upcoming playoffs.

RHD for RHD
Edmonton would be looking at Montour as a RHD improvement for the playoffs for the next 3 or 4 years.
Florida would be attracted to Bouchard who is only 23, Montour is 28, Gudas is 32.
With respect to playing defense, Florida has allowed 185 goals over 54 games, Edmonton has allowed 166 goals over 52 games.

Gudbranson goes back to Calgary
Gudbranson has to submit a 10 team no-trade list, do you think he would go back to Calgary?
He played 1 year in Calgary at the lowest AAV of his career, doesn't seem like Flames made much of an effort to keep him.
