Then I guess that could happen. Don't see why he'd leave the money on the table but it's possible.

If he retires wouldn't Chicago still have a portion of his contract counting against their cap hit?

There's a good chance you'll be able to grab Raymond or Holtz at 9 to replace him. Clearing out the cap space would allow you to maybe go after someone like Pietrangelo in the offseason to compete for the last few years of Toews/Kane.

Hard to do if the new GM doesn't feel like the current core is close to competing.

Rossi would be tough to pass up on but I think Lundell would end up being the better option as a 2/3C. Suzuki will be the more offensive minded center moving forward and Lundell would be their shutdown guy ala Bergeron.

Short of that the Sabres agree to hang up the phone if Dorion mentions the name Eichel ever again.</div></div>
You do understand star players never get a full return when traded right? Getting a guaranteed third overall pick is probably the best piece your ever going to get for Eichel. So the alternative is staying the course and hoping the team improves, but if they don't then you're looking at trading a disgruntled player who's 2+ years older then he is right now. I'm not saying Buffalo should do this, I'm suggesting that maybe the new GM doesn't want to work under the shadow of having to appease Eichel.

Whoops I mixed up the Ottawa/San Jose pick, meant for it to be the higher of the two.

Interviews and character count for something - Habs go with a Euro or someone at least familiar with their francophone side - Ontario or eastern upbringing</div></div>
I think they'll see Sanderson as the future replacement for Weber. He'll have a few years to learn under Weber which would be great for his development/character. He's the son of an ex-NHLer so I think he'll understand your career has you playing in many different places, don't see him being overwhelmed by playing for the Habs.

As for the Devils pick, that makes sense, especially since they are in need of d, but it just depends on what they value more right now. Someone to play on the wing, or d.</div></div>
Think they'll end up grabbing Quinn or maybe Rossi. They've grabbed a few 67s in the past two drafts so I'm sure they've been keeping an eye on those two.

I would love it Foudy fell to us, but we are in need of wingers instead of center depth, so I would be more on board with selecting Neighbours with that 62nd pick</div></div>
I think it's a case of the Devil's getting their guy. If they don't pick him at 6 I think the Habs would seriously consider taking Sanderson with their pick.
Neighbours would be a good pick at 62 but I don't see him making it there.
