Or maybe Phil is simple could not normally use Beaulieu? I understand that Beaulieu is just defensman for third pair, but Scandella’s game infuriated me, he was slow and very often romp with a puck in his zone, after which there were either dangerous moments or goals.

Well, for some reason, I have no such questions for McCabe and Dahlin. I really don’t really understand why you are trying to justify a bad game of Scandella, except to raise his price on this site, but his real price is the middle round, I even liked Beaulieu more than Scandella, but Botterill sold it in sixth round.

I saw how he was the best pair, and if in the first year he played more or less tolerable, but last season he was one of the worst.

Well for me, Maatta is better than Scandella. Still, he had previously struggled with injury, but he has a very high IQ, but unfortunately he is terribly slow. Scandella is more likely to have been overpaid for third pair of defender and I don’t see anything special about him, but he didn’t even pull the third pair last season.

Ok, but if Chicago’s GM made such a deal, it doesn’t mean that Fenton will make such a deal, especially Maatta is a better player than Scandella. Scandella also has one year of contract, if Botterill could get just third round one for Scandella, that would be a victory.

Although I like Roslovic and Greenway, but these are not very good deals for Buffalo, these guys have not yet been fully proven and risk is not best thing that Botterill should do during this offseason. At least I know what to expect from Risto, and what to expect from these guys I do not know.

Hmm, and why does MIN do this? It is unlikely that Fenton traded Donato for Coyle, then to give him up for a rather useless for Minnesota defender of the third pair and fourth round.

Risto trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>I suppose if the 2 trades were with Buffalo:
2019 7th round pick + Ristolainen, Rasmus for Callahan, Ryan + Palat, Ondrej + 2020 2nd round pick (TBL) 2019 3rd round pick (TBL) + 2019 4th round pick (TBL), it would be a little more appealing.
But I would still say no if I were the Sabres.
I do not think Botterill will trade Ristolainen for a 28 yo who has only 19 goals and 69 pts over the last 2 seasons and what will be nearly a 3rd round pick.
Both Palat and Callahan are under-performing for their salaries. Drop Ristolainen make the 7th a 5th then give us a call. :laugh
That will save BriseBois about $11,000,000 next year, IMO that is just about the right price for a 2nd, 3rd and 4th (one could say an early 3rd, 4th and 5th)</div></div>
Initially deal was Palat + 2020 2nd for Risto, of course Botterill would have to say no.

Fun team to do an ACGM for
I would not want to give McCabe a deal for Zucker, the more MIN seems to have no problems with defense, and our defense does not look very attractive, especially considering that Pilut and Bogosian will be injured at beginning of season.

What would you give for Risto 1 for 1
So far, I have not seen a single truly exciting offer for Risto. It may be worthwhile for us to keep it if there are no interesting offers, especially after Karlsson seems to remain in San Jose and there are not many RHD on market.

Trying out some options trading with Tor Mtl Buf
I would not like to touch Pilut, this guy seems to have a rather high ceiling and if there is no other LHD in direction of Buffalo in the deal, then this is not very good. Well, I think Brodin is cost more than Shaw, but maybe some will underestimate Brodin, but he is really good.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Smithcd995</b></div><div>I would totally model it after the Skinner deal, but Skinner had more value imo. Toffoli is a good player, but on a down year and not as talented as Skinner.</div></div>
So I also say that Skinner's value declined due to fact that he wanted to play closer to home and he would not renew his contract with Carolina anyway, I think Toffoli has a slightly different situation, he doesn’t have NTC/NMC and LA not obliged to trade him, and so I agree, for me, Skinner is a more important and strong player, although Toffoli is also good.

Moves with LA and MIN
I think if you replace the fourth for 2020 2nd one will be more than a fair deal, which will be similar to Skinner's deal, although Jeff had an NTC/NMC and he wanted to play close to home. Deal with MIN seems a bit strange, I don’t think they want to return Scandella back, you can just remove the extra picks and offer Nylander and 1st Stl for Zucker, maybe Fenton is really tempted by such an offer.

Trying to remain competitive after unlikely scenario
I think rather then it’s better to use Karlsson in a deal with Nashville, they just have Turris and Bonino, which are about the same level with Eakin and although he had a breakthrough season in Vegas, but Wild Bill is clearly above the level and what Nashville needs.

Dreger says Frolik is on the move Does this make sense for both teams

There is a logic to this, but I don’t really understand what kind of NTC he has, it seems there is a list of commands that he does not want to go to.

Frolik is unlikely to give up his NTC for Ottawa’s sake, but it’s worth a try.
